    Fierceness ran away from a bunch of mediocre horses in the Florida Derby. Whenever he has had any difficulty he has folded like an umbrella. The chances of him getting bumped at the start and bothered by other speed horse is much greater in the Derby. He DOES have a speed horse on his outside now with Epic Ride. Yes, he has talent and in a time trial he would win. This, however, is the most consistently roughly run race and a faint of heart horse like Fierceness is less than 50% reliable. Use him as a saver but also bet as if he will lose.
    I do like Just a Touch who should improve with experience and his jockey may be able to keep him from running too fast too soon like he did in the Blue Grass if he can get him to be a presser and not fight for the lead.

      Epic Ride did charge up on Fierceness flank and that is what happened in the Holy Bull also with Fierceness then fading.

    I am going to keep the Japanese Forever Young this year. Every year I have thrown out the Dubai and Japanese invaders...this one I am keeping because he is undefeated, has raced against a top flight American Stakes winning miler and won (Bookem Danno) in Dubai, but I am going with Fierceness on top. I agree Fierceness is 50-50 or 60-40 to win, but think he goes off at 4-1 and second on the post time favorites to Sierra Leone. The public only looks at wins...not speed figs, and there has been an organized campaign of FUD vs. Fierceness which has reached the public.

      @trboxopmsturmyrt[todrd9655 Forever Young ran a really gutsy, determined race and he kept trying to get ahead after the wire. He was bumped a lot down the stretch and some posters said they thought Sierra Leone should have been DQ'ed to third. I didn't see the head on but ForeverYoung had to go several lanes to the right through the stretch.
      T O Password surprised me. With only two starts he still finished fifth in the Derby. He made the Super High Five worth $320 K. The Superfecta was a modest $8K.

    Funny part about this is Fierceness has a perfect Post Position for him but he’s going to off my tickets, since he runs an awesome race and then follows it up with a bleh race.

    Mike Conti asks "Who does not have a soft spot for D. Wayne Lukas?" I am old enough to remember when he was the Bob Baffert of racing with win after win. Like Baffert, he came from Quarter Horse racing. Lukas never won the Triple Crown but he did beat himself out of the Triple Crown one year with one of his horses winning two jewels of the Triple Crown and the third jewel was won by one of his other horses. In 1995 Thunder Gulch trained by Lukas won the Derby and the Belmont and Timber Country, also trained by Lukas, won the Preakness with Thunder Gulch third.
    We tend to put him up on a pedestal but, in fact, back in the day Lukas was caught with a lot of medication infractions and could have been treated as harshly as Baffert. Here's just one example:
    "Filly Fails Drug Test, Lukas Gets Suspended : Horse racing: But the 60-day ban handed down by New York officials probably won’t keep the trainer from Kentucky Derby because he will contest ruling." By BILL CHRISTINE
    Feb. 25, 1995 12 AM PT
    Baffert has been accused of "juicing" his horses when, in fact, nothing he or his grooms did was in amounts that would have made them run any faster and in Justify's case the scopolamine was environmental (jimson weed inadvertently baled up in the feed) and in Medina Spirit's case it was from an ointment to clear up a skin rash. That horse won two more races and was second to the Horse of the Year in the BCC while beating the eventual Three Year Old Male Eclipse Award Winner. CD just got tired of the G.O.A.T. beating out their Kentucky trainers most of the time.

    • @4orrcountry
      @4orrcountry Před 28 dny

      Baffert is a disgrace to racing - and sport in general. He betrayed the game that made his name. You're a fool to believe otherwise.

    • @vernonfrance2974
      @vernonfrance2974 Před 28 dny

      @@4orrcountry Not true. He got owners to buy top prospects and he brought them to their top preparedness. He made others jealous so they used some very questionable tactics to try to take him down.
      He's the G.O.A.T. and that gets their goat. His horses did not win races with scopolamine (jimson weed found in Santa Anita horses', including Justify's) feed. (Environmental contamination). They did not win with lidocaine from incidental contact through human medication transference or betamethasone in a tiny amount from a skin rash ointment. Medina Spirit won two more races and beat the Three Year Old Male Eclipse winner in the BCC losing only to the Horse of the Year - AFTER the Derby.
      Baffert does not win by "juicing" any horses. CD has smeared the name of the game and they have turned Hollywood Park and Arlington Park in to residential housing. They virtually killed the Illinois Derby by not giving it qualification points for the Derby Trail. They want to be the controller and they don't seem to care what they have to do to achieve that.

    • @vernonfrance2974
      @vernonfrance2974 Před 28 dny

      @@4orrcountry Not true. The medication was approved. It was in a salve and the groom in the fine print but neither the veterinarian nor the groom noticed it and it was found in a very minute amount on race day.
      You are obviously ignorant to the fact that the amount of the medication that was detected was minute and was not even for joint treatments but for a skin rash. Furthermore, it was betamethasone valerate and not betamethasone acetate that was found in the horse's system. The former was identified through testing and betamethasone valerate is not used for joint problems unlike betamethasone acetate.
      Medina Spirit won two more races and finished second in the nation's premier race for three year old and older horses, The Breeder's Cup Classic. He lost to the eventual Horse of the Year, Knicks Go and he beat Essential Quality, another three year old in the BCC race. Despite beating Essential Quality, EQ was was named the Three Year Old Male Horse of the Year. NO DRUGS WERE DETECTED IN MEDINA SPIRITS BLOOD after the Derby!
      How do you think Medina Spirit was able to win and show top quality IF the alleged drugs Baffert is supposedly relying on were not in his system?
      It is Baffert's eye for good young horses and his training of them that makes them winners, not approved medications.
