    Truly a modern classic. If ever I had need for a truck, I'd look no further than one of these. Ventilated seats, tons of utility, plenty of performance, and an epic, patriotic aesthetic. What more could you ask for?

    @5:10 if it is an aluminum cast engine,it might have some bars stop leak in there. Nothing wrong with stop leak, all it is is ground up walnut shells, and ground up ginger root. It is placed in the radiator to coat the porous aluminum. It was a GM factory applied sealant that was specified by the engineers. Unfortunately, owners thought their Dexcool was turning to mud, and unscrupulous mechanics used the owners lack of knowledge to talk them into all sorts of repairs and flushes. I maintain my 23 year old cadillac Northstar myself, and have been changing the coolant and stop leak every 4 years without any incident. After a few months, my red Dexcool turns a little brown too, but i know its fresh, and protecting my headbolts and headgaskets from corrosion. An interesting fact is that bars gets the ginger root as a waste byproduct from a nearby ginger ale soda factory.
    Keep your surge tank on the high side of full hot as to prevent air from entering the cooling system

    • @davidjames666
      @davidjames666 Před 5 lety +1

      Never get rid of dexcool!!! The engine was designed to have dexcool as the coolant. The green stuff has abrasive silicates that will damage the aluminum engine and water pump seals. Any car switched over to 2 year green stuff can never go back to dexcool, and have the same 4 year change interval

    • @mercedesbenzs600bash
      @mercedesbenzs600bash Před 5 lety

      @@davidjames666 Great information thanks,but when buying used were not gonna really know if it's dexcool in it or not...

    • @davidjames666
      @davidjames666 Před 5 lety

      MERCEDESBENZS600 S500 dexcool is a red color, the silicate stuff is green or yellow. If a dexcool car has green coolant, pass on that vehicle. You are correct that if it does has dexcool in it, you can not tell of the previous owner(s) performed proper coolant system maintenance. That is the gamble, but if you decide to buy the used vehicle, first thing to do is to drain and fill the fluids. For the cooling system, add the bars leal powder to the lower radiator hose. Btw, once a car was converted to green coolant, there is no going back. The silicates are inside. and bound to the internal coolant passages, and a flush would not remove them adequately to bring the vehicle back to the extended Dexcool fluid change interval.

    *DO NOT REMOVE THE DEXCOOL FROM THAT TRUCK UNLESS YOU WANT TO REPLACE EVERY SEAL IN THAT MOTOR! the green shit will eat the seals TRUST ME ON THIS i had to replace the whole upper intake seals on my 99 tahoe because some genius put the green shit in mine too just before i bought it. when i questioned the guy about it he said he had heard the same shit about it making the truck not cool right or some dumb bullshit like that. but i got it straight from a GM mechanic that i had replace the gaskets and he showed me how and why it ate the gaskets. i don't remember the science behind it all exactly now all i remember is that painful hole having to have the intake gaskets replaced. i have an 06 Escalade same color 6.0 L also but mine has 5 more HP it's the LQ9 mine is also the EXT instead of ESV meaning mine is the cadillac version of the avalanche. very utilitarian and just ever so slightly lighter than yours. I average 15.6 city or highway it doesn't vary. I LOVE these trucks, in fact i love them so much i came clear down to your neck of the woods to get my wife one too. Hers came from West Palm Beach well from Belle Glade Chevrolet Cadillac. i flew into west palm beach and bought it for $5500.00 and drove it 14 hours straight back home to Portland TN,. she's in love with hers too. hers has the sunroof that mine doesn't and it had brand new leather seat covers put in recently too . i would like to have mine replaced too but at $350.00 per top and bottom each that won't happen any time soon. hers is also an 04 but it's a silver ext didn't actually like the color that much myself but i have to admit it has grown on me and hers will be a whole lot cheaper to paint than mine because that pearl paint isn't cheap. OOOOH you got the NAV radio, ours doesn't we have the standard deck with the CD player and casette deck in it. still BOSE, still sounds awesome but no navigation. and i have had to replace the Bose amp underneath the console already too. not a fan! that was a very long and involved repair but worth it in the end. you just have to have the exact part number on yours that is installed so that it's as simple as removing the damaged one and putting in the working one. put you a K&N air filter in this one, only use Mobil 1 oil in it and try to find high test gas with no ethanol in it and about every 3rd or 4th tank throw a full can of sea foam in the truck with a full tank of gas and you'll be golden. the sea foam is like gold and so is the Mobil 1 oil. not just fan boy shit either this is tried and true recipe that has gotten me over 300,000 miles out of my last 3 GM SUV's. I REALLY DO HOPE YOU WERE JOKING ABOUT REMOVING DEXCOOL FROM THIS TRUCK*

      DaddytechEnt I disagree. I’ve owned a dozen of these, some for many years, and have removed the Dexcool from every one of them without issue. The Dexcool has been shown to cause corrosion and cooling system failure after it exceeds its 10 year service life, take a look online at the studies. Dexcool is fine as long as you flush it every few years

    • @DaddytechEnt
      @DaddytechEnt Před 6 lety

      you have to flush and refill them all every 2 - 3 years because that's when they start to lose cooling and proper lubricating properties. I've seen the difference and never had an issue personally other than the green stuff eating all the intake gasket seals in my 99 tahoe within 6 months and having to have the top end of my motor rebuilt because of it. i put dexcool in it and haven't had to replace anything it in over 12 years and 95,000 miles. at least not till it was time to in 2 - 3 years. When i do flush it it's much easier to blow all of the residue out of the overflow and radiator also. i've also seen the same thing happen with the BMW blue coolant as well when it was replaced with the green stuff. i guess we'll just have to agree to disagree on this one. I did my part man. i warned you. What you do with the information i pass along to you is entirely up to you. I just shared my experience and the advice i was given by someone paid and trained to work on these things and my results by following along with what i was told. If i hadn't seen the difference personally i would never have said a word.

      DaddytechEnt everyone has different luck with vehicles. Had my Yukon Denali with the same 6.0 up to 270,000 miles with the green stuff for years with no issues. Again, going off what my former GM tech told me a decade ago when I brought my then 2001 Suburban in that was running Dexcool...he could have been right or wrong but no issues in my experience with green
