As a tech I use Fab's Autobackup from France which is very useful to move personal data to another pc, you will be surprised how much is collected and transferred!
A huge time saver. The PRO version (not free) is portable an can be used for multiple computers, support and updates last for one year, but I still use my older licence on the road.

Well the main issue here is not the software, but the trouble shoot function made in Windows, which I have never seen it provides any fix regardless of the problem.

I used to use this on PCs I wanted to check or repair but I abandoned it some time ago due to it constantly failing to to update the definitions. (I'm not sure whether it was perhaps Microsoft's anti-Ransomware which was blocking it. I really can't remember). I also was less than keen on the fact that it wasn't a self contained tool but a toolkit, that is, a collection of download links to other third party tools, which might vary in their trustworthiness over time. You have to simply rely on the author to constantly check the trustworthiness of everything he links to. Despite my experiences, I might give it another go...
Basically a "Link Aggregator"!!!
The problem is, if the tool contains the programs, 1. it would be very large download 2. The creator would have to pay the software companies to use the software in his tool. 3. With it being free, who's going to pay for that? this is always the problem with these kinds of tools.

HELLO BRIT! Am an avid Subscriber, you are my first 'Go to' when diagnosing PC issues! I recently built a new Computer in my old Tower with an MSI Z390-A PRO Motherboard with an Intel Pentium Gold Processor G5400 CPU @ 3.7GHz! Next added 64.0 GB DDR4 3200 Ram! Also a ZOTAC GAMING GeForce GTX 1 Video Card! Recently upgraded all my HHD's with an Intel 660p Series M.2 1 TB SSD Drive C and two WD I TB internal SSD's! My Computer now boots up completely for a cold start in 30 seconds!!!! (Once in a while when I turn it on, it Boots into the Bios Screen)!!!(But when I wont to boot into Bios, no matter what key combination I press it wont go into Bios on Command)! Windows will not display on my Digital Monitor but I can see the Bios Screen on another HDMI Output to my 32 inch TV! Am running XMP Mode and Gaming Mode on the MSI along with allocating 3/4 of my Ram to Process my Adobe Premiere 2022! My Question is: How do I get the computer to Boot into Windows EVERY TIME? And secondly, How do I get my computer to boot into Bios on command?

I started to learn to fix my PCs and have found your videos very helpful. Yesterday after using the HeavyLoad to run all tests in maximum settings within Windows Repair Tool Box as this video suggested on my two Lenovo laptops (one has Windows 10 and another Windows 11) , both laptops had screen frozen and the SSD C drive on the new one (with Windows 11) had only 1.5 GB left out of about 500 GB. I had to restore the system using my system image backup. Can you explain why that happened? Was that cause by a virus? Thank you.
I was just about to download it, when I read Dave's computer tips, where it stated that just recently they've discovered that the program now contains some malicious code. Is it still safe to install? The last thing I would want is to get a virus/trojan. If anybody has any additional, current information, please let me/us know. Thanks.
Great looking piece of kit. However, I've notice an oddity on one of my laptops with it, in that it cannot display the cpu temperature and, if I go to settings and tick the box it immediately gets removed. So it says at the bottom of the main window - TEMP: Unavailable. Speccy displays the cpu temp just fine though, plus I've checked BIOS and nothing in there that would affect this.
do you have to get a subscription for fixing a device?
the time I open my laptop the screen keeps flashing on/ off then when I do restart it works just fine i don't know if this issue is software or hardware please advise @Brian

My desktop pc (win 10 pro) is currently 'out of order' due to BSOD, error 0xc000021a. A complete re-install is an absolute last option. I'm now into my 3rd week of trying various methods, to no avail. If I could at least find a clue or be pointed in the right direction of the actual problem it would be a blessing!

2011 Laptop with a old Celeron processor ? I would not waste my money upgrading to a 1TB SSD and 8GB of RAM. Put that money to a new laptop.

How does it compare to the free 'Glary utilities' ? (Perhaps any comparing table somewhere - I confess I didn't search jet.)
(It took me a wile to switch over from CC cleaner's tools.)
I also often run the in-built HP diagnostics-etc tools of my (HP) PC.
Maybe Glary is also available for onto a usb-key.

Can't fix SFC Scannow as it cannot repair corrupted files.Tried Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /restorehealth but it doesn't work either as it cannot find the resource files or whatever they're called. SFCFix always crashes (I used to work back in the day). I am frustrated.

The only probleme im facing now is that Sleep and restart and even Shutdown is not working as they should I always have to cut power manually my self and that only fucks with my hard drives thats just sad.
Upon running the app , the loading sequence is running it stops at 97% with a dialog box that says (with a big X within a red field) : Root Element is Missing. Stops at 'Checking for program and definitions Updates". Then freezes. So I'm looking for a resolution to this.
I see a bad driver update in my diagnostic event thingie but doesnt say what driver and my computer has been going to hell for 2 weeks now. I guess im just gonna do a full reset and install of windows. Maybe I should try that DDU and uninstal my nvidia drivers? Should I uninstall my intel cpu driver too? Than if I do I just go to nvidia and intel sites to download fresh drivers right?

If my drive that I want to boot wont because windows is broken, then how do I repair it with this? It's only targeting my working windows model on a new drive I bought which I don't want. I need to be able to repair my old drive but I can't boot it! Should I unplug the working drive and try to run this program on hirens???

Will this repair my windows 11 not shutting down properly problem? I tried every solving method I found on youtube but none works for me. I had to hard shut down by pressing the phisical shutdown button for more than 10s after I did normal shutdown through windows shutdown setting everytime I shutdown my computer. Thanks.

Hey I have a question . My network adapter is a realtek . I don't have any problem on Linux but when I am windows sometimes I have to restart the PC for the network to been " seen ". I have reinstall the drivers with no effect , any ideas ?

Great idea but only if your machine has an internet connection. I'd have to download all of the apps to a specific folder and carry everything with me. I've almost always used Hirens bootcd since WAAAAAY back, these days on USB.

Do you think there is a way we can recover a device that when we turn it on, we get there is not a bootable operating system? We tried to re-install Windows, but that did not work. I can tell that could not be Hardware related because the issue was caused by an update. Also, when we are about to install Windows, we could see there is unallocated space, yet we could not format it or expand. Any advice!

@@christhophallegri1756 If I was you, I'd remove the drive from the affected computer, install it into an external drive enclosure or data cable that converts it to USB and plug into another PC with the USB to try and recover any personal files or documents. Are you sure the drive is free of malware/viruses/Trojans? Once connected to another PC via the SATA/IDE to USB bridge, you can scan for malware/viruses/trojans with 3rd party software. If the hard drive doesn't mount or present itself, there may be a mechanical problem with the hard drive which would need to be replaced. I think Britec09 has a forum (not sure where exactly) that can possibly give you more direction.

How do I run chkdsk on an external hard drive without a drive letter that isnât visible in file explorer, without losing my backups? I tried running âDiskpartâ and when I got to the stage of assigning a drive letter, I received the âFatal Device Hardware errorâ message.

i used account fixer and it created an account nam ed "apf_temp_admin" and it doesnt let me sign in and after a while it deletes my profile and gives me an error when trying to sign in and i have to use system restore but then after a while it deletes it again im stuck in a loop. i cant even delete the apf temp account under users

This tool doesn't appear to help making an older PC work as fast as it did when Windows was installed. I have a Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit which was installed many years ago. Now it has become so slow, it's unusable. Just right-clicking on a file in File Explorer to show the Properties window takes a minute or even longer. Loading a browser can take 5 minutes. Everything I do takes forever. When an actual operation is underway, for example copying a file, then the speed is okay. It just seems like the OS is working overtime all the time. The Performance chart in task manager shows the CPU is working flat out at 100% for much of the time. Drive C was only 1% fragmented, so defragging it made no difference. So how do I find out what the umpteen tasks that are running are actually doing, whether they can be stopped, how to dig deep into the actual running to pinpoint the cause(s) of the slowdown?
