As a Buckinghamshire resident, I can say that the chained swan is because all swans in the UK belong to the monarch, and the chains represent this royal connection. Buckinghamshire has this on their flag because traditionally we kept many swans for the monarchs

Not all swans. Just the unmarked mute swans can be claimed by the monarch if they wanted to.
The Bucks swan is not referencing that law though. It’s just referencing the fact that historically county bred swans for royalty

Not objectively, however, from their own perspectives, it isn't too complicated to imagine how each of them would appear to be the videos first viewer. Simply having them all load the youtube page on which this video appears before the others have clicked it, will show it as having zero views, and considering it takes a few seconds to comment on a video, and the average reaction time is in the hundreds of milliseconds, it's not too absurd to also have three people click on a video and see no other comments. While youtube's views and likes do now update live, from the viewpoint of anyone who has clicked a video with no views, it will cause it to appear that everyone is watching after you, as the numbers begin to tick up. It seems like you should start thinking before you comment.

Yes, every Marylander gushes over their flag. I’m a transplant here, and they certainly go crazy for it.
That design is on everything from swimsuits to magnetic crabs slapped on the back of their cars.

7:09 the reason why Worcester has pears on it is because it's alluding to The Battle of Worcester where famously King Charles II hid in a pear tree which was in Worcester as Worcester was a Cavilier county which Charles would rest his troops in.
Didn't the battle of Agincourt happen during the 100 years war?

The Vatican City flag error reminded me that the Ordnance Survey in the UK put deliberate errors in their maps to detect copyright infringements. I'm sure most people here have watched the Map Men video on it!

The lines in the Israeli flag represent a garment from the Jewish tradition called a "talit". The tallit is a square garment with wicks at each vertex that Jews wear during morning prayer (for ultra-Orthodox Jews the lines are black on white fabric, but some people wear a tallit in light blue on white). They also added the Star of David sign to the flag, which was considered the national symbol of Judaism in our day.

I think a lot of the backlash there has been to modern flag redesigns in recent years is because flag enthusiasts have taken the NAVA principles of flag design far too literally. NAVA's "Good flag, bad flag" actually says that these principles are GUIDELINES, not absolute rules, i.e. a flag does NOT have to follow all of these principles to be a good flag. (Seychelles, for instance, uses more than 3 colours, yet it is a PHENOMENAL flag!) To me, what these 5 principles of good flag design ultimately boil down to is that a flag should (1) be easily recognizable, and (2) represent its jurisdiction well (meaningful symbolism)
Its easy to make Jokes aboout US-Flags but the german states of Lower Saxony, Saarland and Rhineland-Palatinate (where i´m from) didn´t put much effort in Flag creation either ...

The flag of Russia actually is inspired by the flag of The Netherlands. Tsar Peter the Great lived in The Netherlands for a while (to study Ship making among others). He was impressed with the Dutch flag and wanted a similar one for his own country. When he returned to Russia he took a Dutch flag with him and had his tailor alter the flag. He cut off the red band from the top and sewed it back onto the flag at the bottom...

1: I don't know what you think about the Iowa flag, my state, but I love it & don't ever want to see it changed.
2: The Italian civil ensign has a coat of arms & the government ensign has the emblem of the Italian Republic. (Have to mention this since my maternal grandparents came from Italy & I still have relatives over there I am in contact with.

They probably wouldn't change anything to the swiss flag if this happened. Or to any flag who has a coat of arms on it.
