What legacy? Retired in his prime because he can't handle the weight cut to 155 without almost dying like when he was first supposed to fight Tony. That, and he's scared of being exposed at 170. He walks around at 190 and almost dies cutting to 155, on fight night he gains almost 30 pounds to fight smaller dudes.
Also more than half of his fights are vs. local Dagestani fighters with 0-2 wins and many more losses. He defended the title 3 times. GSP defended his UFC titles 13 times.

Connor also entered a 155 division that has Khabib, Poritier, Ferguson, Olivera, Gaethje. The toughest division of the era of the sport. Remember in the 70s when Ali had to come into that tough era within the division after dominating the 60s
It's literally a division of assassins you still have dariush and the Dagestani. They are all well rounded and have knockout power. Connor stands no chance with his poor ground game and poor cardio. He should just try to win the trilogy with Diaz and call it a day.

With that being said nothing is impossible and I think his best bet and only bet is too make his ground game elite, if he has a good takedown threat accompanied with his standup he has a chance. With that being said, that’s easier said than done.

Agreed...he has made more money than any mma fighter (net worth $350+ million)and is a two weight fmr. World champion ..however he has not improved his weaknesses and his trash talking is hot air now because he doesn't back it up anymore..the fight with Mayweather was a blessing and a curse..he made around $100 million for that fight but seems to lost his desire to be the best..great run Connor but nothing lasts forever...time to retire before someone hurts him permanently.

Connor's inactivity and focus on boxing has meant his body (especially his legs) were less conditioned for MMA. Combined with his latest training camp where he clearly focused on leg kicks and I'd imagine that he already had a hair line fractures coming into the fight.
The only way I could take his return seriously is if he could put aside his ego (if that's even possible for him to do) and fight his way back up the division with several lower ranked contenders....
