- The San Francisco 49ers as an NFL franchise have been extremely successful, but in more recent years, it's been a whole nother story. Although they've been able to make the Super Bowl behind both Kyle Shanahan and Jim Harbaugh, the 49ers have never been able to win it all. So join me as we dive into the many factors that came together in the last 15 years that have led to some of the best players of all time retiring from the NFL without a Super Bowl ring, and how the 49ers have mastered the art of heartbreak. if we are going to be honest......refs fucked us in 2 super bowls......crabtree was held and dpi in the same play and the refs refused to call it. one of the refs a later point that was there said they didnt want to call a foul that would change the game. he literally said out loud they gave favoritism to the team who is leading. the first chiefs super bowl the refs refused to call holding on any of the chiefs....there was a def offsides that was so blatent and didnt get called. if they called the hold on bosa when it was like 3rd and 35 that mahomes needed the time to be able to throw that ball and a hold call would have been 3rd and 45 with then a heavy rush....0 chance they made that. rapping your full arm around the neck and grading inside the jersey 1 yard from patty was a refusal to call....the no call on jimmy when he gave him self up out of bound the defender still hit him.....i dunno how we got fucked 2 times by refs and the 3rd time one of the best defenders got a non contact achillie injury and then the special teams curse is still alive and well

The biggest question to wonder is what's more painful, being a Cowboys or 49ers fan. The Cowboys haven't won in 29 years and have reached the playoffs 13 times since their last title but without a conference championship appearance. Meanwhile the 49ers have made 7 NFC Championships and 3 Super Bowls since 2011 but have come away empty handed every time and haven't won in 30 years. They will most likely be a top 3 team again in 2024 but then could also match the Vikings, Broncos, and Bills for the only teams to lose 4 Super Bowls in a row. It makes sense why the Cowboys get more attention because of their annoying fans and their nickname America's Team but the 49ers are no different instead choosing to choke in the NFC Championship and Superbowl instead of the wildcard or divisional rounds.
This team is gonna be shook after that loss they'll probably make the playoffs but they won't be the number one seed in the NFC I bet this is Kyle shanahans last chance which he honestly doesn't deserve imo

If a coach can consistently get to the nfc championship/Super Bowl no matter the roster, he’s a great coach. He’s inarguably- a top 3 play caller, top 3 offensive head coach, and every qb that he coaches for has their career season. Same with Andy Reid. Not Kyle’s fault he happened to line up against a guy who will end his career as the greatest football player ever both his Super Bowl runs

I'm a raiders fan and although in the nfl all I feel as a fan is pain, in the nba I'm a Lakers fan so I kinda get what you mean. The lakers have 17 championships and have won a lot. Even though we lose heartbreakers I'm still pretty satisfied being a contender and having a great team rather than them be terrible.

Thank you, Tubfrog for this video. For me, born and raised as a California native and just entered the world of the NFL after Super Bowl 56 (Rams Victory). I didn't think that the 49ers would keep coming back, [short], and worst of all tossing away their 3rd Super Bowl. I'm infuriated as why the 49ers keep losing the Super Bowl. I have so many complaints about them being great yet pathetic at worst. I don't really know when someone will get a grip and end their drought. All now we can say is laugh and rage at the 49ers.

This is just my entire 49ers fan life in one vid started watching when I was in 5th grade when they lost the 2012 superbowl. All us 20 something year old niners fans have only seen greatest and failure on the highest scale. Still been a fun ride we could have 3 sbs but we have none😂

This year will mark 77 years since the Cardinals last NFL championship pre-Super Bowl, and that was back when the franchise was in Chicago.
It might have to be a 3 video essay on how much of a failure the Cardinals Franchise is as a whole.
I'm hoping someone does one predicting the failure coming up for the Bears. They had two streaks in two years where the offense played well & the second one was right when the Bears acquired Montez Sweat & a new DC. So the HC Matt Eberflus was busy acclimating them to the team & we saw the return of good offense by the Bears.
This means that Getsy who has been fired was calling the winning plays, & that Eberflus, the retained HC *is the one who **_cancelled them twice AFTER SEEING_** that they worked.* & that *_all_* 8 games play-called by Getsy without Eberlfus' interference are all better than the 26 Eberflus meddled in & of course that he can't seem to stop himself *from* meddling.
How long before this micro-managing control freak who _bragged about_ meddling in the offense (which was weird considering their record under him doing that) just sabotages Williams for the sake of it, or because Williams starts making good plays out of the structure Eberflus imposes? There are *TONS* of examples of obviously bad play-callers being retained despite their ineptitude, isn't that right Matt Patricia & Josh McDaniels?

CMC had 30 rushes in the Superbowl. That wasn't the problem. CMC Fumble, Unlucky punt muff, blocked Extra Point (Moody didn't miss ONE extra point all season until that moment) I'm convinced we were cursed when we moved to Santa Clara at this point

I'm a Raven. I loved the experience of the Harbowl, I enjoyed the drama of the fabricated game stoppage due to power outage (I'm just kidding... kinda), and I'm glad that game ended in our second Lombardi trophy.
But there was a dialog going on during this time that always bugged me. The elite QB dialog.
Of course you have Rodgers, Manning, Brady, and Brees. In my opinion, they were the "Mount Rushmore" of elite quarterbacks during this era. But sports media wanted to throw a LOT of QBs in that conversation.
Granted, the early 2010 had a slew of extremely good QBs. Stafford. Ryan. Rivers (although I never really liked the guy). Newton. Wilson. The list goes on.
And, of course, Colin Kaepernick and Joe Flacco were both in that conversation in 2013.
Here's the thing; Kaepernick was one of the best QBs in the league in 2012/2013. Hands down. And out of all the great-but-not-elite QBs of the time, Colin is the only one I would put on deck as a potential elite passer. The dude was absolutely amazing.
Joe Flacco, though I absolutely love the guy and always believed in his talent (even when Baltimore fans turned on him), was never an elite QB.
I remember watching sports analysts talking about Flacco after he got that $120M deal as though he was on the pantheon with a Rodgers, Manning, Brady, or Brees. And that's hilarious.
Joe was one of the best game-manager QBs to ever suit up. And he had big games, he put up decent stats for us... but Matt Stafford was a more polished and potentially elite QB by FAR.
My respect for Flacco is immense. I sorta wish his career would have seen more success than it did, because the guy, his personality, his passion for the game, his ability to remain ice cold in pressure situations... could have been in talks for the Hall of Fame.
But that's not what we got.
So I'm glad so many football fans have respect and admiration for Joe Cool. He's proven to be a fan favorite with fans of all teams. Well... maybe not the Steelers...
But y'all were trippin' calling my man an elite QB. And Kaepernick should have been given a chance to prove that he was that guy.

Eli’s NFC championship against the 49ers was what really changed my opinion on Eli. To me, he’s one of the toughest SOBs to ever play the position. I watched that man take a freaking beating, get up bloody and dirty, and keep standing in there and throwing it while getting hit.

As a new sports fan that picked his teams in 2020, I couldn't have chosen a more painful set than the Miami Heat and these Niners. Same story pretty much.
As a Seahawk fan, I have to say we respect the Niners most of all. We are almost deadlocked with them in W/L over the years, and have, I think, emulated their depth and willingness to reach down the draft for surprise franchise QBs. I think it's our turn now to be the bullies, and lo - they shall be the Whiners once again.

I'm also a Seahawks fan but there is just something about the style of football the 49ers play that I find dull AF and generally unwatchable. I didn't even bother watching the super bowl because they were in it. Highly amused at the outcome of course, but honestly I hope they have a down season and kinda fade for awhile.

@@kenw2225 The Niners are currently one of the deepest teams in the league and any QB is going to shine for them. Look at Kaepernick - never threw for over 20 TDs in a season, averaged about 14 TDs, had one of the worst QBR in the league, couldn't even run at the end of his short career, and yet was successful, simply because his team was talented and deep. I can't see Purdy being that successful for a normal struggling team, but wouldn't be surprised if the Niners have a good year simply because of their depth.
