Boy, those stock plane crash effects are certainly out of place in the WWI context. A wood and canvas kite hitting the dirt and detonating like a 250kg bomb!
My recently released (v1.1, available at SAS1946, and soon to be updated) effects pack at least presents a rather less explosive end for plane crashes. Instead of a veritable bomb blast (with ground shock wave, no less), I've created something more resembling a fuel fireball. And for water crashes, where the stock game adds the same huge water geyser for a 250kg bomb detonation, I keep to a less 'spectacular' water splash of more reasonable proportions. And there are a gazillion other tweaks that will make a world of difference.
Look out for the next release, coming hopefully in within a week. I might call it v1.2...

Is the update out?
If anything, I would expect a wood and canvas structure to be much more susceptible to fire than metal. Material should not be of concern is what I mean but rather fuel quantity and tanks and fuel related properties in general, as well as intensity of the collision.

How do you have this hud below on the left? I have only 3 blue or red writes with speed, altitude etc not that.
You have to enable palvisualmod9 in JSGME, each module have a palvisualmod9, ex: DOF palvisualmod9, WAW palvisualmod9.
@@Geoweb35 I enabled it and also have speed bar on, but with pal visual mod I have no hud, donno why.
After you enable palvisualmod9 go to game button configuration and search for Game Menu and add a new key, Game Menu is avaible in button configuration after you install palvisualmod9 in JSGME, then start the mission and press your key for Game Menu, after you press that key a top bar appear, choose Options and select a HUD Mode

Wish I could download BAT. I'm not computer savvy at all though.
Downloading's not too bad, it's just a matter of getting the right torrent file (see here- www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=53512.0 - for details) and from what I hear the install is WAAAAY easier than CUP which was a bit of a pain in the backside frankly. Levels of new content are simply phenomenal!
{Although bear in mind it may take a while if your broadband's not the best... I'm on 850kbs here...)
Brockton Viele BAT has been the simplest to install of all these mods. Simply download all the parts and installer, then click on the installer it does it all for you- BUT you must have a clean Il2 1946 patched and then the SAS superpatch first.
pfff...i have RoF with all goodies and map but this is the same only with IL2 landscape......i dont care. This developers team always improve a bit graphics but will never ever bring a new game engine ! new FS2020 will be lightyears ahead and hopefully they do another Combat Flightsimulator for it as in early days :-) !!
