しがない高校生です。
少し、自分のことについて書かせてください。
9ヶ月前、鬱だと診断された時生きる意味が分からなくなっていました。
笑いもせず、涙もでず、ただ機械のように過ごす毎日でした。なんとか希望を取り戻すためにいろんな応援ソングを聴きましたが、当時の私にはどれも全く響きませんでした。
そんな私の心に唯一光をいれてくれたのはこの曲でした。
君は君でいいんだよ
ただ背中を押すんじゃなくて一緒に歩いてくれてるようなぐっと押される歌詞と迫力のある歌声に圧倒されて、当時鬱になってから泣くことができなかった私が涙したのを今でもよく覚えています。
そこからは1歩踏み出して精神科に通う日々が続き、少しでも生きる楽しさや喜びを思い出すためにたくさんいろんな場所に出かけて、美味しいものもたくさん食べました。
好きなことをたくさんして好きなものとたくさん触れ合って少しづつ前を向くことができるようになっていました。
今は学校も思い切って変えて自分が学びやすい環境で自分のペースで毎日生きています。
この曲のおかげで今があります、どうかたくさんの人に国境を超えてこの感動が届きますように。

私はまだ人生のほんの少ししか生きてません、でも分かることはあります。

Im the same way, plus, I'm autistic and adhd. I've grown up alone and isolated cause no one in school wanted to be my friend. I was the 'weird' one, the 'freak'. And the only people that were my friends weren't actually my friends, they would mock me behind my back, and make fun of me. That only contributed towards my social anxiety and low self worth which I still face to this day as my 24th birthday is coming up soon. But this song and movie have always been my comfort when I needed it. It's shown me that I can make a stand, I don't have to apologize to anyone for being me, I can just be, well, me. I can be myself. And eventually, I'll find the people who WILL care about me, who WILL support me, and WILL love me for who I am. Until then I'll stand up for myself and be me.

me too, man. i've been hurt badly, i've felt stupid and worthless and ugly.
but getting out of that situation? hearing other people accepting themselves? it's really powerful.
i'm in such a better place now. i'm not stupid. i'm not ugly. i'm not worthless. i'm not some beast or disease to be shunned. my interests and hobbies aren't ridiculous and childish. my sense of humor isn't boring or terrible. i'm worthy of being cared about. i'm worth respect.

In year 2 age just 6, I was told my daughter was a no hope by her then principal. She was a year behind her peers, couldn’t read or write, couldn’t spell. In year 6, during lockdown my daughter decided to prove all her doubters wrong, she decided she wanted to try the transfer test to try and get into a grammar school. On results day - She didn’t score high enough for her 1st or 2nd choice, rather her 3rd choice became her best option. She got in, but unfortunately that school was not for her. But she never gave up on her dreams. Age 12 (this May 2023), she went back to try for round two. She did the entrance test for the 1st preference school and she absolutely smashed it! She starts September. This song I dedicate to her, the most determined child, who doesn’t know how to fail. When the sharpest words cut her down, she sent a flood to drown them out. Here’s to everyone proving their doubters wrong and never giving up on their dreams! Keep working hard and never ever give up!

It's so weird seeing a movie take a risk and make their hero characters screw up, let them know they screwed up, and then have them about-face to correct it. Movies now never want to make the heroes wrong. It's why Anne's death glares during the number is one of the best parts of the entire film.
