Hey folks! So, the first video I would 'plan' to watch would be "Avatar: The Way of Water" and I've got this really cool story to share WHY. It's about the first time my grandson Brandon and I fired up my new projector, and trust me, it's a tale worth telling.
Alrighty then... Here we go. I'd just gotten my first projector, and I was super pumped to watch "Avatar" on it. I mean, who wouldn't be, right? Popcorn ready, lights dimmed - and then, in walks Brandon, my eight-year-old movie critic. He sees the setup and goes, "Can we watch 'Up'?" You know, the movie with the floating house? How could I say no to that?
Sooooooo...... NOW we’re watching "Up." And let me tell you, it wasn't just a movie night. It was an experience. I thought it would be just a cute kid's movie, but wow, it was so much more. That night turned out to be more than just about watching a movie on a new gadget. It was about us, hanging out, sharing laughs, and getting lost in a great story. That adventure with Carl and Russell in "Up" kind of became our adventure.
Now, cut to today. Brandon's all grown up and about to graduate. Thinking back to that night, it really hits home how the best times in life are those you don't plan out.
So, here's the deal. If we win, I'm giving the gift card to Brandon as a grad gift - a little throwback to our awesome movie night, and a little something for his next chapter.

First movie projected was actually the Pink Floyd Pulse concert to an old Sony 3 gun commercial projector I bought secondhand from a university surplus. Hooked ever since. Next projector would power a small theater for a little town in the midwest. One of my best memories, as kids could get up close to Nemo and Dori at their size. Projectors are magical, and back then, it was the only way to make films life-sized.

Since I setup my projection home theater at the beginning of the pandemic, I've only gone to see 3 movies in the cinema. Maverick 👍, Oppenheimer👍 and The Marvels👎👎👎👎. Ive since seen all but the latter on my home cinema and now question my decision for going to the movie theaters at all.
Question…do movies automatically adjust to IMAX or do you need to buy specific discs? I remember a few years back with THX, the audio sounded identical to my non certified setup. Was a waste of money in my opinion.

I would put this projector in my garage so my son can watch movies and sports with his friends. Our house is not that big so this would be a godsend.
The first movie I'd watch on the Xgimi is Mars or Interstellar
First movie I would watch is Terminator 2. Guilty pleasure all the way.
I would LOVE this projector! I go see every movie in IMAX whenever possible so having an IMAX Enhanced projector would be awesome.
I bought the IMAX Enhanced version of Spider-Man Across the Spider-Verse from Sony on my PS5 which would be perfect to watch on it 😍

Why aren't all new projectors short throw? Doesn't that solve most of the issues with traditional ceiling mounted?

Probably too late, but I would take 30 minutes to show parts of gaming, 3D and a movie, then I would let the family divide up the next three hours - son, gaming; daughter/husband, 3D; my wife and I, a movie.
I swear this is just constructive criticism. If you're using an ai audio enhancer for your voice, I suggest toning it down a bit if you're able to. It gets really muddy when speaking fast in a noisy environment. Great vid! thanks for sharing this. I will definitely consider getting something like this in the future.

I wonder how this new XGiMI projector would be any different from what projectors are currently capable of doing.. My old Benq W1070 projects a 16:9 screen ratio. Only few scenes in movies like Oppenheimer and Interstellar are filmed in the IMAX ratio. On those particular scenes, the black bars from the widescreen ratio are removed from the image and it opens up to cover the full 16:9 ratio of the screen; yielding the full IMAX ratio experienced in the theater.
IMAX ratio is 4:3, so your projector can’t project that. Unless you have black bars on the sides
If I had one of these I would use it to support my computer and the first movie I would watch is Spider-Man into the spider verse. Because I think the style of animation they do is incredible and would look so crisp on something like this.
I’d watch Shrek. If I won I’d finally build myself a pc.

If this has manual controls, it could be an incredible motorized special effects light.
We need 21:9 projectors or multi resolution in general. I don't know they make 16:9 the dominant in projector. I watch movies on my projector I don't care much about TV and if it's TV, that can be adjusted. I just don't understand why they keep doing projectors WITHOUT 21:9. Mind baffling to me.

I’d replace my old aging dim projector ✌️
I recently replace the bulb on my "dim" projector. It makes a significant difference and its a relatively inexpensive investment. It also will hold you at bay while makeing a decision on your next generation projector purchase.

Looks great but what about the image processing? Not everything worth watching was shot in 4k. The Sony TVs are hard to pass on when you consider the detail you’d get viewing older content. How do projectors like this measure up?
You could just feed it with an Apple TV streamer or something else, and let that box do the upscaling (and Dolby Vision or HD10 standard too).
I'd take a week off and watch all 9 seasons of Seinfeld's
