Towards the end of the video, as I am wandering around the city, I meet some friendly locals that own a street stand and they invited me to try their seed soda. I couldn't figure out exactly what it was, but it was an exotic flavor.

Auto rickshaw driver speaks much better english than some politicians this show the litaracy rate in kerala proud of that 👍🏻🇮🇳
I can show you people who never went to school can speak much bttr english, why you mix it with literacy it's just another language you can learn it with practice.
It's not like that once I was in puttaparthi, a urban Village in Andhra Pradesh which is frequented by lot of foreigners and I was surprised to see a fruit vendor women fold conversing in French Language with French people. And it's normal there and in hyd too i have seen taxi drivers speaking in good English though not all.

Good to see locals are helping out a tourist who is essentially going aimlessly, he is just happy to go lucky kinda guy.

Omg 😍 malayalis (Kerala people) are so lovely to foreigners,
That's cause they see a lot of tourists and most of their relatives reside abroad....so foreigners aren't a new thing for them since they've seen them more often
Whereas in other parts of India,since they aren't exposed to foreigners that much,you mostly get mixed reactions
And in tourist spots,there tend to be lot of scamsters
The key is to just embrace the foreigners and deal with them the same way the locals talk to one another..... something that's seen in kerala
They are so friendly it almost seems fake 😂...but clearly they are genuine...indians are amazing hosts...

Kerala people called it Jeerika Soda. It's not made from seeds that is flavour added. It made simple mixing of WATER , CARBON DIOXIDE AND FLOVOUR.. only 10 rupees ( only 0.15$)

Cumin seed water is normal here in kerala .. that water is carbonated with sugar .. it's good for stomach like nausea etc

Tipping is actually not a big part of Indian culture. While not tipping in USA is considered as an impolite gesture, in india its normal. Neither the customers tip nor do the people that serve expect us to tip.

that Soda is made out of cumin and is called JeerakaSoda . ( jeeraka = cumin ) . It costs 10 rupees .

That's normal here in India, We even try a slice from a sample watermelon before buying like 4-5 of them. Shopkeeper use this technique so that the customer would buy the product. Other wise he'll be in a guilt trip. MWe own a small grocery store where my father sits in his spare time, and we too use the technique. So, its ok.
