- In today's video, Anthony attempts to remove old sticker/PPF adhesive residue from the bumper of an old Acura RSX. (aka Acura Integra) To make things a little more interesting, Anthony uses both Koch Chemie Eulex and Koch Chemie Tea in a head-to-head adhesive residue removal comparison-- The results of which just might surprise you!

I just wished I had heard this earlier this week! I took on a client with a 2014 Tundra Red that had horrible PPF failure. I am at the stage exactly where you where on the Eu pulling off the clear coat while using the plastic scraper just to remove the layer of adhesives, it really is killer of good feelings. EU on this one is not even softening the adhesive layer, I had to go stronger chemicals. I still have more adhesive to remove as you can tell that by the look and feel. Polishing and even sanding is tried at this point, not reacting like my last PPF removal on a motor home.
The concept of the slow evaporation with Tea is similar to my Xylene and is helpful but takes twice as long. Then I am certain that the air temps do impact the process so fighting that with 90-95 temps by 10AM and humid. I feel bad about the clear coat pulling off with the adhesive layer but it is something I cannot control but I still feel haunted trying to get a clear and shiny result. The real truth is to educate the owner of PPF films to remove at at the 5-year period if kept outdoors or do not wait until it turns ugly. I love PPF on my cars but this is just sad waiting until it is to this stage.
Shoutout to Seabass' cameo. Awesome comparison and demo.
Thanks, @Buckyvw -Gabe
Eulex is no joke.. I made an ooopys moment two years ago trying to remove bakes on tree sap and softened the paint to the point that it made a divot down to bare metal.
nice video.Eulex has been a wonder for me old bumper stickers and the like. I can see the tea for larger areas.
I used Eulex over the weekend for the first time. Removed some old wheel weight adhesive from the barrels of my wheels. Very good for that, extremely strong. I tried KCx Orange Power first and it wasn't cutting it. Need to get some Tea to try as well. Eulex is extremely strong and I only use it rarely for that reason. Like a sledge hammer 😁
Well done, this video was needed. I have heard other horror stories about eulex assisting with the removal of clear coat by letting it sit on paint then aggressively going after a spot. TEA seems like it is maybe a more versatile product, if only because its safer/easier to use.
Definitely don’t use EULEX on vinyl wrap, I learned that the hard way.
I agree with you here, the eulex breaking down clear coat to me doesn't make sense just using the product or kcx would've never made it.
However like you said, they left it on the panel and then the more abrasion you use things happen
Tea definitely more versatile
Those horror stories are probably true.
I was working on an old bondo patch and got some leftover glue from the masking tape. It was my first time with Eulex and I had no idea it could be so strong. The old repair was covered only in single stage rattle can paint and Eulex went through the paint in a single swipe! After a minute of rubbing all of the old paint was gone, down to the factory paint underneath.
EU is too strong. Would only use it on bare metal. Tested it on a few household items like a window frame, HVAC box and it took off paint with just a microfiber towel and rubbing but the glue was still there. It also gases out easily and it's bad. It's basically a paint thinner or acetone like type of product. Tea is soft but better to let it sit longer and be safe, you and the paint on the car...
Spilled some on an old metal tool box and took some paint off. Used it on 18 year old wheels to remove old adhesive wheel weights and tar and did a great job. Didn’t let it dwell long at all.
Anthony, can you do a video or perhaps a FAQ on how to repair or hide those small sections of the clear coat that pulled off with the adhesive layer? You have skills with the Y2K Clear and other tips to share!
EuV is as good as Eu. But is a low odor version. Use that in bad ventilated areas. Also a tip. Remove the cap in the bottle, and fit a trigger sprayer to the Eu bottle. Makes it faster and easier to work with 😊 enjoy!🎉
So eulex is stronger and evaporates. Tea is not as strong and stays on the surface. Tea is probably better for tar and asphalt. Where eulex is better for tree sap, sticker adhesives.
EU is maybe too strong, why don't use EUM instead? EUM = For matte varnish and less strong.
Why not just soapy water?
I’m sure Anthony sh!t his pants when that paint started coming off. 😢
This was an extra bumper he got for the RSX, but it was definitely a bummer as we were pretty far in when he notice some paint coming off.
First!
3M adhesive remover 😁
Does it perform good on PPF glue please guide
Just to make things even more complicated and confusing, KCX have a third product that dissolves other sticky stuff: it's called Fleckenwasser (FW) 😂 and it's available back here in Europe 😂
P. S. I don't think you want to work those products in the sun.
They also have orange power as well
@@KiranPatel-fk1pg Correct! In the US market, they have Eulex (their strongest adhesive remover of the three), follwed by Tea (middle ground strength adhesive remover), and Orange (least strongest).
