Playing as industrialised China is pain though, since your literacy will be so low and techs so behind it will take until the 1920s just to catch up to Russian tech. Sure you can send literally 1000 brigades of poop infantry in to every single battle, but I also dont want rsi
Spheres of Influence in this game are so incredibly annoying. In all of my years, I think this is THE mechanic I dislike the most, it is very tedious and if you BLINK during the race you will get your diplomats expelled and now you cannot come back unless you wait until the other one has sphered them then you do the ultra micro intensive "inch by inch" strategy where you increase your influence and then stop before the AI recognizes you as a threat and starts putting influence in as well until you are ready to pounce and pour everything in to catch them off guard and remove them from their sphere. Genuinely tedious and unfun process. I don't say much good about Vicky 3, but the leverage system is just better even if it's still annoying (I love when the minor power is stuck at +176 leverage and I already built them up as much as I could before the economy would start to collapse. Also, the UI is trash, but that's a given for that game. I don't know who cooked this UI, but they shouldn't be allowed in a kitchen again)

Why use infantry over guards?
I think that after some point they are better on the defense,and they also are kind of cheaper so...
At some point, infantry’s defense outscales guards attack post 1900 due to techs upgrading infantry but not guards
