    The all-new Bentley Bentayga SUV costs $250,000, which is as much as three Range Rovers. Here's why.
    Thank you to Morrie's Luxury Auto for the Bentayga!

    And im here struggling to buy a big mac.

    You do not understand the difference between price and value. This car most certainly is NOT worth $250,000. But it does COST $250,000.

    • @DarkDragon9275
      @DarkDragon9275 Před 7 lety +3

      Totally agree with this. Just bought a Genesis Sedan for $45k, and it has around 90% of these features in admittedly less.... gaudy form; while the other 10% of features are mostly just useless bragging rights I probably wouldn't have any use for anyway. Like who needs a $160k center clock for god sake, Hahaha. imo, features and performance inclusive, this SUV might be worth around 1/2 what they're asking, especially with the terrible exterior styling.

    • @betty123ism
      @betty123ism Před 7 lety +10

      Well, it's definitely not worth $250,000 for you or me, but it was worth it for the people who have bought them. (Unless the buyers were tricked or duped somehow) Value is in the eye of the beholder.

    • @DarkDragon9275
      @DarkDragon9275 Před 7 lety

      Alpha Prime lolwut. you can't get Chinese brand cars in the US and Canada. its a Hyundai product. (South Korean) and honestly its one of the best cars I've ever driven as far as ticking all the boxes goes. comfortable, powerful, reasonably fast (155 MPH Governerned, 0-60 around 6 secs give or take depending on altitude and such), and comes at a great price. sticker on mine was 54k for a loaded V6, but I got it for 45k. I've been in a few of the other cars in the segment (BMW 5, Mercedes E, Lexus GS) and this is the one I went with, so that should say a lot! :) a big decider was standard AWD that comes with the Genesis in Canada (not so in the US I believe) so I can drive this car all year round and not have to worry so much about poor road conditions in our 6 - 8 month winter. :P

    • @jetliigor
      @jetliigor Před 7 lety +7

      If there's a feature for $160,000 clock that means Bentley thought there would be a demand for it and there certainly is. Otherwise they wouldn't include it as an option. Maybe you are satisfied with Hyundai that has 90% of Bentley's features but a guy looking to buy a Bentley doesn't care about the features, he just wants to buy the brand name, the exclusivity, the prestige, the "I made it" in life showing. That's why people buy Bentley, Lamborghini, Ferrari. They're not looking for options. They're looking for exclusivity and prestige.

    • @no1DdC
      @no1DdC Před 7 lety +10

      I agree. The Volvo has class and presence, costs a fraction, but still feels incredibly luxurious inside. It's an expensive, big car, but it's not excessive. It has a turbocharged four cylinder engine that puts out more than enough power for any situation. The seats are tremendous, the interior is one of the best examples of elegant Swedish design. In any case, that ugly Bentley with its pointless, overpriced options will be stuck in London rush hour traffic just like a normal car. You might as well save a few hundred thousand dollars and get a different car that is more than good enough for that.

      @TheBoldImperator Před 7 lety +10

      Luxury brands intentionally overcharge because it produces a psychological effect for conspicuous consumption obsessed retards. Bill of sale for Rolexes isn't even close to what they cost on the market. These cars depreciate dramatically because their initial value was overinflated in the first place.
      It's called a veblen good. Overcharging means more rich idiots buy your car because they think it makes them look exclusive. If it was $100,000 less, people would consider it $100,000 worth less even when the truth of the matter is that it never cost $100,000 more to produce in the first place.
      All 'high end' crap comes with giant markups. It's how these brands make their money when they sell in such low volume. You're never getting what you pay for. It's intentional from the beginning. Rich (not to be confused with wealthy) assholes jerk off to how much money they waste. It's self-vindication.

      Even if I could afford a Bentley, I would wait a generation to get a Bentayga. Most VWs 5 years or so ago ranged between so boring you would crash into them because you didn't notice them to aesthetically challenged and awkward, with not much in between. They've got some new designers now, VW's city cars look amazing and their luxury brands are hitting their Piech-era stride again. The next generation of VW's large SUV platform is going to look as amazing as everything else they've come out with recently does.
      But I just wouldn't buy anything based on the current gen Touareg/Q7 platform. These have got to be some of the ugliest cars ever made, and instead of debuting the new large SUV design they've been working on (Jalopnik caught a gorgeous test mule IIRC, though I don't have the link) on what is supposed to be the world's best SUV, they chose to rush out the first leathered up Touareg they could slap a Bentley logo on because they wanted to get in on the luxury SUV game before Rolls-Royce beat them to it. The thing's amazing, yes, but it doesn't look amazing. Bentley essentially stuffed a Mulsanne inside and under the hood of a Q7 and called it a day because they knew Rolls-Royce was about to jump in after Maserati and Jaguar had tested the waters, and wanted to get in first at any cost to their reputation, regardless of the fact that they didn't have an actual product ready.

    First of all, this SUV looks super bland. Whatever style the Bentayga actually has, looks really dated already. For some reason, I get this really terrible Mercedes-Benz circa 2004 taste in my mouth, when I look at this Bentley. It just isn't good, man.
    I can appreciate the level of customization, but it isn't really too far above what more practical companies can do. I don't quite see the justification in that $250,000 price tag quite yet.
    Already I'm seeing where they can improve with that interior... I don't like how the touchscreen in the backseat is damn near on the floor board, and the screen is out-sized by my S7 smartphone. Yeah, I can see why they added massaging chairs because you really could throw your back out contorting it to mess with that little bit of standard quality nothing.
    Why not have BIG, high resolution, touch screen computers embedded in the back of the front seats with windows 10 for the rear passengers? How about with a camera so you can video call, and how about throwing some VR support in there too to keep the kids entertained during those long road trips? Yeah, the passenger service here is not well thought out at all, at least not for a car Bentley is asking a 1/4 of a million dollars for. The rear passenger quarters just looks so abysmally standard, it's not even funny. I mean we're talking $250,000... lets think outside of the box some. I should be able to sit in my rear passenger seat and have everything at my fingertips, not on the floorboard. Passenger service.
    600hp? Track mode settings? Are the engineers at Bentley high? I feel like the auto industry has come a long way, and in some regards much further and much faster than people could really anticipate. 600hp, 500hp, 400hp.... these numbers are RIDICULOUS for road cars period, let alone a vehicle clearly made to haul your family around in. There would be very few instances you'd actually want to romp on that accelerator for full power and risk that $250,000 trophy SUV to the uncaring likes of torque steer.
    Nobody is going to buy this car for performance. I'm sorry... but there are already so many better platforms and so many better cars out there for that. There's NOTHING wrong with a more modest 400hp. Plenty of power to tote your golf clubs to the golf course.
    But I get it... Bentley doesn't want their prized Bentayga to be surpassed by SRT-8 Cherokees or the Porsche Cheyenne Turbo S. Problem with this scenario is, most people who buy these types of cars typically can supe them up. When the SRT-8 Cherokee is already running 475 hp, it doesn't need much more tuning to get 600 out of it... and since they're a more performance oriented car, they can probably walk a Bentayga with around 550hp - which is what? Your basic exhaust and chip tune up? The Bentayga is going to be really overlooked when the SRT-8 Cherokee Trackhawk drops next year at nearly a 1/4 of the price too.
    Fuck that car. Fuck Bentley.

      I know a guy who had one for a few days and sold it to a neighbour for £15,000 more than he originally paid for it. He said the car wasn't worth anything like what they charge for it. The car looks a tad better in person believe it or not, but it's nothing special at all. And the interior, and I'll admit it's nice, but it's not what is should be for the price they are charging. He is waiting for the rolls royce SUV but in the mean time uses his range rover.

    • @wassermelonewill5399
      @wassermelonewill5399 Před 7 lety +2

      Yes and Teslas interior looks like shit :D half the price is pretty expansive for that shit tho. And for me is better to have better interior than exterior but you have to see the bentayga in person it's so much better than in videos. Nevertheless i would choose a Benz over any car. Great exterior and supreme interior and "drive". I bet sound isolation and suspension is not worser on a Benz (E/S Class) than on the Bentley. It's like riding a cloud in the S-Class with air-suspension. :)

      @jetliigor Před 7 lety +5

      Bentley owners don't care how much the Bentley costs. They're not looking for prices, they're not even looking for other cars in its class. They want Bentley. If you can afford to spend $250,000 on an SUV then odds are you're not going to care that your car is a gas guzzler. You're buying your Bentley for prestige and exclusivity. They don't care about performance either because 99% of the Bentley SUV owners will be some 60 year old men.

      700,000 euros ? - Do you live in Denmark or Malta ? - Cost as much as a Mulsanne. (About 220,000 euros).

    • @OKANGUVEN99
      @OKANGUVEN99 Před 7 lety +1

      Turkey. One of the worst countries in the world to buy cars. Tax for buying a car is is minimum %68 (some electircal cars) all the others are minimum %100. If the cars engine is over 2.0L tax is usually over %160.
      Basicly you give the manufacturer 10k and 26k to government. A 2015 GTR is 250.000 euros. Worst thing is this is not the case only in luxury or high performance cars. You can't buy your 16/18 year old son a 2-3.000 car here. The cheapest cars which are basicly an engine 4 wheels attached to a cauldren are 4.000 USD minimum.
      At least people in Denmark or Malta can afford to give that much money.
      BTW. I saw a not used 2013 Mulsanne here . Retail price was 845.000 Euroes.
      Weirdest thing is there is so many German luxury cars in Turkey that I have no fucking clue how do people buy them.
