This has been my dream for years. I'm currently looking for land. Not quite sure where I should go. My heart wants to go up to Navajo or Apache county. The problem is I want to build a natural home. Like a cob house. Cochise offers an opt-out permit which allows you to do whatever you want. A certain zoning even allows a home per every 4 acres. I could build for my whole family. If I could find a way to do that up north, that's where I would go. 💙

The chickens will eat everything that pops up in your garden, all your seedlings. so keep them away from your planets, Yet somehow have chickens surround your garden to eat all the bugs.

You need to plant windbreaker trees for the future & capture all the water you can.

im in douglas az. ive seen at all the local nurseries that the shade cloth they use is attched to the framing w little bungee chords to help absorb some the wind shock. just what ive seen. just look at what other folks do when u go around to shop and such and you can get some good ideas just from paying attention.wishing you the best of luck

Roosters wont give you eggs and will be loud, however the roosters will give their lives trying to protect the hens. I am allergic to cats... but you need cats to get them Mice. Would be nice to see a tour of the property again, like go to each corner and show your set up, last time you did, there was nothing there and hard to see different.

ya the popular areas for homesteading now have so many people that it makes it hard to find free stuff or people start price gouging on craigslist or facebook. i just go new unless i chance into it

Seems like you may be close to where I'm buying land. I just put down a down payment on 1.32 acres in Holbrook Arizona. We just found out that the property we have been paying on in Montana is a scam. We've been here a month now we have to leave. But that's ok, we are starting over again in Holbrook, and in a month or two we will be there. I'm 50 years old and my wife is 44 this is our goal to own a property to start a little homestead. We have had many setbacks and hardships but we are going to make it work. Good luck to you! wish us good luck also I'm sure we will need it.
