  • This little guy has some pretty impressive specs! The Samsung 50S cell produces 25A Continuous and 45A peak, meaning that 2 in parallel gives 90A peak at 72V (90A x 72V = 6480W). Now you'd obviously drain it pretty fast at that rate, but still fun to know the power is there.
This video we show you how we built this battery using a custom 3D Printed cell holder pattern, Copper Plates that are economically available to purchase, and a Bluetooth ANT BMS to keep things in check and let us now what's going on over our Smartphone.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE : The Reention Downtube cases are pretty much all interchangeable! In this video we are using a DP7 (21700) Base, and a DP4C Lid, they butt right up! This can also be done with a DP5C Lid to get a 14S4P pack. Pretty cool! We found this out only by playing around with the cases, as the manufacturer does not list them this way.
We hope you enjoy this one! Let us know what you'd like to see!
Thanks for checking this out ! :)

Holy.... this is exactly what I need for my build... definitely know what I'm building over summer once I get some practice in with smaller packs

    Some superior video production!

Nice job on the battery build. Everything looks safe and great up until then. The placement of the battery into its case can use a little improvement but all in all well done. Here's your grade: B+

Smart move with the indicator wiring

I just built a bike using a CYC X1 Gen 4 and thanking about getting a battery off you guys, what do you think about individually wiring the cells with fuse wire?
Do you recommend and sell the Grin Satiator charger?

I would use molicel 45a (40amps per cell 80amps total)

Those would have been awesome cells to use I agree. The person we put this pack together for wanted to have the 10AH so we went with the 50S cells. If it was my own personal battery P45B would have been my choice too 😁

Do you make those copper plates or can you buy them somewhere pre-cut like that? Would love to get my hands on pre made ones..

Yes we get them made, if you go on Alibaba and type in "Copper Bus Bars" there are a few providers, they are a great investment!

Nice pack. Is there no need of putting a fuse for a second level of protection, incase the bms fails?

Fuse or breaker is never a bad idea ! You can never be too safe. In our experience usually when the BMS fails the battery just shuts off. Thanks for the comment ! 😁

What was the purpose of a different base and lid?

    • @ElectricBikeLaboratory
      @ElectricBikeLaboratory  Před 5 měsíci +1

Normally this battery is not possible to build unless you use the base of one battery and the lid of the other. The DP7 case that we use the base from is a 70 cell pack, which is obviously way too big for this pack. Then the DP4C lid is originally intended for a 39 or 40 cell pack with small BMS (48V15AH or 36V20AH) , the "C" stands for "Controller" as normally the DP4C base makes room for a controller (while sacrificing space inside the battery). We can still use the lid from the DP4C as it's shorter but the DP7 base leaves more room for cells / larger BMS as it doesn't have the controller compartment.
      Hope that makes sense !

Thumbnail says 5000w and then you go use 12g power wires?
