I have to be honest, the Bay Area press seems to radically UNDERvalue the Warriors’ younger players and radically OVERvalue the veterans and the value of acquiring other veterans in a trade. LeBron and KD MAY get you into contention if you don’t lose nearly anything getting them, but, like Steph, KD and LeBron are now old, as are Draymond and Klay. That’s just reality. If the warriors have to get rid of JK, MM, BP or TJD, they will not win. The youth are already the core of this team, and without these skilled players that are athletic, the Warriors won’t contend for a title. Steph, LeBron and KD are all highly skilled, but none of them are comparably athletic to Shai, Chet, AE, or Wemby. Even Giannis is struggling to remain physically viable vs the newest NBA players. The Warriors need to keep Steph, JK, MM, TJD, Gui and Podz, and move on from everyone else. If LeBron opts out of LA and signs with the Dubs for almost nothing, yay. If not, trading away young assets makes no sense anymore. That phase of the Warriors has passed, we have to realize that when they were given the opportunity, the youth were the consistency this past year, not the vets

No Lebron attached to Bronny on the Warriors.I cant take the "which big name high priced bench decimating aging star will save the Warriors" conversations. KD obviously…but he’s not the same player he was in 2018 and the supporting cast isn’t the same. Warriors need a defensive legit center who can set screens. A Steven Adams would be great if you can’t get a floor spacer. Looney isn’t as effective anymore as he once was because the number and quality of centers has increased and improved in the last few years and his lack of a jump shot is a liability regardless of what he gives you defensively and rebounding. You can use him at the 4 but then you need a 5 who can space. If you put him at the 5 then you need a 4 who is a legit 3 and D guy but then you have redundance of skill sets with Draymond. So Warriors are in a tough spot bc they’re a middle of the pack team now. It’s going to be rough for Golden State for the near future regardless of the moves they make cuz they won’t be at the bottom of the league but they won’t be a contender either

LeBron to the Warriors being the reason Draymond finally gets in line, makes me value him even less. That implies he has more respect for LeBron than Steph. Iggy doing the 'hand gesture' while Draymond was giggling with LeBron was a red flag. That, among other, team/future destroying reasons, is why I don't want to see this. At least KD comes with little to no drama. On the other hand, KD comes back and wins a 3rd finals MVP, then the questions Steph worked so hard to answer will come back.

@@yt.damian Yea, the media may not like KD, but that took another ring and Charles starting the bus rider narrative. The media HATES giving Steph any credit outside of shooting. Best believe they will hold 1 finals MVP out of 5 against him. He doesnt even get the Tim Duncan love. He has never gotten credit for being unselfish and doing his part in winning. Media pundits have taken every opportunity to question his leadership recently. If there are no questions, they will invent them. If they cant say he's not that guy, theyll just bring up accolades. Another example is the Magic convo, he walked onto one of the most stacked teams ever (Imagine LeBron/AD duo but better) and the team got even better after that (not to mention that pathetic 80's western conference). Magic enjoyed a superteam for his entire tenure, yet he just washes Steph who had to live through a rebuild. Stephs main competition are the two most coddled/helped players of all time (Magic for PG, LeBron rival)

I’d give up Wiggs + Moody for any takers who’d give us a 1st rounder plus salary fillers (I’m looking at the Mavs with Hardaway and Josh Green). I’d send those salary fillers to Utah plus that acquired 1st and 2 more of ours (3 firsts total) and 2 pick swaps for Lauri. As long as OKC doesn’t get involved (for some reasons, they aren’t as high on Lauri), we have a good chance. I’d then pick up GP2’s TO and package that with another 1st and another swap and send that to Chicago for Caruso. We get to keep JK that way and I’d then extend him along the numbers of a Jaden McDaniels/Devin Vasell (5 years 130-140m which is ~ 28-26m a year). I’d let go of CP3’s contract, sign Klay to a 2-3 contract (20-23m range). I’d pick up another athlete defender in Derrick Jones Junior, a stretch 4 (Batum dream choice, maybe bring back Saric if that doesn’t work) and a big bruising big (Drummond my 1st choice but any robust big body would do). Cut Looney (sad but he’s gotta go).
    Steph, Caruso, JK, Dray, Markannen.
    Podz, Klay, DJJ, Batum, TJD
Drummond etc (I literally don’t care about the rest of the roster).
We’d not have any pick control for the next 6-7 years but we’d have 21 yr old Kuminga & Podz who I REALLY believe in. Markannen is still 26 too and we’d still have the big 3 for at least another 3 years I believe.
This is the best, most realistic thing we could do this off season imo. That starting 5 would be epic. Caruso & Draymond for perimeter & interior defense respectively plus ultimate Swiss Army knife utility on both ends of the floor including playmaking. JK for rim/interior offense and Lauri basically gives you something close to a prime Klay that 7 FEET tall for rebounding and interior help defense.

The problem is that our trade assets like Wiggins & Klay didn't have good years and clearly on the decline. That reduced their trade value and the Suns aren't going to want high priced bench players in exchange for a mercurial starter. So a trade for KD is probably out, unless he sits out or something like that.
Lebron could be interesting and it's probably time to rework the offense anyway. Yes he's lazy on defense and he's injury prone, but so is Klay. If we drop Klay and trade Wiggins for a better 2 way and keep the bench intact, we won't need Steph & LeBron playing 40 minutes a game. Kuminga & Podz can start more games and become the offensive threats we need, like they were starting to be this season.
Frankly though I'm not at the "let's blow it up" stage. This year feels more like an outlier in terms of the West's performance. I am not certain the other teams can continue that winning pace- those sorry ass East teams will improve this offseason and they won't be as easy pickings next season.

The narrative from Steph is how much he loves he loves the Bay area. The reflection is always we owe it to him to get him another ring.
I'm not certain the attempt is worth costing possibly 10 to 15 seasons after he is gone to even sniff playoff success. If the organization has to ship off most of JK, TJD, BP and Moody to make it happen that is what will be the outcome.
If LeBron wants to taken an unlikely discount so the Dub can find other complimentary bench strength, maybe extra rim protection, ok. KD would cost too much and has only one less injury than Klay, the reason Klay can't be a two-way asset anymore. It would be a ticking time bomb. I want to see how much progress a summers work by those 4 young guys and consistent playing time next season changes the Dubs trajectory. Despite the rhetoric the only "real" development nba teams provide is playing time (amazing how JK "blossomed" after calling out his lack of PT).
The young guys go just to chase rainbows them I'm probably going to find something else to pass time in the winter.

With a track record of coping the most difficult player to work with in history for a decade, any smart manager would have jumped at him. • @RiceWarrior34

I take neither. At this point in everyone's careers, Its just not going to happen. It'll be like The Lakers last "Superteam" with Nash, Kobe, Pau, and Dwight, with 2 of those 4 just straight up injured most of the time, and Kobe on his last productive legs. Trying to get Lebon + Steph or KD + Steph for "One Last Hurrah" will only set the team farther back with a 1st round exit to show for it (See Phoenix this year).
At this point, they need to lean into their youth. They need to start running through Kuminga more (I know, I know), and play Trayce and Moody more. They need to find a way to dump Wiggs, CP, and Klay (unless Klay takes a MASSIVE discount and a much reduced role). Then turn that into one more good player or more productive depth and ride out Curry's final days. That's really the only way for the team to not completely crash and burn once the wheels come off the vets for good.
I'd love to dump Wiggs and CP for one really good player, but I seriously doubt that'll happen, so I say get some decent role players and some picks to refresh the war chest. Maybe we strike gold again in the draft. Maybe we are able to turn it into a better player down the line when someone else gets disgruntled. But I feel that's the only positive way forward.
