I didn't use the yarn you did I tried a bulky 5 worked great. I didn't use the same number chains and I think it was to small. How many yards do you think this pattern is?

      You're welcome! I'm glad you enjoyed this pattern. For this blanket, I used about 1.5-2 cakes of Caron Baby Cakes #4 weight yarn. This ended up being about 1,120 yards. My finished blanket ended up being about 33W x 31L. Hope that helps!

    • @AmandaCrochets

      Thank you! My best advice for beginners is to insert a stitch marker in the very first stitch and the very last stitch of the row, moving this up as you make your rows. This helps to make sure you’re getting all your stitches and your ends are even 😊🧶

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  Před 3 lety +2

      I'm glad you enjoy this pattern! For row 1 you should have 100 stitches as you start with 103 chains, but are skipping the first 3 chains, ending with 100. You should get the same stitch count for every row afterwards.

  • @michellesanchez741
    @michellesanchez741 Před 3 lety

    @amandachrochets it's official, I have Finally found the ( self striping ) pattern I have been looking for . Using @lionbrand Mandala Ombre in " BALANCE" I am (trying ) to make a blanket that will be a keepsake for my first grandaughter who is due to arrive in August. ❤ Since I'm a Semi-beginner ( came back in november after 20+yrs ) who only learned to make granny squares and pot holders along with making the Skein into a ball and the basic stitches SC, DC, TC, CHAIN . Now, I have made 3 blankets that were all 1 row repeats ( 2 DC in 1 ST, skip 1 and repeat) with the exact same stitch. That was all a learning curve for sure as i ended up with a Queen Size blanket, wow that was a huge project that i didnt realize was going to be that big when i decided to use a 8mm hook instead of using a 6mm like i did on the blanket before that, using the same brand and type of yarn!!! lesson learned lol
    TY so much for this absolutely beautiful blanket and for teaching me a new stitch pattern.

    I finally Finished it!!! I'm ready for the boarder. My blanket is measuring 34 " wide by 46" long. Perfect Crib Size Blanket. How do you do this border first row. Being that one side of the blanket are chain 3 ends and the other is chain 1 ???

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  Před 2 lety +2

      That’s great! For the first row of your border, you will work one single crochet around your entire blanket. You will put three single crochets in each of the corners. In my video, I show you exactly what I mean. Hope that helps!

      I used a self striping yarn for this blanket. However if you’re using a solid color yarn, you can use whatever color you’d like.

    @amandacrochets HELP !!!!! I've been trying to make this blanket for weeks !! Somewhere along my 25 rows I have messed up the last stitch and number of chains to turn. My edges are def not right. I came back here and rewatched your tutorial. I have been chaining 3 at the end of every row 🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️ somewhere along the way. My question is , should i take 20 rows out ( seems i was ok for first 5 rows ) and start them again or is there anything else I can do ? Do you think the Picot boarder will be enough to coverup my edges?? This Mandala Ombre Yarn is not what i was expecting as a size 4 weight. I have had issues with it since the get go but I am determined to make it work !!!!! I WANT THIS BLANKET TO BE PERFECT FOR MY FIRST GRANDDAUGHTER WHO IS DUE TO ARRIVE IN EARLY AUGUST!!! I CHAINED 123 AND IT'S BEEN TAKING ME ABOUT 30 MINUETS TO CROCHET EACH ROW !!! I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO.

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  Před 3 lety +1

      What could help keep those edges straight is using stitch markers. Place one in the very first stitch of your row and then again in the very last stitch of each row. That way every time you complete a row you know what stitches to work in. Maybe the yarn is difficult to work with because it’s hard to see the stitches? Sometimes “busy” yarn can be difficult for beginners. If your blanket doesn’t look too lopsided then you can continue with your blanket. However, you can always tear apart the rows and start again, but that’s your preference. The border will help hide the uneven edges a little, but if the edges are really noticeable, it might be better to try again. Hope that helps!

    Nice pattern; however, I wouldn’t use a self-striping yarn because of the two different colors in the border which doesn’t look good. Thanks for sharing though.

    • @AmandaCrochets

      It all depends on how you’d like the finished product to look like. You can certainly use a solid border for this blanket if you so choose 😊 thanks!

    • @AmandaCrochets
      @AmandaCrochets  Před 2 lety +1

      I’m so sorry to hear about your blanket! My advice would be to start with a small swatch first to make sure you’re seeing every stitch and understanding how it’s worked up. You can also go up a hook size if you feel your stitches are too tight and you’re not able to see them properly. Good luck!

    I;m a beginner. I must have watched 50 plus videos and NONE of them are even close to being as useful and educational as yours. The BIG pros of your video are. 1) The very CLOSEUP view 2) the slower pace 3) the verbal instruction and outstanding explanations 4) the pitfalls to watch-out for along with rotation of your hands to help your viewer FULLY see what you are doing and what NOT to do. I am going to look at your other videos and I am sooooooo hoping they will help me. I just finished my 1st afghan and it looked horrible. Lost of lost and added stitches that I had to correct by blocking and steaming. Maybe now with your instruction I can determine what caused these misses and afghan number 2 will be a whole lot better. I know this is an older video but I hope you will see this comment and praise for a job well done.
