Let's Play - Sparkster [SNES] - (Stages 1 - 4) - Radical Forgotten Mascot BLASTS into battle!

- Moving onto a slightly more complex game to play (at least physically), I try playing a game starring my internet namesake, Sparkster! Konami's attempt at catching the lighting in the bottle that was Sonic, and one of the few such characters to actually get some (really) good games!
Incidentally, the screencap of the Konami's website shown during the Konami logo is is even under the sub-domain address "Gaming". Make of that what you will.
I'm using accessibility software to modify the control setups for retro games, as I am suffering from long-term severe wrist pain issues that makes gameplay difficult. As a result I need unique control setups per game.
This does sometimes result in certain acts of clumsiness during live play, (at least twice my XBOX One triggers refused to acknowledge themselves being released, causing Rocket misfires) as the games were not designed for these, but I got on rather well in this game all told.

There is no ETA on future videos, since at the moment I've been suffering from a form of Dysphagia, the inability to swallow food, and as you can imagine its causing my energy levels to be all over the place. It was fun to play Sparkster again after all these years though.

I think it's a shame that Sparkster never achieved greater fame. I mean, he's a cute oppossum in armour with a rocket pack and a sword who fights giant robots - what's not to love? A brief cameo in Snatcher is surely cold comfort to a mascot who never got his due.
I hope the dysphagia clears up soon, too. Get well soon!

Having had my own health issues before (esophagitis once), I can well appreciate what a misery it is not to be able to get solid food down; bless you for continuing to do this, I hope things improve for you soon!

Your original Sparkster Genesis LP is why I discovered the character to begin with
I used to love this game so much as a kid. I used the name as a title for a comic I drew in middle school. Arguably, good times
I have to say, just going by first impressions, this looks way better than the Genesis/Mega Drive Sparkster. I honestly thought that version of Sparkster was ugly as sin, but this looks so much livelier and generally more appealing. The characters are far more expressive, the character designs are better, and the wolves have much more personality than the lizards. I'm really sorry you're suffering from so many health problems. Hopefully things get better soon.

To be fair, the game does get difficult. And if you reached Stage 7, that level's boss is hot garbage and probably the worst thing in all 4 Rocket Knight games.
Its not just a challenge or no-death run killer, I've found it can even be a *casual* run killer.
Well get better as soon as possible. We'll be here whenever you tune in. Tho I double took when I saw the game. Only thing that came to mind when I saw the title because I though we were revisiting the mega drive one was. "Bombs? Bombs? Bombs? You want it?!"

I was watching a old video (Sonic 3 - Boss Run - No Damage - Sega Megadrive / Genesis) and i saw a card that you've said about your neck- to be more specific, injuries in it, that made your hands numb and another things i think.
Are you o.k. now? Can you move your hands, arms and legs without problems?
I became worried first i read that, although not knowing your channel nor you as a person.

Have you ever played the rocket knight reboot from 2010? It's not great but it's not terrible either
Kind of, I do own the game on Steam at least. Whilst I wasn't terribly impressed with it on release, I think my expectations were too high, and honestly I'd be willing to give it another shot at some point.
@@ACESpark I think it does an okay job of offering a new approach to the jetpack mechanic, and I like the boss battles more than anything in the original games. I would be interested in seeing you play it in depth. Good luck!

But in all fairness, I feel like the controls generally suck in this game! I personally prefer the Mega Drive/Genesis version, and I'm glad I watched it! It's one of the reasons I got into the series myself.
In fact, I haven't played the third game for Steam, Xbox 360 & PlayStation 3; disappointing that the simply-titled Rocket Knight game did not have a release for a Nintendo console.
I actually hated Level 2! Those "cylinders" you mentioned kept crushing me!

Basically been on practically a all liquid diet, barring the odd time I've gotten rice down me.
Gotta say out all the things to sideswipe me in the past few years, I really wasn't expecting THAT to occur.
