    This is the reason why many choose a Kia over other established marques; very good value for money. Even the Japanese do not have as much standard as this Kia. It is why they sell very well globally. Excellent review Joseph!

      No problem at all, sir! Yes Hyundai and Kia have transformed themselves in the last 15 years from cheap and slightly dated budget brands to excellent quality, bang up to date competitive purveyors of easily recommendable everyday cars with excellent warranties. No wonder people have been buying them!

    I totally agree. A great used buy. In April this year one of my friends, a new dad, had asked me to recommend a decent 3/4 year old supermini which he'd get a buggy in the back of. This was my go to car thanks to the brilliant warranty, large boot, safety record, low insurance and cheap road tax. We ended up getting him a 5 door SR7 as it just had so many more toys than the 1 trim for not a lot more cash. It makes a lot of sense.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Před 3 lety +1

      It's quite hard to go wrong with one of these if you don't mind the very long dashboard. The space inside is quite impressive for a small car, and, as you say, the 5 door is available if the three door is too cramped. The SR7 seems pretty well equipped, and with two years of warranty left, it does make ever such a lot of sense as a secondhand car for general family use.

    A very good starting point for this new series on the channel Mr Lloyd! The Rio is definitely a sensible choice. 7 Year warranty too 🤗

    My wife had 2009 and 2011 kia Picantos and our daughter still drives the 2011 model. Excellent cars that are bulletproof and fabulous in the snow. I have nothing bad to say about Kias. Any model in their range will be a perfectly good daily driver.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Před 3 lety

      Wow, yes, people do love their Kias, and I certainly understand why. Our lodger has a 2010 Picanto, I have driven it a short distance, and it is a lively little thing. This Rio was even better!

      @@lloydvehicleconsulting put simply. A Kia will start every morning Summer and Winter, the heater will be toasty, the brakes will be strong, the seats are well shaped, the gearchange is positive, lights powerful, engine strong and reliable. The dealers are generally great and the warranty, not that you should need it, is amazing. Any warranty repairs are sorted promptly without question with new guaranteed parts if required. Servicing is very affordable and the cars don't rot in my experience. I could not recommend a make any more highly, honestly.

      @@seancooke4127 , yes, this was a very impressive little car and a very safe bet for less than £5000. Simon sold this particular one, but many others are out there, of course. Kia and Hyundai make some of the most reliable modern cars, borne out by some of the best warranties in the business, and owners seem to love them. I have sourced many Kias for clients for the years, and they have almost universally been impressed with them.

  • @colinhicks4174

    That looks quite a nice sorted car. Given the slightly MPV styling at the front I thought you were going to say it had quite a high driving position.
    Like the new format. 🙂

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Před 3 lety +1

      Oh, it doesn't have a high driving position at all, it just has quite a deep dashboard! It certainly is a very good car, it's going to be hard to beat on Sensible Secondhand Reviews...

      Well, this one was absolutely brilliant! If you are in Essex, I would recommend taking a look at it. I can't recommend one of these highly enough for a first car.

    I like shorter bonnet of this iteration of the Rio, but the back window is small and doesn't have the vision of my ancient Skoda Fabia. This model is in consideration for my next car, but I am also thinking of a mark 5 VW Polo TSI.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Před 8 měsíci

      The Rios tend to be more dependable than the Polos, actually. I would definitely recommend parking sensors if you are going for one of these, however. Thank you very much indeed for watching this terrible old video!

    Excellent Joseph, think there are many people looking for cars in this price range.
    The mark ll Jazz could be a possibility now!
    So the Rio is a very good car but lacks dynamism, but of course that's what many people want.
    My sister had a Rio ( the 1.1 with the rattly engine!) and two picantos afterwards, never had any problems.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Před 3 lety

      Yes sir, definitely the second generation Jazz would fit in this price range. The Rio rides and handles just fine, the gearchange is a particular highlight as it is just so easy. It doesn't handle as well as an MG3, but then that has a much stiffer ride and worse interior quality (in the pre-facelift ones anyway). Not everyone wants such a sporty emphasis in a cheap car to get them around, and so this will suit a lot of people. As you say, these are incredibly reliable too. Thank you for your self censorship!

    Probably a much better car than a European equivalent , and Kia’s current offerings , look proper handbrake, proper dials, no stupid touchscreens, what’s not to like ?

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Před 3 lety +1

      Absolutely! Very well made for a cheap car, nice driving position, comfortable suspension, easy controls to understand and a much better warranty than all of those European cars too. This is going to be a hard car to beat for the money, although an MG3 does drive better at the expense of a firmer ride.

    great video J. I like the Rio. I don't get to see many hatchbacks compared to the saloon in Russia. I hopefully will be filming a Kia Sorento
    prime soon :D I'm excited.

    Like an old cardigan it's something you wear everyday because although it's dated, out of fashion, a bit boring. It keeps you warm, never lets you down and does the job of a flashier designer model.😁 Nice review once again.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Před 3 lety +2

      Yes, this is why we have a sensible modern daily car as well as ridiculous old Rovers. It just does the job. For around £5,000, I think it is going to be hard to beat this as a sensible secondhand purchase.

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Před 11 měsíci +1

      Drove another one of these with this engine and gearbox the other day. Still superb little cars, would be fine on a motorway. The one I drove had a clutch that was almost at the end of its life, so that is definitely something to avoid.

    How much hp does the rio 3 door have?

    • @lloydvehicleconsulting
      @lloydvehicleconsulting  Před 3 lety

      It's not so much about the number of doors being related to the power output, it's just what engine is in the car. This one has a 1.25 litre petrol engine with 84 bhp, but there are numerous other engines too.
