I grew up in an Apostolic Pentecostal religion where they speak in tongues and it is crazy. I remember we had family prayer Saturday night and I would get scared when my family would speak in tongues. It would sound like a bunch of people going crazy.

I don't get why people make such a big deal out of this! I have been raised a Christian my whole life (i'm 14), and I was about 11 when I saw this. It is our choice to speak in tongues. We can still watch most shows. We move at our own pace. While I wasn't allowed to watch some shows, a lot of people at my church could. They make us look fricking psycho! Most people dont even know im Christian unless they know me. We're not psycho like this. They just wanted to make a buck or two on this movie!!

This is not Biblical, speaking in tongues meant that when someone preached he was understood by all in their own language. It has nothing to do with incoherent gibberish - They're not calling for the Holy Spirit here, they're calling a different kind of spirit.

I don't know what's scarier, that she believes the children under her watch are actually speaking in tongues and having visions or that most of her other statements and desires were factual and/or biblical.
When babies babble they make all sorts of sounds found in other languages across the globe. As they learn their native language, they filter out a lot of sounds and learn the ones that are part of the language. If a person truly were to speak in tongues, I think they would be using these sounds they are unfamiliar with rather than typical sounds found in the English language.

Pray in the spirit. That's where you let God move your prayers, delivering everything up to him and being moved to full repentance and surrender. Then, when you feel the holy spirit upon you, and it is a spirit so sense it as a spirit, open your mouth and begin to speak while keeping your focus on God. I'm sure God will help you if you seek him

It is significant also that for some nineteen centuries this gift of tongues was absent from the life of the church and never claimed by any legitimate Christian group. Whatever may be unclear about this passage, the plain fact is that the inspired apostle said that they would stop. And they did. If nineteen centuries of absence is not "ceasing," it is difficult to imagine what else could qualify

@narutix07 It is just babbling. Tongues reflects a series of consonant sounds that mirror the speakers native language. It only resembles a language as it seems to flow and have inflection, pitch and tone etc that make it seem authentic. It is also interesting to note that if a tongues speaker leaves christianity, they can still speak in tongues after if they so wish.

Nobody ever said it was the worst thing that could happen, they just said it was child abuse, learn to read.
In the Bible it says the Apostles spoke in Tongues - this means they were speaking languages they had not known before. One of them might have spoken Chinese, for instance. Not that they were speaking gibberish. Why doesn't everyone speak the same gibberish if its from the same source?

God is a Spirit, thoughs who worship him must worship him in spirit and in trueth. The purpose of speaking in toungues is to buypass your negitive thoughts, and to speak true-uncorrupt blessing to God. Mind you, its a more in depth section Christianity. Speaking in a spiritual language is a gift of the Spirit that is very peaceful and beautiful. It doesn't mean you are possessed. It feels like you are speaking a native language. I'm sure some of these children do have the gift, others may just be going with the group and making stuff up. This was probably edited in a harsh way, but yes, her yelling and ordering and language is troubling.
