This is one of the all-time great table card tricks. It is incredibly visual, deceptive, powerful and will leave your spectators unable to figure out how they correctly separated all the black and red cards in the deck.
This trick is officially known as "Out of this World" and was invented by Paul Curry. In Paul Currys book 'Magician's Magic' he describes magician Harry Green performing this trick Winston Churchill. This trick was so deceptive that Churchill was fooled 6 times in a row!
The best part about this card trick is that it is practically self-working and is very easy to do. Make sure you don't only practise the trick itself, but also what you are saying whilst you are performing the magic trick.

Churchill "wow! Show me that again!"
Magician "er, ok, just give me a minute to, um, sort the cards"
Theyâre already sorted when the trick is over. The reds and blacks are all separated, all he has to do is stack them.
đđđ
There are loads of ways around this! I just didn't teach them in the video :)
How did 154 people give this a thumbs up? Like the others said you have the cards sorted when the trick is finished lol.
Darron McGlone cause itâs funny?
I've been performing this trick for years but it's better if you do a riffle shuffle at the beginning. Just arrange the deck 13 black 13 red 13 black 13 red then when you split it in half and shuffle it together they're only be one or two in the middle that might be messed up so when you pull out the four for the beginning of the trick you're all set up. The shuffle at the beginning of the trick take this trick to the next level. đ
I agree! This manner helps sell it. Great truck and repeatable, as Mr. Churchill found out.
This trick is special to me.
In 1978 I was at home with a book on magic I borrowed from the local library.
There were lots of tricks in this book with a guide on how to do them.
I looked for the hardest one (which was the trick seen here) and I spent an hour or two learning how to do it and I finally cracked it.
When I turned all the cards over just as shown here I saw that I had done it as perfect as anyone could do it.
I was absolutely on a high with joy and excitement as I knew this trick was so brilliant that it would truly impress anyone that was shown it.
The next day I went to my local pub and got a pint. The place was chocka and I waited a little while before I told everyone that they were gonna see a miracle card trick.
Everyone gathered round to watch me and I went through my routine and finally turned the cards over to show the line of blacks and reds completely in the order shown here.
There were gasps of wonder and surprise when I did this and I was immediately bombarded with ''Please show me how to do it'' and ''How the fuck DID YOU DO THAT?'' etc etc etc.
Y'know what, I never told anybody how to do it .
I only ever did this that one time and never again. I knew I could never get the feeling of total power I had over a room full of people that believed they were part of a dream of impossibility and craziness.
This will always be my all-time fav card trick.
Always.
I did a brilliant trick on my friend once, and regret to this day that I told him how I did it. Fuck it didn't even take that long to crack and tell him LOL, I was so excited about how brilliant it was I kinda just wanted to tell him. I definitely shouldn't have. The magic of it died that instant and he wasn't so impressed anymore.
(He was going to the store to buy new drum heads and I told him I would predict what he was going to buy. I not only predicted that but predicted the brand of beater that he put on his kick drum. He was completely blown away when I got both correct, and even thought I had called the shop to ask the guy for my friends description and what he'd bought, which I hadn't. It was so good. Should have taken it to the grave).
@@urwholefamilydied How did you predict it then? Might as well tell us too!
@@Lyth There's not that many brands that make drum heads, I picked the 5 most popular and wrote them all down and put them in different pockets. Just had to remember what was in what pocket. As for the drum beater guard he bought, I just happened to catch a glimpse of it in the bag and went out to my car immediately to find a pen and write that down on all the papers. When he got to my car I said I have it written down on a piece of paper, and for him to reveal what drum head brand he bought. When he did I reached in the appropriate pocket and pulled out the paper. He was pretty blown away by it. I think I wrote on all of them some snarky remark too.. like, "Of course you bought Remo heads, just like a pussy". Something like that.
When we got to our rehearsal space, because I thought it would be funny I pretended to grab something from my pocket, where I had then put all of the papers into, and they all fell out like I accidentally had done it, revealing the trick. It was a funny moment, but I wish I would have just kept him guessing. He had no clue how I did it. He thought I had called the store, LOL.
Which book was that?
Why use a vulgar word in the explanation. You demean yourself.
When I told my friends I wanted to become a comedian, , , they laughed at me
First steps I guess

You have already succeeded lol

0:41 "Openly and genuinely shuffled the deck of cards in front on him"
3:25 "Perform an overhand shuffle for a more convincing.."
One of these things is not like the other one.
I think someone showed me some similar trick one time claiming the same anecdote about Churchill and I immediately asked to shuffle myself, then when the presenter declined I asked for a fair shuffling method. He tried the Zarrow shuffle - didn't convince me either. Then when he argued about what is fair and what is not, and I explained which shuffling methods are legitimate and how they actually work and must be performed - he declined again, then I stated that the deck is stacked. Then he showed me anyway, and I deduced that the deck must be divided by colors. Presenter was utterly frustrated. I am doubtful that Churchill fell for this one, stacked deck tricks are by far the most common and shallow ones.
0:41 is definitely not a real shuffle lol. It is intentionally neat looking with the cards moving a lot to simulate shuffling.
this trick is called 'Out of this World' and every magician has his own version of it. Check out Lennart Green and Harry Lorrayne work on it. I havent seen the tutorial just the performance and can tell that the first shuffle is false. you need to spread the deck face up prior going into this trick in order to convince the audience. Lennart Green has his angle separation to divide the deck into reds and blacks.......this works
Azl
you must be fun at parties KucheKlizma
I'm here because I want to know the trick Toast used on Bretman đ
Same dudeđ
Same xD

its not exactly the same trick but the concept basically the same, there are tweaks that he makes that make his version slightly harder to do but they result in a more convincing trick.
By the 6th time I would assume Churchill was sober?
Oh man...someone did this trick to me years ago and blew my mind. I do a few card tricks myself and this one had me baffled, thank you so much for the tutorial. Awesome trick.
Dont get me wrong ... this isnt a bad trick.... however, i still prefer the "pull my finger" trick .... it gets me every time!
How true!
That's "The Trick That Fooled Barack Obama."
Especially during a bombing during the blitz
Darren Davenport your pull the finger trick STINKS
Hey Darren...pull my finger....
"openly and genuinely shuffled the deck in front of him" ok buddy
Never trust what a magician says, that's like a basic rule.

How do they know what pile to put the cards in to maintain red and black piles?
Iâve recently started learning some card tricks, just fun to do with friends and family. But what bothers me is how I always believe my tricks are so easy for the spectator to understand, because I have done the trick so many times itâs hard to understand that they donât know whatâs going on đ
Same feeling đJust like WTF Thats so obviousâŠbut thats the Art of doing magic Tricks
"History is written by the victor"
-Winston Churchill
Dont know why but I love that quote
Junior Disbennett, did u learn that playing cod, I know I did
@@ggthegoat3455 yes learnt the quote more after but yes originally I believe mw2 or mw3 and I liked it but didn't know it or understand but now i know and i see a different meaning than most people... it's always the good guys who win, how ironic is that "history is written by the victor" to me means that you cant trust the books they only know the winners stories not the losers story.
BUt he did win the World War, did not he ?

Churchill was just like hitler ask the Indians they got murdered on his orders,4 million because of the colour of their skin
Thank you for this. It is the simplest execution of this trick I have seen. All of the other performances involve the magician rearranging the cards after the audience shuffles the deck. Yours is extremely simple and, therefore, the most amazing. The magician is doing nothing "odd" to the cards (i.e. rearranging cards after the shuffle), he or she simply "shuffles", pulls out the 4 cards and immediately hands the deck over. Every audience that I've shown YOUR execution to has been utterly flummoxed. Now, to those people that say, what if the other person demands a reshuffle or turns the decks over...you don't want those people as your friends. They are feeble, insecure people who don't appreciate the fun of magic. They are the people that, after someone tells them something that has impressed them or is important to them, says, "Oh, you did'nt know that?? I already knew that." Really fun people to share your life with.
I would let people shuffle the cards but then I would go through and pick out the 4 aces. I rearranged the cards as I went through them looking for the aces. No one ever saw meputting the reds and blacks on top or bottom. I was very fast in doing it.
I have been performing this trick for over 40 years as a full time magician, and never thought of putting the change over cards in the middle face up( I have always silently counted to 24 then, pretended to find another red and black to turn face up Paul Curry's out of this world)Also very deceptive shuffle. This has never let me down and is a stunning trick. You never stop learning, thank you
Here's a tip if you want to take this trick to the next level. Arrange the deck 13 red 13 black 13 red 13 black. Then at the beginning of the trick split the deck in half and you could actually do a real riffle shuffle. So after that there might be one or two cards in the middle of the deck that are the wrong way so when you take out the four cards to begin the trick you're all set up. After learning this technique I've never had someone figure this trick out.
Best tutorial on OOTW that Iâve ran across on CZcams! Also like the music and back story to the trick. Very well explained. You just got a subscriber! Thank you!
This is the best magic channel .. the best ever..
He doesnt just show the magic tutorial but explains the history behind it ...
This is a truly diabolical trick. The deception is superb, especially the fact that the deck flip reverses the piles, but they won't notice it.
Fooled my grandma, mom and brother with this trick. My dad is too good with cards to fall for it though.
Nevertheless, great trick.
Is iy really works.?? Will u explain?
@@Random_vibess it does

My brother fooled me with this card trich for years. He told me that one day he'd show me how to do it. He never did... Thank you.

Great video man! The graphics were very cool, and an excellent tutorial. KUDOS!
This is great trick. Thanks for sharing it. Really love how simple, but powerful it is.
Thanks for teaching me this amazing magic that i can show my friends later on. I enjoy your videos it helps a lot thanks
No problem Bruce! Glad you liked it
Oscar is the main reason I got into magic, one day my mum bought a deck of cards and I wanted to learn some tricks, but then Oscar opened my eyes to a world of wonders and now this is one of my passions. Thanks!
Of all your videos this one is my favorite
It is the perfect magic trick. So clean. Beautiful
Churchill guessed all the cards correctly so he is a true magician. XD
LOL
Six times in a row!
Instructions unclear, how long am I suppose to keep my hamster in the microwave?
This is not funny, Kid. I should put ur sorry ass in a microwave.
Love you oscar â€â€ this trick is so amazing â€â€
I practise and perform this trick fairly often. It still amazes me when I shuffle the cards, but still see all the reds together and all the blacks together! Sometimes, some stray cards end up in the 'wrong' half, but these can be used as the four cards that will be face up anyway.
When I perform the trick, I tend to turn over the 'correct' pile first (as shown in this video), then say 'and I'll do the same with this pile' just before turning the second pile over. This helps to provide the illusion that you are doing the same action with each pile, even though they are slightly different.
I know you just explained it but Iâm honestly more confused than before đ
Learned this from my uncle when I was a kid, it blew my mind every time he performed it. It deserves a better presentation than shown here though and is one of the best show stopper card tricks out there. I didn't know it fooled Churchill, that is cool food for thought. Good work on your vids (I've watched a few others and enjoyed them).
Mind blowing yet so simple, thanks for sharing!!
This trick is simple yet amazing! Great tutorial!
Churchill was a political leader not a magician. Of course is gonna fool him
Yeah he's got other things on his mind
Yeah this trick is literally so easy to figure out to anyone who as ever preformed a magic trick
I love your profile picture
He is also one of the smartest in the world he could have figured it out
@Order11110 I agree
When I came home last night, I turned into a driveway!
what
Sweet,thanks for putting this up
So simple! Love that you can do it right again, no setup
I noticed that the flip of the incorrect pile reversed the order, I just didn't pause the video to think that through at the time and know for certain that it was part of the trick. Also, for shuffling bit, it seems like one useful thing is that by picking out four cards you can probably correct any minor mistakes in the color mix.
the tick that made mat franco wiN THE AGT xD
Nice trick bro!
Would need a bit of practice this one.
Thanks for the tutorial! đđ
This truly is an amazing trick! It will get really good reactions! If it's done smoothly and with no mistakes it will look like actual magic! This one is my go to magic trick to impress people!
This guy explained me the trick and i didint even know how tf he do that
Churchill should've asked to shuffle the cards himself.
Wow! So simple! Yet so Brilliant
Thank You even after Your explanation the trick is still attractive to see once again.
For slow learners (like me :p), you might be wondering why Churchill's choice didn't affect the ordering why the deck wasn't messed up with a mixture of red and black cards?
Well here's why
4:34 ---- 4:49 he is dealing only red cards RESULT = [ *left*- all red; *right* -all red except 1 at the bottom]
5:17 ---- 5:28 he is dealing only black cards RESULT = [ *left*- all red+black; *right* - all red except 1 at the bottom and 1 at the top]
Now he just flips! and you can see those 2 extra cards taken out at the start were functioning just as a "marker"
But to determine the correct pile and the wrong pile, the magician needs to know the very first card which the other person guesses..how to know that when the magician is not knowing or seeing that very first card facedown which the pwrson is going to guess red or black?
Dude your videos are awesome you should upload a video every day
I love you â„â€
Thanks mate!
â€
That was beautiful brother. Thank you.
So simple but yet so effective . Amazing ^^
Damn ur editing and trick was awesome keep it up
Cheers Shivam!
you are telling me how to do this and i still don't understand how it works.
Tristram Coffin thatâs because the explanation actually makes no sense.
amazing trick and so much creativity...
I just love how you made the introduction...it just make it more interesting
Nice tricks
An improvement when selecting the 2 red and 2 black cards:
- Do not take the 4 cards right in the middle of the deck (looks too contrived).
- As you go through the deck, have someone else say stop to 'randomly' select the 2 red and 2 black cards. You vary the speed of going through the deck to ensure you have the necessary cards.
- After pulling out each of the 4 cards, put them face down so as not to unnecessarily give away info about the stacked deck.
you can also say something like "i like aces",and search the deck for 4 aces to start the trick
This was a demonstration for teaching the basics of the trick to the novice. Like any pursuit, one must learn the fundamentals -you cannot teach a child to read by handing them Ulysses by James Joyce - when they do not yet know the alphabet. đ
For the intermediate prestidigitator these variations are fair suggestions. Of course, if one were a world-class, magician I am certain they could come up with infinite variations of this manipulation.
@@defiantlemming2039 Yes. Great trick. On behalf of my grandchildren, thank you.
Amazing like always
That was very simple and a very good trick... Loved it
2:53 u saw him flip the deck the other way, so he changed the sequence.
Oh yeah, forgot to mention, Churchill was really drunk at the time.
Drunk at the time as in "between 1935 and 1945"?
When *wasn't* Churchill drunk? He only had the balls to face down Hitler because he was out of his gourd on drugs (in this case, alcohol). Anybody sober would have given up from the get go.
that trick is so simple yet so elegant!
Great video sirđ„đ„đ€đ
For some reason I'm not understanding this.
If all the cards aren't shuffled and half the upper is red how does he split to the black going back and forth?
Late reply but...One of the piles will be wrong (reversed). A simple sleight (flip) irreverses them. So you put red on the black and black on the red as long as you do the flip correctly at the reveal. Hope that helps. 4:50
When you put black cards on the red and black pile, if you then take the red card that represents the red cards, and switches it with the black card in that pile, that's how you do it.
Thats the trick xD
To put it a different way, the first two randomly selected piles are all red cards, where the second two randomly selected piles are all black cards.
All the cards back n forth r same color red red..then after up cards black black. U can't get one wrong
i actually did this trick to my sister. she flipped the f out haha ty my mab
Really really amazing...
Was so easy n tricky. â€ïžâ€ïžâ€ïž
I knew how its done but this shuffling fooled me soo Hard. Well done !!
âOne of the greatest minds ever knownâ. Hahahah
The best setup for this is quarter red, quarter black, quarter red, quarter black. Then one faro shuffle with the deck split exactly in half will put the deck into red black order with a real shuffle
Nice.
Yeah that's a neat idea. Of course, you can use any false shuffle you want as well. I thought the one in the video was particularly nice because it looks like a normal overhand shuffle, and exploits the fact that the rules are different when all you care about is color.
You can, but I prefer to do it this way, then there's nothing to see because you're actually shuffling. Nothing looks as real as real.
I suppose. But unless you're doing a tabled faro, I've always thought it looked a bit suspicious. The first time I saw it, my immediate reaction was "wtf, you can just push the cards together?"
Geraint Clarke talks about a similar idea of stacking the deck (in mnemonica, for example), then doing an anti-faro prior to the performance. Then you can do a completely genuine shuffle and end up in stack.
This is a really powerful trick you fooled me, I thank you for revealing it. This trick has 2 moves really, you control shuffle the deck and do a slight at the end, so simple but so powerful. For other people that are looking for amazing magic tricks my all time favorite is 2 Card Monte that was first perform by David Blane years ago, that one is little more advance than this one but as powerful.
This is a devilishly great trick!!!
Iâve tried it on my daughter but instead of a fake shuffle i split the deck-easy when theres a color split- then i asked her to pick a pile and shuffle without looking at the cards and id do the same.. then after both are actually shuffled i put the two back together and carry on with the rest đ
This trick are mind blowing trick thes magic are very best trick
One of my favourites - been doing this one for over 20 years
I like this trick and your card magic pro course is best I learn Magic in 2 weeks thanks Oscar Owen to make card Magic pro course love you
2:32 when he snapped I got a notification and it scared međđ
Churchill was not a card shark, a card shark will know straight away what the crooked dealer is doing.
So will a card SHARP. No such thing as a card shark. A card sharp will eat you alive if he hears this out of your mouth because he knows you know nothing about cards.
CCPaintballvideos It varies, both "card shark" and "card sharp" can bear the same meaning, with "sharp" being preferred in British English
Redblade being a bit pedantic but it a card sharp not shark..... just saying đ
CCPaintballvideos triggered
So the moral of the story is, DON'T TRY THIS TRICK ON A CARD SHARP!
Excellent trick. Thank you
Iâve seen this card trick before, itâs pretty simple but also very impressive!
Fucking good...this is I'm looking for....mind blowing card trick
All ur video totally awesome..đđđđđ
Ivan Max you are absolutely correct here. I also appreciate all the mind blowing magical videos of Oscar.
Be a lot better if he did not say "fairly" and "genuinely" shuffled. This trick is good enough to not need those lies thrown in.
Yes, this is a real good one. I do these kinds of tricks to a friend of mine at work, the gimmick and no sleight of hand kinds, and they freak him out. Then I show him how and he does them to his kids and they freak out.
If Churchill asked him to perform it 6 times in a row, how could he reorder the deck to be half red half black while everyone looked at him?
I'd guess this story has some artistic license added to it, to enhance the effect.
But the deck is ordered each time at the end of the trick
Amazing, thank you!
I luvv ur atmosphere the way to do magic đ
I think Matt Franco preformed something like this
Sydney Law he did I just finished watching it
What if the spectator guesses that 40 cards is red?
It won't actually matter because of the 2 middle cards, and the fact that they will all flip over for the other side
+ it's impossible to have 40 red cards in a standard deck
The spectator of the trick would make the way the trick works obvious if they were to put every card on red the whole time, but it would still technically have the appearance of working based on the move the magician does on the second pile
Moral of the story is if someone is doing a trick for you, don't be a jerk by doing something extreme like that
@@tiger5869 this is why you're the guy at the party that guys want to be and women want to be with. Sorry for assuming your gender there.
I want wait to try this. Its great
Very nicely done. I am impressed.
If I get to choose which pile to put the cards couldn't I just put all the cards on the red pile and foil the trick?
Tell your spectator to make it roughly 50/50 and this will never happen
Yes it will still work. I know and constantly perform this trick. It works 100% of the time.
What if the spectator asks us to deal each card face up??
That'll certainly spoil the trick
;)
Richie if you let spectators fuck up your trick you're a shitty magician :p
You'd just end up putting all the cards of one color on the red pile, if the top half of the deck was red then the pile would be right, otherwise it'd be all wrong black cards and would end up flipped during the reveal to make it right.
After you dealt the first half of the deck, if they were all red cards to the red pile, the piles would then switch colors. You could then put all the remaining cards under the now-black pile, and they would be right also and the trick is done, although it makes it more obvious that the deck was split by color from the beginning. If you still insisted on putting the rest of the cards on the other "new" red pile (which could also be prevented if the dealer says something like "well, since you put alll the cards on red, I'm going to put the rest on black"), the dealer could bunch and flip the cards to show the black cards under the original black card, of course it would be easier to notice something was up since you'd remember putting all the cards under all the red cards.
wow this trick is amazing and so straightforward LOL imma practice this trick
