Actually, that thing cannot be called a turtle. In Chinese mythology, this mythical animal is called "Bixi". In the legend, it is considered to be the sixth son of the ancestor loong, but it is the most prestigious and powerful of the nine sons of the loong. It has the blood of the loong, but it does not belong to the loong.
In order to erect monuments and write biographies for the deceased emperors and saints, the ancients often used huge stone tablets on the back of Bixi, intending to rely on his divine power to last forever.
其实，那个东西不能叫乌龟，在中国神话中，这种神话传说中的动物被称之为“赑屃”，在传说故事中被认为是始祖之龙的第六个儿子，但却是龙的九个儿子中最具有声望与力量的，有着龙的血脉，但不属于龙。
古人为给死后的帝王圣贤树碑立传，歌功颂德，常用巨大的石碑立于赑屃背上，意在依靠他的神力，可以经久不衰，千秋永存。
