Its a nice comparision, no doubt about that. But may be you can do a stress test and at the same time check the battery difference if any? Because when all cores are running at maximum, M1 might take a huge draw compared to A12Z. Also including battery percentages for all future tests would be wonderful. Its like having an extra data set to tell the customers.

There is absolutely NO need to get the M1 iPad if you own either the 2018 or 2020 iPad pro. You Will NOT notice any difference whatsoever! I was gulable enough to get the new M1 iPad when I have the 2020. I was.so disappointed as after listening to all these tech CZcamsrs flowering up this device is was expecting huge difference. There isn't!! 99 percent the same. Well unless.you want to sit and run benchmarks all day long then you will see a difference. Imagine this.... You live by a road that's always jammed with traffic, all day everyday. However you decide to get a new car. Ans you pick a 8litr Ferrari, 0 to 60 in 1.5 seconds, 800 break horse power. But your always stuck in a jam when you take it out and unable to open it up and get the best from it. So as you're driving along in.the traffic jam, all the other way less powerful cars are able to keep up.with you. You literally have no advantage over them. This is exactly the same with the new iPad 99 percent of the time. It needs new software to remotely even tax this new raw power. So unless you're looking for a new tablet or you've got a 5 year old iPad it's literally not worth it. Well unless you plan on rendering 4k video all day. But then again you can do this on the 2018 model and definitely the 2020 model all be it 5 minutes slower. Do not be fooled into thinking this new M1 will change your life!!!! Save money. I'll be sending mine back and being content with my 2020 iPad. Again the screen on the 12.9 model is an improvement, bit it's still not as good as the amoled on the tab s7 plus. I'm.not apple hater, I love iPad, it's the best out there. I just think we're being pushed into getting the new M1 when it's not going to make a difference to 99 percent of users.

@@andyH_England I’m perhaps coming across as a little negative iPad. Which is totally not what I mean. There is absolutely no doubt whatsoever that the m1 iPad is phenomenal and by Mike the best tablet out there. I’m more annoyed that there is nothing really at the moment to use software wise to get the best out of it. Like I’ve mentioned before it’s like owing a 8lite Ferrari but only having a jam packed road to drive it on. I really hope that developers start bringing out software to test this device. That would be awesome. I totally agree with you waiting. I wished I’d done that. As it stands I’m not seeing any real difference between my m1 and my 2020 iPad. Well accept for some software issues on the likes of safari and chrome. It keeps loading desktop pages despite the setting being on mobile desktop request. Not a big deal but I’m wondering if there’s a slightly different architecture in the m1 chips. But I’ll say this. You’ll be gob smacked when you run Geekbench 5 multiscore of higher than 7000 that’s superb. Single core is only slightly higher than iPhone 12 though which is interesting.

I appreciate the bump in storage for the base model too; 128GB compared to 64GB for the same $799. Apple does it again. Oh, and if you're on the fence between the M1 11 inch and the 12.9 inch simply because of the display being the new miniLED on the 12.9...hey, the display on the 11 inch M1 is so good to my eye that I cannot see paying an additional $300 only to be unhappy with the unwieldy size of the thing; besides, I already spent the $$ on the 11 inch Magic Keyboard a year ago. You'd have to buy a new larger one for the miniLED 12.9 inch which would add up to an additional 300 dollars plus the 300 more for the bigger iPad...600 dollars ain't worth it for the new technology. 11 inch to me is the perfect iPad size.

The M1 iPad Pro was what _should’ve_ been introduced last year. There was almost no jump from 3rd gen to 4th gen. The A12Z Bionic makes no sense. It’s literally the same processor as the 3rd gen but with one extra GPU core enabled. The shiny new LIDAR camera was not enough for me to make the upgrade from the iPad Pro 2nd gen.
With this M1 iPad Pro, now we’re talking!

The M1 iPad it’s fast but iPad OS doesn’t take any advantage of its power that’s why exporting the video on the 12Z was faster. They both perform the same for now. I have the iPad Pro 2020 and it’s way more than I need in terms of power
And I got it with the Magic Keyboard for just over $800 so it was a great deal. And to this day after more than a year since the M1 version came out they both preform the same so I do t regrets buying the 2020 iPad Pro 12Z over the M1 .

I’m glad you did a screen comparison by tilting them - I did with with my Air 4 and when I picked up the Pro 3rd Gen 11, a lot of people tout the two being nigh identical save for a few specs, there’s actually a lot more differences once you start diving in into details. Such as tilting the screens in a side by side comparison, the Air 4’s screen is actually a cheaper LCD screen than any other iPad iteration I’ve seen. Set the brightness down to near zero in a dim environment and tilt the screens, the difference between the LCD displays between the two are night and day. It’s also why I suspect Apple was forced to throttle the brightness nits of the Air 4 with software, my suspicion why it only not far over 400 nits, because it’s a cheaper panel, it would’ve bled too much light and really stunted the screen quality. What Apple love to talk about, they shout through the roof, that’s never what’s interesting to me anymore. It’s what they don’t like to talk about that I find is the real sauce with investigating their hardware.
Interestingly enough, if anyone owns an Air 3 and an Air 4, do a side-by-side test on the screens, tilted, low brightness. It’s ludicrous how much cheaper the IPS LCD panel in the Air 4 is. Trade off with specs vs build quality. A definite sign away from what Jobs started, this is Cook’s generation of mushy, weaker iPads with insane powerful specs traded for build quality. Retail products have to made within a specific budget after all, and competition now wasn’t like it was in Job’s’s time.
Apple were very very quick to erase the Air 3 from their marketing and the shelves, they pretty much made it vanish and I wondered why. They shrunk its screen by 0.3 inches, re-released it as the iPad 8th Gen and didn’t want anyone to notice the drop in screen quality. Air 4 comes out, in the shell and 3/4 hardware specs of the 2018 iPad Pro, and, well, there we have it. Apples older Pro’s end up being Air’s at some point. Anyone remember 2015’s original 10.5 iPad Pro. *cough* Air 3 2019.

@@nonhazardous7055 Obviously you've never held an Air 3 and 4 side by side. They saved plenty on the Air 3 and it had the LCD panel of the Pro's. Pretty sure their saved budget expense on cheaper screens went toward the crystal-glass they used for the finger print scanner in the power button. Plastic ones on MacBook's though that do the exact same job. Apple saved money alright, and the expense of downgrading the most important bit of the tablet.
