INTERCEPTOR 650 FROM A RC-390 | TEN REASONS WHY I DID THIS

- This is not a comparison video between these two bikes...it's a video about the reasons why I decided to sell my RC390 and move over to an Interceptor 650. I completely loved my RC390 and had loads of fun on it but it was time I moved over to a different machine because I wanted to do a mixture of city riding & touring. If I could afford to keep 2 bikes I wouldn't have sold the 390....but sadly I couldn't.

I have rc390 2016 oct model.... nd planning to upgrade to interceptor 650 soon... keep riding 👌🏻
bro.. you have a very effortless accent, along with a precise content...
makes for a good video...

Hi Vimeet... Thank you for the support and kind words 😊
Very well explained , was really helpful to me.

Excellent review ... Good content..nice voice u have . Wud like to hear more about interceptor.
Hi Vivek... Thank you for the kind words 😊
Amazing comparison ❤️
Nice technical comparison. Honest opinion make this video very interesting. ♥️👌👍🇮🇳
What a fantastic comparison man👍👍👍 superb.
Thanks for the detailed review of bike...ktm 390 is also a good machine..but in the same budget if we get the best comfort and same power with low maintinance cost...then it's best deal...all though RE bikes are not that much pocket friendly but this time RE did the great work..
Fair & excellent review 👍
nicely discribed with all details...... Well done... Good choice
Great video brother.
Useful and honest review thanks to help me a decision

Good review
Hi Idrees...Thank you for the support.
That Exhaust note in the beginning.. just wow.
If you could please tell what exhaust do use on your bike..
Thanks 🙏🏼
Hi there buddy... It's the stock exhausts actually BUT there's an aftermarket Air-Filter installed which is from MotoWings.
What it does is that after about an hour or riding when the engine heats up the bike starts sounding so damn good.
Thx bro very informative video after watching video I subscribed
Hi Vivek...thank you for the support 😊
@@TheTwinPost it's for your efforts bro I also just sold my d390 I wasn't happy with the engine knocking and heating I am also looking for some bike which one you suggest only for commuting
You're coming from a decently powerful bike... So depends what you're looking for.... One doesn't need that much power just for commuting...plus the budget ofcourse.
@@TheTwinPost yeah I can understand your saying but two things I don't like on RE twins tube tyres and weight rest I don't know thx for replying
You're absolutely right.... 650s are heavy and yes tube tyre is a pain especially if you encounter a puncture. Weight is something one can get used to and I personally will get a fix for these tube tyres soon.
Interceptor isn't an ideal commuter (at least for Indian traffic)...a more fuel efficient bike would be easier on your pocket for your everyday commute.
Hi. Could you also make a video on other bikes you considered before going ahead with the Int 650. And the pros and cons of each
Thanks for the suggestion...I can certainly look into this subject and create a video around it.
Nice video and one suggestion for not to overtake on the left especially the buses which has stopped for passenger alightment.
Hi Suresh... thankyou for the suggestion...and yes I won't do it 🙌

Dear, you did a great job to purchase interceptor. Try riding himalayan at off roads.
Himalayan is amazing on off-roads 🙌
Can you please do the comparison between interceptor and KTM 390 adv ?
From where. Can i get this air filter?? And how much it costs?
Hi Jordan... I've actually made a dedicated video for this particular air filter :

2.10 min pei galat the aap. U r nice you tuber. But thts dangerous sir
Sir sirf motowings ki filter k wajase aesa exhaust note araha hai ya exhaust v badla hai?mere pass v stock exhaust hi hai interceptor me..please suggest other benefits of moto wings performance filter as well
Hi Sajed.... Sirf air-filter badla hai and exhausts company ke stock lage hue jo aae the wahi hain. MW Air Filter lagvane se thodi mileage badi hai and higher rpm par bike thodi or smooth hogai hai.

Sir can we change this RE's Tyre to tubeless Tyre?
Hi Vijay... I have converted my RE's spoke rims to tubeless and I'm running these tyres without tubes now. I made a video about it as well: czcams.com/video/TK-Qvu69XPo/video.html
@@TheTwinPost ok sir
Any milage drops or problems after motowings air filter??
No mileage drop whatsoever....it has been almost a year now and I haven't faced any issues with it.
Nyc video brother
Hi Kaustubh.... Thankyou for the support 😊
Looking forward to get interceptor cause am tired of vibrations in my UG Dominar 400 but am scared how it will handle can you tell me difference you felt going from USD to telescopic fork
Hi Deeeang... No need to be scared as the INT feels Rick solid on the highway and within city to its not such a lazy handler.... The centre of gravity feels lower down due the engine block and flicking it in traffic won't require alot of effort.... You just have to get used to the nature of the bike.
RC390 was really light but had an agressive riding posture whereas this bike has an upright stance.... Didn't feel I'm missing USD forks because quite honestly this bike isn't for making fast turns.
@@TheTwinPost hows the suspension in bad roads? Previous i had pulsar AS200 and it was horrible from that to USD on dominar feels massive upgrade.thats one of also th reasons of scaring to return on telescope fork
It is what you'd expect it to be....pretty stable and not it's not too stiff... I've done Ladakh, Himachal, Uttarakhand on it ....RC390 had a really stiff suspension so for me it was a pleasant change. Plus a fork seal damage on a USD is far worse than one in a conventional telescopic fork.
Pull up to no doubt best hai is range mein
Bhai meri bike 15-16 ki average dikha Rahi hai I purchased newly interceptor what should I do
This is just way too less.... Within city mujhe 22 milti hai regular traffic me. You should contact the RE service center for answers
Hey brother
Are u using stock exhaust in your bike? U have only changed the Air filter?
Hi Devansh.... Yes that's the stock exhaust and the only thing I've changed is the air filter from MotoWings.
@@TheTwinPost brothers is there any improvement in the performance? Is there any improvement in sound after changing the air filter?
Bike sounds a bit raspier in the higher revs
Minor increase in Mileage as well.
Brother i like ur vlog but plz follow traffic rules specifically in ur vedios plz its a request 🙏
Bro why did you not consider 390Adv? You wanted an engine upgrade or just comfort and long distance touring? Cos i guess 390Adv can easily do long distance touring. I am asking this because I am confused between 390Adv and interceptor. I know you can do off roading and tough terrains (for eg:- ladakh terrains) with Interceptor but not with that ease with which you can do on 390Adv.
Hi there Amit... I booked this bike in March 2019 last year and got the bike deliverer in June 2019. 390adv was not available back then.
But even with the 390ADV I would've still gone for the Interceptor and below are few reasons for that.
1. I can only afford to keep one bike (due to parking issues) so I wanted a bike that can do it all... And even manage my occasional small grocery stops.
2. The engine: 80% of the reason for my purchase is the engine. It is calm and composed at slow speeds, doesn't heat up alot and when you want to pull hard its more than happy to do it. I've owned a RC390 before and that engine just doesn't like to move at slow speeds... It just loves to be thrashed all the time.
3. Engine again: The smoothness of this engine is something that you need to ride to understand.... At 100-120 it is butter smooth and churns out 29-30kmpl.
When I go for long tours... Offroad section accounts for less than 5% of the total distance which I can manage with this bike... becuase the rest 95% of Highways is a bliss on this bike. (With mods that I've made to suit the Highways)
Broo is your bike bs6 and how much mileage can I get in continental 650 bs6
Hi Nabadeep... My bike is BS-4.
2 of my friends own BS-6 variants as well and all 3 of us get the same mileage.
Around 23 in city traffic
26-27 on highway doing 100-110 kmph
Once I did 70 to 80 kmph for 250 kilometres (Delhi to Kotdwar) and got 33.5 kmpl.
But you won't be doing 70-80 with this bike generally.
@@TheTwinPost thanks bro ❤️
Bro how's the air seat holding up?
It's still in good condition.... I don't use it for myself anymore since I have got the seat customised now.
I plan on using it for my pillion in the future (if needed)
Don't know whether this is relevant or not, but I'm 100th commenter 😅😅😅
Hi Shantanu....you took time out to post this...so it is indeed relevant 👍😁
Interceptor is a good comfort bike for long drives. You can drive 7 to 800 km in a day comfortably.🏍🏍
Indeed.... On our Leh trip we did 730 kms on day 1.
Bro what are your views on adventure 390
Hi Christon.... My views on 390 are quite positive. It is a very capable tourer which can handle decent level of off-roads.
The only reason I wouldn't go for it 'personally' is becuase I wanted a bike which can do it all....even small grocery stops.
Slow speed ridability of the 390 engine is not that great...it feels uncomfortable within city traffic...heats up alot... If it's just the highways and medium offroad trails you're wanting to conquer then the 390 is a really good option.
Boss interseptor vs adv390 karo please🙏🙏🙏
Hi there! I'm currently riding a 2017 390 Duke as a daily commuter. I do find it quite jarring and tiresome since I have to shift through the gears a lot to find the optimal smoothness and speed. As I live in Kolkata, the roads are quite crowded. My height is 5'8" and I seem to manage the Duke quite well. I'm planning to shift to an Interceptor. Are there any things I should be aware of before I do so? How's the heating in city traffic? Also, what's the average mileage you get in bumper to bumper traffic? I get an average of 19-20kmpl from my Duke and the service intervals are way too less. Please help!
Hi Samiran... Since you already ride a D390 hence I will try to point out certain things comparatively that you should know when shifting to an Interceptor for you daily commutes
Height: 5'8 is more than enough height for Interceptor.... You might not be able to completely flat foot but you'll easily be able to place the ball of your feet on both sides.
Heating: You will feel the engine heat in bumper to bumper traffic but it's nowhere close to what it's like on the 390 (I've done this on my previous RC390 for two years so I know).
Fuel economy: In an extreme bumper to bumper traffic don't expect anything more than 21-22 kmpl....the worst I've got is 20.
Service Interval: Now this is something that's really impressive with the Interceptor....the oil change happens in every 10k kilometres or 1 yr. And there's a regular checkup at every 5k kilometres where they don't change the oil.... And the proper 10k kms service costs around 2,700 to 3,200/- rupees which is quite affordable considering its once a year and this is a 650cc bike.
Weight: You will feel it's 202kg weight while taking it out of the parking lot...it takes a little effort. While on the move it feels planted...in bumper to bumper traffic initially you will feel the heft of it plus the dual exhaust poking on either sides is also something which take getting used to. I've done 14k kms on this bike and now I'm easily able to handle it in tight spots....but obviously it's nowhere near as nimble as the Duke.
Gear shifts: This is where the low end torque does the trick....you require minimal gear shifts while in slow speed traffic as it happily chugs along in 2nd or 3rd with a little twist of the wrist required to get that surge of torque whenever required.
While moving the bike forward or back using your feet in the parking lot....your shins might hit the footpeg...but they fold invards so this is also something you'll get used to... I'm 5'11 so I am able to keep my feet further away to avoid this.
Interceptor doesn't require much effort to ride sanely or insanely but needs a little muscle power (intially) for manoeuvrability in bumper to bumper traffic.
Cannot miss the sound - The exhaust note is also something which adds to the riding pleasure....this parallel twin sounds bloody amazing.
If you have any specific questions....feel free to ask...more than happy to help.
@@TheTwinPost Man, thank you so much! I really didn't expect you to reply this fast! This cleared a lot of my doubts! 😀
@@TheTwinPost ride safe, stay safe! :)
You too buddy 👍
@@TheTwinPost Do you have social media where I can add you on?
Best of both worlds; I own a Duke 390. Kindly share your views if you could compare both of these
Comparing Duke with the Interceptor... Well there are few things the Duke does really well and some the INT.
It's majorly a choice of what you prefer ... A bike with a solid mid and high rev range or one with an amazing low end and good mid rev range power.
390 doesn't really like to go slow...it loves to go fast and is hell lot of fun while at it.
Interceptor loves to chug along at slow speeds in higher gears and is fun at Triple digit speeds too....but at high speeds it's definitely not as fun as the Duke.
I personally wanted an easy going bike and fell in love with the smooth twin after taking a test ride.
@@TheTwinPost true. At low speeds, duke is lumpy and an uneven throttle. Its only after revs cross 3.5 or 4 k that the bike feels smooth n then keeps pulling. And also the heat! Now i am used to it, but on the first ride from showroom to home...boy was i scared!
Keep sharing, i like ur content n voice overs..good job
Valare Nanni 🙏
First overtake vehicles from right lane
In some cases I'll have to overtake from the left.
@@TheTwinPost Ok but don't do that for buses. Ride safe
That's why I upgraded from Dominar to Interceptor 650 worth every penny
Awesome 👍
What is the advantage of interceptor over dominor?
Dominor is also a tourer na?
@@augustinemichael7697 Dominar is in itself a very capable tourer. And honestly speaking in stock condition it's more suitable for touring. With Interceptor you need to customize things like the stock seat to make it work for touring.
One major advantage of Interceptor over Dominar is the low end torque...you don't have to rev much to extract power hence on the Highways the bike does triple digit speeds continuously at lower rpm along with buttery smooth refinement. A single cylinder can not match the smoothness of a twin.
Since the torque is there at lower revs...on the highway you don't have to shift down to overtake those trucks etc.
@@TheTwinPost ohh okay. have you ever faced any issue with the FI when you stick the magnetic tank bags?
This is one interesting thing that I too heard from another youtuber *Strell* ....so I did try it on my bike but never faced any such issue. My motorcycle performed in a normal way with the magnetic tank bag and the Fuel Injection system never malfunctioned.
Even Bulu Biker tried it and he did not face any issues.
You have overtaken from the left side in some instance, and, missed hitting a man, follow rules, and, learn some riding etiquette.
I will have to overtake from the left in many cases sir.... That's the kind of traffic we face where nobody is following lane driving.
And trust me I wasn't gonna hit that guy....I could've edited that part out from the video but I didn't.
@@TheTwinPost doesn't matter how the road traffic is... u never overtake from the left of the bus which is stopping for passengers.
So why not a Dominar400 instead of Interceptor coz 650 has many cons???
Was done with the single cylinder 373cc engine...Dominar is indeed a capable machine but I just wasn't looking towards that engine. Dominar also has its own share of cons just like any other bike does - it's just that I was willing to go for the cons that the Interceptor would throw towards me just for that twin cylinder engine which I absolutely love
Tour on RC is always a bad idea. Actually any sporty bike is a super bad idea. I had over night fever, back ache riding it after just 1 day trip .
True....I never faced back pain but I couldn't vlog or make videos on it since mounting a camera on my helmet on the RC caused alot of neck pain.
Bro not to hurt you ... One thing I would mention that please is ride properly.
In the video you were just about to crash with the passerby who just deboarded the bus. I hope it was your mistake that you came in the bus lane overtaking two of the bus. And on top of it you were quite riding fast in the city limits.
Hi Debabrata.... It does look alot narrower and faster than it actually was...I had slowed down and pulled in the brakes anticipating someone would de-board. I prefer overtaking from the right it was just that there were like 3 buses in a row that stopped together.
Is this bike good for beginners, i have driven only 200cc bikes, i drive very slow around 60-70 even on highways coz i like slow cruising...m 5' 11'', 65kg..
Can beginners like me handel this?
PS: I am not scared of speeds i just like slow cruising max 80kmph
Hi Ayush.... One of my friends has switched to Interceptor from a NS200 and he never felt overwhelmed with the power of INT-650... It's pretty gradual and predictable.
You can easily cruise at 80-100 all day long and whenever the need arises (overtaking on the highway) you'll have an abundance of torque to make that manoeuvre very easily.
If you like to cruise at 80-100 then on the 6th gear you'll easily get 30+ on the highway...coz at 95-115 I get around 27-28 kmpl on the highway.
This bike let's you ride slow easily because of that low end torque if that's what you like.
Bhai.. is it ok to upgrade from 160cc bike to intercepter... ?
Hi Tousif.... Interceptor's power delivery is really linear and it won't scare someone who's upgrading from a 150cc. You would really enjoy the torque delivery and ease of riding.
@@TheTwinPost thanks a lot... I really appreciate your concern....i wil be waiting for your next videos eagerly.. keep posting...god bless you..❤️
Just go for it. Good bike relax and happy face. It remind me of my previous cb250 nighthawk. Crusing all the way smooth and breezing
Nice content without any drama! If possible, shoot with better camera, Show yourself which will show your confidence, no matter whether you give yourself 1 mark or 10 on 10 on the scale of handsome or attractive personality. Without doubt, you would require basic presentation skills, and then you would only be limited by your imagination..Goodluck.
Hi there.... thankyou for the valuable suggestions. I have indeed moved to a better quality camera now (GoPro).
Hoping to bring better quality content moving forward...thanks 👍
120 not rock solid feel on RC390???? definitely your bike had some problem. 130 on my bike is just a piece of cake on highway. it loosens ground a bit after 145/150. But I agree related to comfort. RE650 is way better than RC.
Hi there Pinaki....I felt even even 160 was a piece of cake on the RC390.... What I'm trying to say is due to lack of weight cross winds shake the bike a little...which doesn't happen with the Int650 becuase it's a Hathi based on its weight (220kgs fully fuelled).
And I never faced any issues with my RC390....it was a bomb ...and the only reason I didn't keep it was becuase I just couldn't afford to keep 2 bikes.
sail bol dia tuu
Really!!!?? 3 months to get interceptor?
Yup.... And it was more at the company owned showroom at Saket (New Delhi)... But now it's not so much... Alot faster now.
@@TheTwinPost i have booked my interceptor on march 26 and they have given me waiting period of 3 months i wonder are they really going to make me wait 3 months?
It really comes down to the dealership to get you your bike as soon as they can... For example my friend booked his Baker express from a West Delhi dealership and got his bike in 7 days...at the same time the Saket dealership quoted a waiting period of about 2 months.
So the thing is you can contact all the available dealerships in an around your place and ask who can get the bike earlier.
It worked for my friend.
