  • Sorry this video is late! August and September will also be pretty busy for me so I'll only be able to put out one video instead of two, but I hope this video will appease your anger. hahaha j/k j/k
    The heat setting for your iron might vary according to your device or the thickness of your PVC fabric btw. So test it out first - You can't have crafting without trial and error, right?

    Thank you so much for sharing this! ❤️❤️❤️ I can't wait to make one myself!
    Stupid question, if I use the hair straightener / flatiron and I accidentally melt the PVC fabric on the straightener, will it mess up the straightener? I wasn't sure if should buy one dedicated specifically for crafts, if I still use it for my hair! 😅

    • @Tomatoda
      @Tomatoda  Před 5 lety +7

      LOL that's a pretty legit question! The couple (maybe 5) times I melted the pvc kind of badly, it had easily peeled off! Thankfully 😆 But once it didn't peel off, so I turned off the straightening iron and waited for it too cool down. Then the pvc cleanly peeled afterwards. I'm not sure if it depends on your hair straightener, but I can't imagine it sticking to the iron imo....

    • @nerdysloth5003
      @nerdysloth5003 Před 2 lety +2

      U can try checking Joanns Fabric if they have it too btw! But someone I know in the past use to use clear book covers for her charms, but it is thinner. You could also check out clear vinyl table cloth/covers :) They come folded in the packaging, but.. I think its actually the same thing?

    • @Tomatoda
      @Tomatoda  Před 4 lety

      honestly, I have no experience with an impulse sealer and I don't know much about them beside the fact that they seal plastic bags 😅 so I actually can't say. I like to use the hair straightener because I can control the heat setting.. and also use it for my hair. LOL But it sounds like you already have a hair straightener? so give that a go first. Sorry! This is so cute! I've been wanting to make shaker charms, but I didn't want to use any resin. 😭 This is a great alternative.
    Do you happen to know if it's possible to put the washi tape inside of the PVC (before sealing with the iron), cut the edges for the candy wrapper look, and then melt the PVC afterwards?

    • @Tomatoda
      @Tomatoda  Před 3 lety +1

      I haven't! but it sounds like something that would definitely be possible! I'd also imagine you'd have to really really seal the the bottom and top of the washi tape well for it to stay in place. Let me know the results if you ever give it a try!

    Hey!!! :DDD I was wondering what vinyl to buy, considering my Walmart doesn’t sell it... I’m looking on Amazon. Do you have any recommendations? Also, I keep seeing these vinyl tablecloth sheets that might work. What do you think? (Also, I don’t want to damage my hair straightener, so could I use a parchment paper or foil to protect the straightener when doing the heat melting step?)

    • @Tomatoda
      @Tomatoda  Před 3 lety

      hi! there's a pinned comment about the vinyl and the size. I feel like vinyl tablecloths would be too thick.. but as I dont have actual experience with it, I'm not too sure 🤔 I think you can give foil a try because there could be possibility the parchment paper would stick or it would hinder the heat? 😬 I cant give you a for sure answer to these questions tho because I haven't tried them out myself 😅 sorry
