- Watch as Chicago Blackhawks forward Patrick Kane appears to score a ridiculous slap shot buzzer beater in OT against the Vegas Golden Knights, although after review it was determined the clock had expired before the puck crossed the goal line.

Absolutely brutal this didn’t end up counting. That would’ve been an all timer goal right there, lousy season for the Hawks be damned. Holy hell what a shot
I just heard about this now so went to look. Not a Hawks or a Knights fan but this goal should've counted.
@@Shawn-st2lx Time expired, so no, it shouldn't have.
I love hockey, but I hate that in hockey the play ends the second the clock hits zero, as opposed to when the shot was released. In basketball or football, this absolutely would’ve counted.
@@Shawn-st2lx why? They show the freeze frame the moment the green light came on and the puck wasn't even past the goalie yet 🤷 it's unfortunate as it would've been awesome but oh well
@@anthonyferrari711but this isnt basketball or football lol this is hockey
That's a huge dang-it. What a legendary play by a legend.
it's not a dang it, it's a hockey play and steve dangle doesn't matter to it. stop fanboying idiots.
@@obscurereference6298 🤣🤡
this is one of the coolest plays i have ever seen. it is so cool that them disallowing it hardly even impacts the awesomeness of it. in fact it kind of adds to the mystique of the play, esp since on the onscreen clock the shot hits perfectly as time expires. this will be or should be in all the Pat Kane career highlights right alongside all the big playoff walk off goals. just amazing.
I swear to God, Wes McCauley's dramatic pause announcing the decision had the arena so quiet you could probably hear the lights humming.
NHL has become so lame. This is Gary Bettman's version of "drama and suspense". Total buzzkill.
@@AW66888 This is something literally only Wes McCauley has done for years because he gets a kick out of it, not because the NHL tells him to.
@@marknicholasdavis ok, thanks for the info I didn't know that
@@marknicholasdavis it takes attention away from the fact he’s an awful ref
Are there people who analyze the refs and see how accurate they are?
Rules are rules. I just love that he's all smiles when the camera goes on him after it being announced no-goal. This ought to still go in his all time highlights, no doubt.
Love the Vegas fan clapping for Patrick Kane at 0:25 even though it got called back. Appreciation for greatness and the sport of hockey is more important than just your favorite team winning a game
Yep. Best way to enjoy hockey is to be a hockey fan first, and a fan of your team(s) second.
Nah
The Vegas player don’t seem mad at posting either
No.... that's just Vegas not having a true fan base. Why do you think the NHL made sure they won a Cup so fast into their existence. They aren't actually a good team. They just have the refs backing them.
that's the most NHL 94 goal I've ever seen. Kane = Roenick
Well said
94? Heck, that's Bobby Hull60s! Classic, beautiful and effective.
As a Golden Knights fan I wish it would have counted. it was one of the best slap shots of the year and the timing was incredible. I was not happy when it happened but respected how amazing it was after I watched it again. Great unstoppable shot by Kane.
nasty snipe
Kane making a case for why he is only 34 on paper...
Patty is just turning up right now! You love to see it
after bitching and complaining for the entire season, he's trying to make himself worth something to another team.
Would’ve loved to see the goal count, that was a beautiful play by Kane.
Was at this game tonight. Sure the Hawks ended up winning...but my God. That call was absolutely brutal
he got it but they can't go against the green light 🤷🏼♂ it is what it is
Brutal?
As in, unfortunate?
I wonder what type of high framerate cameras they have going for the dying seconds
This is perfect symbolism for Kane. His time is up in Chicago. No time left.
Damn that hit hard 😟
Damn.
Damn.
That was a fantastic moment, I watched it live and waited for the review. After they determined the clock had expired, I felt that maybe we should have a rule change in the NHL to allow goals like this. If a puck is still in the air when the clock expires, but goes directly into the net with no deflection--- then it should count. It would add an extremely dramatic ending to tied games, making players fight even harder to get that last shot because it's so rare to see.
i think they should keep it how it is, I find it more dramatic finding out if it beat the clock or not.
That would be terrible. Just bc it puts buzzer beater goals into the discretion of refs. As is the rule makes sense and is fair to everyone
@@JadenJDH so you like waiting upwards of 5 mins and not having the hype that would come from a buzzer beater?
@@JadenJDH L’est take of all time
I screen recorded it at the lowest speed CZcams allowed. It actually crossed the line at :00.1 FOR SURE or possibly :00.2
They couldn’t get the replay with the clock superimposed on it? What was the point of this clip?
Exactly wtf
Damn that shot was dirt nasty, it’s a shame it didn’t count.
Brutal
he almost scored the same way in the shootout as well, good blocker save tho
The puck was in with .01 seconds left lmao , it was good
And the NHL wonders why viewership is decreasing... bad calls make it impossible for newer viewers to understand the rules of the game. If the so-called TV clock is wrong, then prove it. Show the game clock. Can't? Won't? Okay, GOOD GOAL!
NHL needs to incorporate the buzzer beater
2:07 It, uh, it would be cool if we could see the timer here. That... that would be nice. I guess I'll take your word for it
We love you Patrick Kane 😆🇨🇦🇺🇸
They should do NBA rules where if you’ve shot the puck and it’s in the air after the buzzer it still counts. No rebounds or deflections.
Not even in air, if it’s a ground shot or air, it’s still technically the “shot” and if you get it off of your stick before time expires then it counts.
I saw this live on TV I was so hyped
So the TV Clock is wrong?
Apparently tv clock was slightly off from official game clock.
The TV clock is not the official clock.
Where is the overhead shot with the clock. Remember the correct time is at the scorer's table and at the league video review centre in Toronto (inside Scotiabank Arena) !
Wow!!!
Also almost "no time remaining" for Kane to be traded to a viable team that could use him.
lol if he goes to vegas
Kane the Anti-Tank hockey weapon
No clock overlay from the overhead shot? I call shenanigans. Puck was clearly in the net with .1 left from the broadcast angle.
I'm not sure how the rules work in hockey, but if you freeze the video at 1:07, you can clearly see it's in the net with .1 second remaining. Does it need to be in for a full second before time expires to count? Seems odd to me they'd take this away when it was called a goal in real time.
That's NBC's clock and it isn't perfectly synced up with the NHL's timing. Around 2:05 they explain that the green light (end of period) light came on before the puck had even made it past the goalie.
Love how something clearly measurable has debates.
Amazing 🥰 best goal that never happened indeed
Why it was called back? He scored accurately when 0.1 second was remaining. The puck already crossed the bar
Green light
@@user-ux3hu6ij6z sure 1:08
The clock on the broadcast must have been wrong, cuz the puck was in the back of the next with .01 left.
Or was the official clock fast.
Don't know what everyone else sees. The puck was in the back of the net with 0.1 seconds left. Goal
Apparently the TV clock was slightly off from the game clock. Shame.
The TV scoreboard time should never be taken as official. Now why Comcast didn't have access to the overhead replay with the official time on it, I don't know.
@@jry0511 But you can literally see the green light behind the glass go on as the puck was in the net.
@@jry0511 At 1:04 put your playback speed to 0.25x and watch the green light. This was forsure a goal.
@@greysonG10 Wrong. Watch again. the puck is clearly still on its way to the net when the ight goes off.
Looked in to me at 0.01. What's right? the clock or the green light?
Green light is what's hooked into the official arena clock... the NHL has overhead video that shows that clock as well (and usually TV has that to, not sure why they don't here). From the point the green light goes on, 4 frames go by before the puck is by the crossbar. Pretty obvious no goal when you slow the video down.
They won anyway but god does this league love Vegas.
It would make you even mad that the Knights only play 7 Back to back games this season. The NHL has always loved the Knights.
You sound so dumb lmao oh wait you're dumb 🤡🤡😂🤣
I still remember that 2021 playoffs when they played Avs and habs . Refs were soooooo bad period.

crazy to say that this was his last goal as a hawk
He literally scored 2 the next day vs. Dallas.
no but it was his last moment of actual hockey at home as a Blackhawk. (there was a shootout after they disallowed it where he jokingly did another slapshot right into the goalie, but the shootout isn't hockey)
I watched this at the time it happened and on one of the replays the “official” clock was overlaid and it showed that time had just expired before the puck crossed the line. It sucked but was still one of the most dramatic finishes I have ever seen in any sport.
That sums up the Blackhawks season...
As long as it doesn't wind up also being a summary of the draft lottery for them, I can live with it.
Jesus man how tf do you go nearly bar down on a slapper breakaway in ot from 35 feet out
after frame by framing the green light angle, i don't see how they overturned this. if they have a millisecond accurate game clock synced w the overhead cam, fine. if they overturned based on that green light, not fine. as best the video can show, he at least tied the light.
Early green light. The view with the clock showed the puck in the net with .1 seconds left... bot the green light already on.
Should be like the NBA. If time expires but the shots already released it should count…ok maybe it shouldn’t I just wanted that for Kaner…
I said the same thing dude! If it was Kanes last game in Chicago arena that would have been a hell of a way to go out.
Especially if the puck is in the air!
When I was younger, I once had a ref call a goal on us like that. Time expired for like 2 full seconds and he still called it a goal lmao.
Jeez...can u get the official clock up the on the overhead view? Amateur hour
Wow, should have just given it to Patrick kane. Awesome goal, highlight reel!!! 😊😊😊
He beats the time. Stayed 00.1 s The time is not expired. The problem is that the light of buzzer become green before that the puck across the goal line. The buzzer and the clock should be end at the same time.
Is this foreshadowing kane trade deadline?
Wheres the clock on the bird’s eye view angle?? Kind of sus

Wow!!! Unbelievable!!
And they said he’s washed 😂
Give it to the man!
The Patrick hatrick Kane rule I see it coming
That’s the hockey’s gods sign for him to be traded
Yeah, maybe to Vegas to get goals like this allowed xD
Should be that if the shot is on the way it counts, puck went in with less than 1/100th of a second expired, takes longer to blink. Leave it to Kane to do the unthinkable.
That would’ve been so disgusting if it counted :(
It should have
Wow!😱🤯
Miss ya
People forget his nickname is Showtime
🔥🔥🔥🔥🐐
I've slowed this down to 0.25 speed and the puck was in at 0.01 seconds. How did this not count?
The score clock you usually see on TV broadcasts is actually not synced to the in-arena jumbotron, despite what people believe. It is instead a graphic that someone has to manually control. At the minimum, the score clock is a few tenths of a second off. Hence why the green light turned on when it said 0.1.
@@BTG077 That makes sense now. I looked at the green light and it seemed to be a fraction of a second ahead of the TV clock.
Unfortunately the puck did not hit the ground in the net before time expired, but they won the shootout anyway.
That would’ve been contender for goal of the year. Shame
That was a stevie Y bomb

This guy is doing everything he can to derail CHIs Tank and get outta town
He’s gonna force them to trade him or scratch him 😂

Good thing the blackhawks still won after that
FFS people and their complaining about it should be like basketball. Then the reviews would be all about when the puck leaves the damn stick. That's a little harder to judge than BB, and it basically boils down to the same.
It clearly shows the puck in the net with time on the clock.
That was 💯 a good goal! I’m not sure what the refs were watching.
If you look at 1:08, the puck is in with 0.1 remaining.
Yep it was in the back of the net. Bad call

What a sick goal that should have counted. Game over
