Doomed is exactly the right word to describe what is happening to not only the rule of law~ In every department of the Federal (and lots of State's) government you find a plethora of unqualified employees. It's high time we end the practice (very popular with politicians, as it's a way to incentivize and reward donors and people who've worked on their campaigns) of appointments not based on qualifications. Prospective gov't employees should have to apply for and compete for job openings based on merit. And once someone is hired, they should only be promoted to a higher responsibility position if they are QUALIFIED for THAT position. As it stands now, they automatically move up the ladder based on time in service, or the "Hey, they do the job they have now pretty well, so I guess they'll be okay at the new job", or the "Hey, they haven't murdered a co-worker lately" philosophy. I have known quite a few gov't employees who were MORONS and should never have been promoted to the jobs they held!! Come on, people, WAKE UP!!!

This breaks my heart. I am older and have seen Congressmen come together from both sides of the aisle to vote on good legislation and congratulate each other. Instead it is all about party lines. Watching this abomination voting on Judges, JUDGES where innocents are concerned I am in tears. So sad for all Americans!!!
