Lip balm tips: use rubber band to hold tubes together in a group while filling, use dropper to fill each tube with less mess (and control the amount of pour more easily), use heat gun to gently melt tops of balm to get rid of hole and make a smooth top. Enjoy!

As someone from the UK, I always used to marvel at Americans drinking cider at any time of day, and giving it to children. Then I learned Americans call a non-alcoholic apple juice "cider."
Then I was stunned watching vids of Americans sloshing back eggnog at Christmas like it was going out of fashion, and giving it to children. Today, I learned the American version of eggnog is also non-alcoholic 😂 TYSM Becky

It is funny, isn't it? We have (filtered) apple juice, apple cider (non-alcoholic but not filtered) and hard apple cider. Someone said they though it was from prohibition (??🤔🤔). Back in colonial times they also had "small cider" which was diluted hard cider for kids. (I learned that from visiting Sturbridge Village here in Massachusetts.😁)💕💕

    Hey becky.
I also make soaps and cosmectics too.
Next time, please add your Vitamin E and essential oils after the microwave heating.
Once everything is melted and mixed well, then you can add in V-E oil and essential oils and fill tubes once you get your recipe you desired.
The reason for that is, if you add them in and heat them up or while the oils are too hot, they are losing there benefits for the lips.
So always add in the V-E oil & essential oil after your oils are cool down.
I hope this really help you out for next time.
P.S: For anyone that want to make vegan chapsticks, they can replace the beeswax for candalula wax instead and minus the lin.

One cup glass measuring cup is your friend when pouring lip balm...or-like a ketsup squeeze bottle and with a careful hand, put your liquid balm in the tubes. Also, if your mixture sets up too fast, have a 2 cup glass measuring cup nearby with some boiling water (super hot anyway) and place your container holding the bulk balm inside as you work. It may cut down on the mess. when you get a divit in your poured balm, take a hairdryer or heat gun and remelt the top because adding to the tube will keep the oils separate still and it can flake off on the lips.

Love watching you. You're my inspiration that keeps me motivated while working in the kitchen as well! One note, as a professional soap maker. I have a spice, tea, and soap store. If you are using homemade lye from ashes, soap needs to cure that long to get rid of any residual lye. I use lye beads, or modern lye. Soap only needs to cure for 48 hours, then. To be safe, you can do a pH test to see if it's stable. Learning that from another expert soap maker was a game changer for me!

When I was an infant in the 50s, a go-to food was egg custard, which is made with egg yolks. My mom got really good at angel food cake and meringues. She would save the whites in the freezer. The meringues were like little nests that held a scoop of ice cream and topped with fresh berries.

Great job Becky xoxo! I make skincare products/soap as a side hussle. I find the double boiler method easier for balms with less to and from, you can keep it from solidifying and also you can melt at a lower heat with less chance of affecting the medicinal properties of the ingredients. Use essential oils with care, they can burn if you use too much. I use a jug with a spout for easy pouring as opposed to a bowl. Yes a funnel is good but cleaning is a mission.

I’ve read many of your comments and they’re all so nice. If I wanted to keep the cardboard tubes, I’d cover them with press and seal so your tube stays clean. Maybe it wouldn’t melt down. I use that stuff for corralling my cords on my Christmas displays to keep the cords in control while stored. Also, you could put a pretty picture around the tube and cover with shipping tape.

@kimneill1496 Have you checked the temperature your oven cooks at? You can put an oven-safe thermometer in your oven and set the oven on and see if it's cooking at proper temp you set it to. Almost everyone's stove runs slightly hotter or colder and it's good to know for cooking/baking, so you know it will have to cook slightly longer or at a slightly higher temp than the recipe if your oven runs colder for example.
