- in this video I raced my 8000w ebike against a Honda crf450r dirtbike, hope you enjoy!! the kit I customized is a fardriver nd72850 controller, qs273 8000w v3 3.5t hub motor, 26x4.0 fat tire bike, 54.7ah battery I built myself.
That rabbit holy crap 😬 hope your leg is okay bro but gosh damn 86mph!! I'm gonna say you got the fastest DIY I've ever seen. 🔥 video as always 💯
Thank you so much 💯 I didn't even know I was going that fast till I look at the display and that rabbit came from nowhere lol

Pretty impressive Tommy 'cos the Honda crf450 is booked at 0-60mph 4secs, 0-100kph 4.2 (?)...
So, damn that e-bike of yours is one Helluva RoCkEt !!!!
And it's got me wondering when did Honda go from the CR500 to Cr450?
When I was a young gun the 'crossers' were 80cc, 125, 250 and 500..
Seems weird does 450..
I remember being super young and my mate (who's parent's were pretty loaded) dad bought him a Yamaha YZ80 and going from riding my Honda Mt5(50cc) to having a go on my mates bike I was shaking when I got off of it!
We've sure come a long way since then with 'home-build' electric bikes beating the top end moto-x bikes.
E-bike Guy you sure know how to build 'em!
Lol thank you I really just want to know if the ebike can keep up with a 450cc dirtbike lol 😆

Lol it's the gopro hero9
@E-bikeguy it's great. But what mount is it attached with? Preciate the response as always. Ebikeguy = 1 Rabbit ops = 0
Great edit work also. Whole thing getting tightened up for real.

woh freakin' awesome 86mph. well done. i see your colossal specs in the description but what BMS board do you use?
Thank you bro 💯 I didn't use a bms
Once the Fardriver is tuned to your motor, on your ebike, with you riding, it’s going to be faster. It’s like “turn right to go left”, counter-intuitive that reducing power will make it faster.
Your original settings allow way too much phase current for full power from a stop, but all motors will reduce phase current as rpm increases due to back emf, so a roll start allows you to MANUALLY do what the controller can do AUTOMATICALLY.
To get the quickest time for any bike+rider+track conditions, it’s very simple. You need the maximum torque to the rear wheel that you have traction for. Since the Fardriver doesn’t have electronic traction control, you have to do it with the throttle. Too Much throttle you spin the rear tire and go slower, too little power you go slower.
So it is the ability of the throttle to control power very precisely, right at the edge of the limit of traction, as well as the ramp speed and hard start settings of the controller.
All controllers have some sort of PID speed control (not to be confused with the current loop PID settings in the controller). The proportional component is how many degrees you twist the throttle to how many phase amps you send to the motor and/or the RPM of the motor. So its vital that everything is set within useable range.
When you shift from mode 3 to mode 2 (50% power/75%speed) and mode 1 (25% power and 50% speed), this proportional release is instantly understood (but only if mode settings are correct lol). Because now each tiny twist of the throttle is now asking for less change in output power and speed, so you have more control.
When the power is set too high for useable conditions, either phase amps or rpm, now each fraction of a degree twist on the throttle gives a bigger change in output, which means the control is coarse, not fine.
If the phase current and rpm for mode 3 are set within useable limits, then each fraction of a degree of throttle twist causes less instantaneous change in output, yet you still have access to 100% of useful output.
Right now I estimate you have 200% proportional control, meaning only 50% twist off the line is already spinning the rear tire. This should be 100%-105%, so that if you twist the throttle to 90%, the rear tire won’t spin but 100% it will. Now the finest throttle your hand can give is twice as fine, twice as controllable.
If you set phase current low, and increase it until you lose traction when you quickly turn the throttle to 100%(for example, 300 phase amps), but then for some reason see once rolling you can handle more phase amps, you can add more to the limit (as long as phase amps are not limited by back emf, at which point increasing the phase amps limit does nothing except ruin the proportional control.
But if you can increase phase amps from 300 to 330a and get enough torque to make the rear tire try to lose traction, you can add that and then in the ratio in speed table 0 rpm, you can pull down to 90%, so it will start with 300a but give 330a once you get rolling.
The key thing to remember is that bolting a Holley 850 on your lawnmower will not give it more power, it will not cut the grass faster. Lol
I remember before back in the late 70s my dad had a bone stock 72 3/4 ton pickup with a 350 and Quadrajet. It was slower than ‘Mater from Cars. But a friend showed me that if I increased the spring tension on the secondaries, holding them closed longer, the motor actually gets better performance. Between that and advancing the timing, this was the second fastest pickup in high school (yeah, we had before school drag races. Lol).
Setting everything to max does not make it faster, it just makes it less controllable. The reason most Fardriver owners set everything to max is they have a weak controller and a heavy motorcycle. They put a lawnmower carburetor on a 350 chevy. Lol
Damn, you sure know a lot about e-bikes and electrics and stuff, super impressive knowledge man.
@mickyb.8014 thank you as always my friend 💯
Maby you know how to solve my problem too
My far driver evry time i open up the trotle it says undervolt error i wait 2 seconds not longer or shorter. Open up again and it goes like normal
It migt be the bms in the batery or something but i dont know
My previous unbranded Chinese controller did it as well
@@Thefreakyfreek , very strange because if the BMS tripped on under-voltage or over-current, while it will reset right away, it should always repeat the protection. It would not normally allow you to keep going.
It would help if you can catch this on a screen recording of the far driver dashboard and smart bms app (if you have a smart BMS), then it will be easy to see if its too much current or a weak brick in the battery sagging to LVP, closing the discharge port, which in turn create LVP in the controller.
If you don’t have smart BMS, all we can do is watch voltage sag at the controller to see if it drops abnormally. But we won’t know if its a loose connection from fhe battery to the controller or the battery.
But since both old and new controller is doing it, it’s not directly a problem with the controller, but often the problem is the controller is upgraded and the battery is not. The battery is normally sized for the original controller. If you add a significantly more portable controller the battery will fall on its face.
What is the rating of your battery and what line amps are you using in the fardriver?
Im at rhe stage where i added 10x more powerful motor, 10x more power controller, but my battery is only 2x more powerful with 25 CDA and 40a peak. So my 72360 line amps is set at 40a until my new battery is made.
You can try fully charging your battery and verify its top balanced. Then set your line amps and boost line amps down 1/4 of what you have now. Try full throttle and record the fardriver dashboard, checking for voltage sag. For a 72v battery, If it sags to 72v, thats really max for that battery. If it only sags from 84v down to 76v, you can increase amps by 10a. Just keep testing until full throttle causes it to sag to nominal voltage.
If the case is battery too weak for the controller, you can just set DC amps low enough to protect it until you build a new battery designed for the power of your controller.
In some cases the battery is stronger than the BMS, which is done to ensure the battery last longer. In some cases you can replace the BMS with a smart BMS with higher current rating. It’s also possible to bypass the BMS but this is not a solution, only for troubleshooting. Some batteries are constructed so poorly that the BMS is the only thing keeping the firetrucks from showing up. Lol
@@imho7250 im using premade second hand 60v 42ah baterys as far as i know for some supersoco mopets
Thay are fairly cheap and still work very well 120 euros max
I'm going to measure my brother's suoersoco to see if there is sone extra signal on one of the pins of the connector I'm not using
If i can avoid it to open up the battery at all i would because mine needs to pass inspection because its a new vericle with a licence plate
It migt need some 5v activation to get full chooche from the getgo
And only provides power for a alarm system
Im using 40line current but it dous not matter how much i was using i have tried 5 and a very slow ramp
Or starting with very little trotle 1 procent up to 66rpm or so
Im using a standart 1.9kw super soco rear wheel 17 inch wich looks good
Im gonne put in a analog voltage and aprage dail in the dashboard anyway but im hoping its just an anable pin
Its just so hard to find information out tere regarding the battery and protocol used but it might have full can bus connectivity or something
And if it has it might be handy

Awesome 😎 how much ah is your battery ? And you use flux weakening for 84 mph ?
It's a 54 ah battery and no flux enabled lol
I had a similar issue where my motor temp was reaching as high as 130c using CACU sensor but little did I know, my motor doesn't have a temp sensor (phase wire sensor connector to controller has no white wire from motor, 5 pin instead of 6) thus temp sensor selection was irrelevant. My motor is warm to touch too, on the outside..but the stator could be way hotter. I'm a heavier dude too. Perhaps consider throwing some statorade/ferrofluid and some heatsinks on your QS273? Something I am considering for my QS205.
Hey bro does it feel better with those big tires at high speeds?
It's definitely more stable I can say that
Wow his E bike is sick awesome😍😍😍😍😍😍

90 miles I can go on a single charge
@@E-bikeguy pero de cuanto es tu batería? De da de rango 90 millas? Me imagino que tu bateria es de 72v 50ah aproximadamente?
@8:29 Since your motor doesn’t have a temperature sensor, and in theory any temperature sensor you select in the Fardriver app would not change (it would typically be out of bounds high or low as soon as you turn the controller on), so I’m really curious what that #4 CACU in temperature sensor settings really is.
If it’s some that estimates motor temperature, which can be calibrated to roughly match the motor somewhere in settings, that would be great news. Because many people don’t have any temperature sensors in the motor.
While nothing will ever replace a real temperature sensor nesting inside the windings where they will get hottest, fastest, an algorithm that estimates heat in and heat out based on phase wire resistance, controller power output, and some coefficients in settings related to the thermal mass and hest dissipation of the motor would be great.
Soon we will get the answer to this, because I have a genuine Fardriver and a motor without a temperature sensor, so ill play with it and ask Siaecosys what that #CACU is, if its an algorithms for estimating temperature or just a rogue temperature sensor setting that drifts aimlessly when not connected to a sensor. Lol
Lol yea I opened the app when it throttle down on me the motor temp was way high but the motor was warn to the touch so man that was strange
@@E-bikeguy , if it is a temperature estimator, it should have settings. Unfortunately Fardriver semi-locks some settings that everyone else allows the user to adjust.
The thing with motor temperature on your bike, what you feel on the side cover is only a fraction of the real windings because it’s not in contact with it. And the stator has a lot of thermal mass so it will absolutely the heat.
If we can find someone who has a temperature sensor and a fardriver firmware that supports it, and also has CACU as a choice, they can do a test to compare how close it matches the real temperature. Or if it does as all.
It’s possible it’s hidden in some setting like the one to display current on the DKD display. Theres a ton of settings i still have no idea exactly what they do. Lol
I was thinking about getting that display and controller kit does it have paddle assist
The fardriver controller don't have peddle assistance because there aimed towards motorcycle controllers
