  • HI everyone we are going to start our shut down procedures for our central boiler cl 6048 classic wood boiler! There is a special process to shutting these machine down so please take the time to watch the video series. This process is similar to other units as well, outside of central boiler, so hope you can learn something!

    I live in Iowa and still using the fireplace. It is snowing as I am writing this comment. We are on a roller coaster for temperatures this spring.

      Indeed! Tis the season to be done with it haha all I have left is premium seasoned wood which I cant justify burning when its 55 out haha! Thanks for tuning in!

    I shut my down here in southwest Missouri about 2 weeks ago. Prior to that I did a treatment with the sludge conditioner. Shut it down, drained out all of the water, filled with new water and MolyArmour. Ran it for about three weeks before shutting it down for the summer. CB 5036. I still need to scrape and empty the ash out. First water change out since 2011.

      Hey there sounds like you did it right! Gave the sludge conditioner enough time to do its thing, drained and refilled! Make sure you at least take the ash out now. You dont want to leave any ash in there as it can hold moisture and can rot the machine out! Im sure you know but just a friendly reminder!

      Hey TC! Just came back from your channel actually lol yeah all I have left is premium hardwood (which isnt bad) but cant justify burning that when its 55 out during the day lol so we shut her down!

    Thanks for the videos. Here in MN I run my 5036 24/365! Can’t fathom spending money on propane to heat all the water in a home with 3 girls! Only use about an additional cord and a half to run it thru summer.

    • @HomesteadJay
      @HomesteadJay  Před 2 lety +2

      Hey Trapper. You are a much stronger person than me lol I couldnt justify having to run this machine all summer. I love wood heat. I love this boiler. But 6ish months is enough for me lol

    I have a outside boiler do you have to keep water in boiler all summer?

    • @HomesteadJay
      @HomesteadJay  Před 2 lety

      Yes keep water in it. Whatever model/brand you have it "should" have some type of water treatment testing to do to make sure your water isnt corrosive and the PH is correct.

    Diesel fuel and a cheap sprayer works real good. Leave the door open and spray diesel fuel on the top and side walls with a small fire

    • @HomesteadJay
      @HomesteadJay  Před 2 lety +1

      Thats not a good idea to use any liquid fuel on these machines in any way. I do not recommend that at all nor does central boiler for many obv reasons.
