- As it stands today, the Houston Texans are a joke of an NFL franchise that has no respect around the league at all, but why is that? At one point the Houston Texans had very good playoff teams but always fell short so in this video, we explore how the Texans fumbled incredible talents like Deshaun Watson, JJ Watt, and Deandre Hopkins to end up as the worst team in the NFL. That Divisional Game vs the Chiefs is the craziest thing I’ve ever watched. They didn’t just blow a 24 point lead. They blew it in 10 minutes. The score was 28-24 Chiefs by halftime. After kicking that field goal, they were destroyed 51-7. I’ve never seen a team go from being blown out to blowing the other team out as quickly as the Chiefs did.
Yeah, I'm with you on this. The change was so sudden that it seems like an LSD trip to claim the Texans were ever up 24-0. Never seen a franchise collapse as fast as they did the second the Chiefs got serious about football that day.

Watching it was, and still is, the best game I've ever seen live. 13 Seconds is a close 2nd, but the comeback was electric. You could feel the animosity in the air coming into halftime and then everything went out the window.

Watching David Carr slowly develop PTSD every time he sees a defense because of the Texans, made me sad. He could've been great or a lifelong instant starter at worse if some other team got him

Well like he said in the video. The Texans could've had an average o line but they lost 2 starters that they were relying on. I agree with you tho. Carr could've been great but damn 70 sacks is a nightmare for any Rookie QB.
They should have drafted Julius Peppers, and then tried to get Doug Flutie or Vinny Testaverde--if they had done that, maybe they get someone like Philip Rivers...

As a Texans fan you pretty much hit the nail on the head with our history… except… you forgot one teeny tiny extension to the Bill O’Brien Saga that helps make the Texans story even more depressing, though I don’t blame you for forgetting, even some Texans fans tend to overlook this man, but once you see the timeline, you can’t ignore his presence: the tenure of Jack Easterby.
BOB actually brought Easterby to Houston in 2019 after serving as the Patriots character coach and team pastor. And every mind boggling thing that occurred since, he’s been the main cause or had some influence in some way.
Brian Gaine’s firing? Yep that was Easterby.
GM O’Brien? Easterby (BOB only got the job because Jack tried and failed to poach Nick Caserio from NE and almost got the Texans slapped with tampering accusations)
The D-Hop trade? While O’Brien deserves the blame for trading him for a Snickers bar, our good friend Jack Easterby planted that idea into his head, saying quote: “we need to move on from ‘that person’” (Hopkins was “that person”)
He also changed the locker room culture which drove many players away like Watt and Deshaun (before we knew he liked his massages)
Remember that time the Texans interviewed Josh McCown for the Head Coach job. Take a guess who he’s church buddies with. This was almost a disaster the second time around, and it seems like Easterby was gonna get his church buddy before Brian Flores sued the league. That’s how we ended up with Lovie Smith in the first place. Hell, he wasn’t even interviewed for the job until AFTER the lawsuit was served.
As Executive VP he also fired serval front office employees (almost all of them having stellar reputations league wide) and hiring subpar replacements). Did I mention he was a PASTOR before taking the VP job? It was so bad the owner had to take the blame.
Is it any coincidence that the Texans morale boosted significantly after Easterby finally got fired in 2022. That should tell you how bad this guy was for the Texans.

Poor Ryan Mallet, he was loved by our family in Arkansas and my uncle even met him multiple times. From his underwhelming time in the league to him sadly passing away earlier this year he will be missed
He’s still probably the best QB to ever be a Hog from a talent perspective. I thought he’d be good in the NFL but his brain and heart didn’t seem to be ready for it. RIP though, I really loved his years in Arkansas.

It's insane what a rookie coach and rookie qb and edge rusher can do for a team when chosen correctly.
At this time, we still haven't accomplished anything yet. But at no time since I've been a Houston football fan, I've never had more hope in this team than I do now.
And thank God Bill O'Brian is gone, or he'd probably have traded CJ for a safety, a 4th round draft pick, and some pocket lint.

Made a qb in madden 16 for the Texans, one of the best careers I’ve played in madden, Deandre Hopkins and a few generated players were iconic, had a TE Sam edwards and RB Josh mason, names are still drilled into my head they were so good

1. The incompetence of the ownership to hand over the keys to Bill O'Brien.
2. The Rosencopter game against the Colts.
3. Letting all those pro bowl players get away and getting nothing in return for any of them.
4. How Kubiak and Wade went on to win a Superbowl with the Broncos.
5. Watson sitting out right after they gave him a massive contract.

4. Kubiak was handed an unstoppable team. You or I could have taken the Broncos all the way that year.

As someone who lives in the UK and been following NFL for 5 years and really only fully for the last 2 years, your channel is probably my favourite for nfl content. Especially these documentary videos so hopefully you keep them up!
You should do a timeline of the packers after their first super bowl. They had so many chances to get to the big game and never could. They were always fun to watch with Aaron, jordy, lacy, jones, adams, Cobb, etc
i love the idea, but i think i might just do a review after the rodgers super bowl, and maybe focus more on how rodgers failed to win another super bowl. Otherwise the video would be like 6 hours long

The fact that the Texans have a past like this and are more successful than my Cleveland Browns in the past 2 decades reminds me that being a Browns fan is nothing but painful.
I watched two of your documentaries, and I really admire your narrating and storytelling. This one is very impressive, because you was was able to keep a consistent theme running for almost 50 minutes entertaining, while keeping bias minimum and within the frame of the story. Respect. 👍👍

Fun Fact: that 30-0 Wildcard loss to the Chiefs in 2015 was the last time an NFL playoff game ended in a shutout.
To me, any team that gets shutout in the playoffs should automatically get the 5th overall pick in the draft.

Even as a Texans fan I find this video great. Knew most of the stuff but also learned something new. I really think Demeco Ryans is gonna completely change the culture with his fire and being a Texans legend. Going aggressive in this draft was something I've never seen this franchise do before. That beginning of the end ro me was definitely that DeAndre Hopkins trade. Even if the team rebounded after that, I'd argue that Houston had a Super Bowl Caliber team with Watson, Hopkins, and Watt on there. They just needed a few more pieces to push them over the top. It still remains one of the biggest "What Ifs" ever in my eyes

As a fan I can tell you that the energy and culture in Houston has done a complete 180. The new Texans owner has been listening to the fans. He hired Nick Caserio who has been a pretty good GM so far. He has hired Demeco Ryans and everyone in Houston loves it. We loved Demeco since he played here and now that we hired him along with our sneaky good young talent. This team is in good hands. Maybe not this year but next year I can see them competing for the division. They could possibly do it this year as well. After 3 miserable seasone we finally have hope as a fan base thanks to Cal McNair.
The 23-24 Texans are the greatest team in franchise history. I just JJ would come out of retirement and experience success with us

He is hated even more in Houston then King Bill and has had numerous high profile articles written about him during his time here. You could do an entire video on him alone.

Being present for the Divisional Game against the Chiefs is still THE game to me, even over 13 seconds against the Bills. It was almost unreal the comeback/collapse that occurred that quickly. The disbelief and anger of the 1st half was almost like watching a separate game from the explosive cheering in the 2nd half.
How the tables turned was almost textbook and even though it cemented their downfall into the 2020's, it was beautiful to say the least.
As an Eagles fan I feel very fortunate to not be a Texans fan

I see a team that hired a hot shot HC candidate (when so many said he would not even consider The Texans), drafted a pretty good QB prospect, and have a lot of picks after getting rid of the predator at QB who was given the bag and holding out because he's a big diva, too. So things can change pretty quickly in the NFL with perception at least. The Tire fire of tire fires recently and now a lot of optimism with the possible long-term QB added too.

TJ Yates was actually the 3rd string. Matt Leinart was the #2 QB behind Matt Schaub. Pretty sure Matt Leinart got hurt in his first start and TJ Yates took over from there
He did he had a good game against the Jaguars but got hurt near halftime which led to TJ Yates
The Texans actually made the playoffs/division titles more often than a number of teams (both four times) including the Cowboys during the 2010s. They won just as many playoff games (2) as the Cowboys in the 2010s. This video also fails to mention that original owner Bob McNair died in 2018, and then the spoiled surviving family has been firing coaches and other staff left and right at will.
