When I went to primary school more than 60 years ago, we began our day with the Lord's Prayer and the national anthem. It was not controversial. It didn't seem to offend anyone. What is different today that these rituals must be forbidden?

I have been thinking about this lately the obsession with the Ten Commandments being in schools...why not the Sermon on the Mount? I think loving your enemies is more important to teach the kiddos then not committing adultery...

It gets worse when you learn that the same governor who mandated the Commandments also took away like a million dollars that was going to go to Catholic Charities Louisiana to help them build a new homeless shelter, on the grounds that said shelter was going to be used as a front for illegal immigration.

The Ten Commandments have been held not necessarily to have violated the Establishment Clause (I don't agree with that line of jurisprudence generally) depending upon the context because they form a foundational basis for Western Law (Note that there is a display of the Ten Commandments at the Supreme Court building itself).
The Sermon on the Mount is on less solid legal ground.
I know you want to indulge in some kind of "they're hypocrites" game of goalpost moving, but there is at least a colorable argument for the Ten Commandments as being lawful that does not exist to support the Sermon on the Mount.

No one is a good enough Christian in the eyes of David French, who gets paid by Left Wing shall we say "non-Christians" to hold ordinary people up for scrutiny and humiliation so that the people who pay him and the people who read what he writes can feel better about hating the people he exposes for ridicule. Make no mistake that French's purpose and effect is making the government more aggressively hostile to Christians, Christianity, and the established moral order which is informed by Christian morality. When French goes to his just eternal reward, I imagine even Judas will refuse to associate with him.
