    I bought a 2002 escalade for my mother for for 1500 with 160k on it Mother's Day (and for me to do errands and work commutes. No check engine, same color.
    Just getting into upgrading it. Cold Air Intake, exhaust, and LEDs in all lights. My mother loves it and I'm planning on upgrading the brakes, rotors, tire, dual muffler, and dual dan to give more space to get at the belts.
    Mother and I love the truck and hope others get the chance to enjoy this vehicle that I've always loved
    since I was 8. Just take care of the fluids and don't beat on it, it'll last like a Toyota camry. Totally worth it in my book. Best of luck with yours, hope you keep it and enjoy it like we do. Great video, thanks for the share. 😎 👍

    It always AMAZED me how these Slades sold so much better than the '03+ Lincoln Navigator... Ford invested ALOT more into the 2nd gen. Navi than GM did with these since they had their own unique interior design, more gizmos, IRS, etc... While these were really just badge-engineered over-priced work trucks thinly disguised as "luxury" SUV's with fake wood on the dash and a Bvlgari clock lol. Best thing I could say about these 2nd gen. Slades is they turned out to be alot more reliable than the Lincolns now that they're old. Good cheap workhorses to buy today, but it's amazing how quick consumer's standards have risen when these trucks were "the standard" less than 20 years ago.

    • @bigalsbikeandauto
      @bigalsbikeandauto  Před 4 lety

      Corion H I’ve owned quite a few of the 1st and 2nd gen Navigators, I used to buy them because they were so much cheaper used than these 2nd gen Escalades and for a reason. You have to drive a 2nd gen Escalade to understand that despite it sharing so much with a Tahoe it drives like a completely different vehicle with the LQ9 and the softer suspension/interior upgrades.

    • @corionh4775
      @corionh4775 Před 4 lety

      @@bigalsbikeandauto Oh I've flipped a handful of these 2nd gen. Slades and a ton of Burbans and Yukons from this era... Same trucks, and they drive virtually the same aside from engine power (6.0L). The differences between an F-150/Expedition and a Lincoln Navigator from this era was alot more dramatic. I don't think these are "bad" vehicles at all, and they've definitely held up better than Navigators over time... These Slades are mostly just hilarious when you really look at how little they are differentiated from a Chevy Silverado work truck inside, yet GM consistently managed to outsell the much more impressive Lincoln Navigator (for the time), and for more money lol.

    What advice do you have to improve my fuel mileage in my 2003 Escalade? V8 6.0 VORTEC ENGINE. 155k miles when I bought it the average MPG was 9.5, after driving around town it went down to 9, then after highway driving and switching driving style it went up to 10.1 .. now today its as good as 10.4 , but it should seriously be higher. The check engine light came and went for the Mass Airflow sensor but it hasn't came back since, im wondering if I should change it anyway and what else can be done to get better MPG?

    Great video man, id like to add a few things while we're on the topic of 2002 vs 2003-2006 model differences.
    2002 was the last year for a cabin air filter, and I believe a glovebox or ashtray light.
    2003 introduced things like HID lights, and power adjustable pedals, as well as the turn signal mirrors.
    The onstar systems did in fact change, if I recall correctly it goes something like this: 2002 had the old analog system that cannot be updated or used today. 2003-2004 had the analog with digital capabilities, which can be made to work with an upgrade from the dealership. And 2005 and up came with the digital capable system which can be activated with no work.
    Finally, 2002-2004 had fan clutches, which tend to fail a lot instead of electric fans like the 05-06 model.
    Thats all I can think of off the top of my head, I know there's minor differences like the tailgate glass handle and little other stuff but thats not as important.

      somebody just the basics, how the transmission shifts/color & condition of the fluid. That’s pretty much the only flaw of these trucks, and if it was maintained is a non issue. 240k miles on my 01 4.8 Sierra with its original transmission, still shifting smooth as butter.

  • @raymondp.kotiiesq.5934

    I have a 2003 Trailblazer with a 4.2 original engine, no internal repairs to date (never opened up), trany replaced at 215,000 miles with a GM rebuild, now with over 325,000 miles (I am the original owner). She receives a Rust Check treatment once a year in Niagara Falls, Ontario by Dave Hardt at Rust Check on Crop Street. Granted I do spend money to upkeep and update the vehicle, but at around $2,500 per year, it is less than half of what an equivalent lease or SUV payment would be. I cannot imagine anything GM has made in the last seven or eight years (since it became Obama Motors) will hold-up as well as this one. No airbag replacements, no ABS problems to date. Hard to believe this is my daily driver, summer, fall, winter and spring. My advice is use GM pro level, Bosch, Michelin, MCI and Bilstein parts as much as possible. I have even had the exhaust from muffler back to resonator re-done using OEM stainless steel components.

    The Escalade is the same size as the Tahoe correct? Just the Cadillac version? What does Cadillac have in the size of the Suburban, or do they have a Cadillac version of the Suburban?
    Like those older model GM's. Only issues they seem to like to have are electrical problems LOL.

    Beautiful SUV. I have noticed you like the old school homes in Miami from the fifties. Interesting for someone your age. Glad to see your girlfriend is still with you. Very pretty girl. But your house choices and style is very interesting. You must like the old school Miami neighborhood. You obviously love the old escalades. Yeah I would get rid of the 04 it's nothing to compare to the 02.

      Charlie Sydnor my preferred architecture is 80s contemporary, followed by danish modern 70s and mid century. This house is a blend of all three on the inside from being updated over the years and all original mid century on the outside.

      D4x4Bronc no, location is the determining factor of home value in south Florida, the age of the home has little to do with it. As I said above, I love vintage homes like I love vintage cars. I could have bought a new construction home outside of the city for half the price.
