It was my first ever repair on this scale, not the best for sure and I learned my lesson. Thanks alot though Northbridge Fix!
Don't give up, just keep practicing on faulty PCBs you don't need.
I learned my lesson same way as you. I was trying to replace HDMI port on PS4 and it ended up with 5 ripped pads.
After few months and lots of practice PS4 was working again, because I was able to fix it using jumper wires
Don't kick yourself. He makes it look easy. Keep practicing and solder on.
Buy old Xbox 360s they're cheap and a good starting point imo.
Hiroshima under that charger port 🤣 but good content you created well done 👍🏼
That’s not bad at all. I’ve been microsoldering for years and I’ve seen way worse customer attempts. IMO the soldering for the charge port that he did was a little weak. I normally like to put solder balls onto the non visible pads and melt the port into place and then touch up the visible pads.
In fairness, you guys make repairs so interesting that it makes taking it up as a hobby much more appealing. And at least it is an honest customer not a professional repairman that messed it up
Dude, you're f*cking electronical neurosurgeon, you make it look so easy, and as service technician myself for last 14 years (mostly as end user support, basic hardware/software and it outsourcing), i can tell that a lot of people think that it'll be as easy as you present it, but waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaait, there's a catch. That catch is called practice. A SHITTON of practice. My confidence ends somewhere in replacing microUSB ports, reflashing bioses on dead boards and replacing few bigger mosfets, there is no way i'll have balls to go deep in ipad6 or iphone 6 and up. I have microscope, have (i think solid) solid soldering station, have good light, have steady hand, but don't have that confidence. But, i'm trying to practice as much i can. (on laptops i buy referred as "dead" from ebay or so or on really, like really dead boards). I take it more as an hobby than actual focus of my work, but i like to not stand on same spot for a long time, and i love to LEARN more about shit i do.
KUDOS m8, you're pretty inspirational man, love your vids, and love that you share your great knowledge. Thanks a lot for that.
you have the hands of a surgeon, keep up the good work.
Love how you do your videos, everything you say is so precise. And you always show us the working device at the end. I’m going to get into micro soldering repairs when I can get some equipment. Thanks for the inspiration.
Awesome fixing and analyzing skills. You have my humble admiration.
I must always admire the skills and ease going on here and I quite often when working on watches have your video's on playlist and just enjoy listening and watching these amazing repairs :D
As always, impeccable work, the finesse and patience you have is truly remarkable, icon in the making!
loved the sped up piano music in the background. Super Dad.
Awesome video as always. What a great job to have, that your kids can visit you while you work.
I really like ur smiling when u see a device is working….
Hearing children is always nice! I'm enjoying your videos. Watching them i have a craving of replacing and soldering components..
A very interesting video, seeing a real professional at work, with great skill and determination to repair the nigh impossible.
I had a feeling it’s going to work ! Job well done Alex !
Mister u make me so impressed today. You work like a surgeon 👨⚕️. Really enjoy your videos all the time. Thanks for teaching us. Love from Sydney.
another solid repair, thanks for keeping us entertained and educated
Me asombra la facilidad con la que cambia cualquier componente, es un maestro sin duda. Saludos desde México.
Man you work like magic... Great job.
such an inspiration for techies!
Nice, I love how knowledgeable you are
tiny cap : here we goo...
Northbridge : where are you going. huh.. back to place
Wholesome content bro, as a newcomer in repairing this was so helpful and inspiring to me. Greetings from Argentina
It is funny how easy this guy make the soldering process. The experience and consistent work is the reason.
Great work Alex!
Wow! what an awesome repair! You could have repaired 3 Switches with the time used on this board. But what a great guy and a great result
Top man. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏I wish you was over here in the uk brother.
Love your work. 👊😉
Hello from Greece.
You are the best teacher.
Thanks for the knowledge and for your videos.
Also if you can please give the temperature and the speed air then use the hot air.
Regards
I don't want to say you make this all look easy, but you do make it look doable.
You are the man, fantastic job 👏
Kids made a beautiful background music for your video, 🎶.
I worked for a company once who had a standard $15 upfront inspection fee on all jobs, if customer went ahead with repair it was deducted from bill total at the end. On some items if they were considered useful to us as donors and it was likely to be an uneconomical repair we would explain this to customers and offer waive the fee in return for the item.
Outstanding work!
VERY NICE. Reliable supply chain is CRITICAL.
I love your vids, that's why I'm here. I think it's weird though that you sell all the stuff to allow people to attempt these sorts of repairs themselves, yet chastise them for attempting it. Even you, a well experienced technician, knocked off a cap in the process. It would have been cool to hear you say some things they did right and some things they did wrong. Good video either way I just think it would have been more fun to hear a good natured critique since the chap is just learning and working on their own device.
The customer seems to have been honest with what happened. Which is super rare!
Another great repair keep up the good work / stay safe all the best
gracia por todo el conocimiento ,no solo de sus tecnicas de microsoldadura, tambien nos enseña a manejar situaciones como esta con el cliente
Nice job Alex!
Amazing repairment.conguratilations.
14:48 love the humor here
Great great job. Be blessed.
That look of shock and disappointment when reading the client's note. LOL! Ps. Great work - great channel!
I had to laugh at the level of frustration from the first pause in the video before starting the repair.
I've had some like this before and ask myself why am I even bothering, but when it works it's rewarding.
Awesome ✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻
Good intentions to do work gives successful results👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Keep it up🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

Well done!
Wondering how can someone dislike a 20 minutes long video that was uploaded just 20 seconds ago😂😂?
Probably the board owner :)
@Haroldo Hilário 😂😂
@@robp4616 😂😂
the same person who attempted the previous repair
lol
You should definitely do this live on twitch. Nice content
Me: wow, what a great job soldering that USB chip. I wish I could solder as well as that customer.
Alex: we'll have to replace that chip.
Like always..... you are the best !!!! 👌👌👌👌🎊
So smooth
Great Video!! If I need my Electronics fixed, I’m sending them to you. 👍
thank you so much
Indeed for microsoldering proper flux and solder is paramount. Do not cheap on them. Or face consequences in form of solder does not sticking to components or flowing over all area where it must not flow. Destroyed several connectors because of bad flux :( Fake chips nowadays indeed are problem too.
Que maestro de la soldadura y todo.saludos desde Argentina.
Great job and video like always
Great job!
Salaam. Amazing as always . Always watch your videos ❤️🇬🇧👍
@@kaiserschnitselsr.9228Its Salam and that Means peace in Arabic

i enjoy watching your videos i also do repairs i really need to buy some of those tools
انت مدرسة بارك الله فيك
nice work !
bravo sir
Awesome work as always dude. At 12-45 of the video it looks like a missing component and ripped off pads in the top right hand corner of the screen.
Thanks for sharing,
Did the screen also have a crack through it at the end, or a reflection? Good job on the repair as always
ما شاء الله تبارك الله
الله يوفقك اخي وتقريبا رآيت كل فديوهاتك
❤❤❤ اخوك سلام من العراق
happy . you made my day. thx
loved it.
NO YOU DID AN AMAZING JOB AND MUSIC
This is exactly what ASMR videos should look like.
oh boy i have the same issue and ordered all the replacement chip
i hope i dont shake my hand like this dude :D
odd is that i have no shorts at all but it "charges" at 0.2 amps and with a battery which i have loaded externally it works fine and stays on the same percentage (with 15v charger plugged in)
Amazing work as always wondering if keeping the switch docked for long periods of time is bad for it I have 2 I barely get to use one in bedroom for game night with wife and one in living room.
After watching the charging port issues and no power I got scared kept em off the dock 24/7.
Your videos are awesome. Can you tell me what flux, solder, heat temp, and speed u use? Ty 😊
I know the guy who sent this board is going to be reading the comments, so I have but one question...
WHY???
That board screams inexperience; either that or you're using the wrong tools for the job (which, to me, is still a sign of inexperience).
As Alex says, don't practice on boards/devices you care about. Practice on dead boards. At least the missing components were noted in the email as well as all work that was done. Glad this one turned out to be a success.
Gold video
good job man, what temperature do you usually use in your air station ? the components were removed so easily
Omg i was just watching one of your video's i just cant stop i love it !
Watch the cat piss one. It’s hilarious!!
@@dougtaylor7724 i did ! I lol so hard 😂😂
The piss is out of control.
You can’t make that stuff up. A truly classic line.
I thought Repair is easy but now i know it's not easy for everyone 👌
Awesome..
Fluke 87V?? You are the dude.
You are the Best. i learn so much from your Videos! Ty so much for this good work, keep it up !

NorthRidgeFix do you have a video on the basic equipment we need to begin repairing electronics?
Bravo bravo
