Been a Texas deer hunter my whole life and have learned more from your videos over the last year than I’ve learned in my lifetime. Ranching experience vs “Hunter” experience is much appreciated. Growing up we’ve always fed corn and will continue to, just won’t be using it in our protein feeders anymore. Never knew that could be a problem. And, never thought about moving our feed pens due to contamination. Great insight! Thanks for putting all the work into your videos and please keep them coming.
Great wildlife and land management applications and stewardship brought out well in this video. I have added it to my Ranch Life playlist on my channel. And yes, a live stream during the feeder use season would be a good draw for new and regular viewers.
Awesome, thank you!
Thank you for what you do ,I am 60 years old and an been hunting all my life I love when I see and hear of ranchers managing the deer herds great job look forward to watching more you tube videos on you.👍
I love watching the deer videos... Big Bucks are just a bonus. I use to watch a Live Feeder Cam on a few websites for hours this time of year and loved seeing what all comes to the feeders. You never know what may show up. Thank you for sharing your videos. I really enjoy them~!
Thanks 👍
I enjoy your shows. Explaing the different things you do. Thank you for all you are doing.
Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much for sharing your fantastic operation and your management process/program really works! Would love to see the other deer videos!! Thanks again and appreciate it greatly. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
More to come!
Great work. You are right, one has to have the heart for the deer to manage them well. Thank you for sharing.
Yes, thanks
I’d love to watch a live feed from a trail cam on your channel. Thank you for this video and explaining some of the things that go into managing your deer population.
Very informative, so keep posting these types of videos as well.

Glad you like them!
Very interesting stuff man!!! 👍🏾
Very interesting, more please
Awesome, keep up the good work
Thanks, will do!
The knowledge and know how to operate a ranch of this magnitude is impressive. Very interesting to see videos like this. I’m like you, I love big deer, but don’t care to hunt them. They should be appreciated and respected and allowed to keep the herd growing. But that is just my opinion. Great video!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Would love to see more deer videos
Yes more deer videos please
I never hunted before, would love to try it.
Right on . Like your theory for sure.
Thanks!
Would love to see more deer.
I like watching deer videos.
Me too!
@arms family and @keepin it dutch.. i think the woul like this video. You are very interesting
Thank you for your knowledge, I'm always looking for knowledge weather it be the ranching or wildlife management. It would be neat to se some of your survey work from the air and some of the undesirable traights you look for in management deer.
Its very suprising land owners that would rather have paid hunters that are hunting those antlers instead of letting some one come in to cull and give kids opportunities and that just want something to eat and have that relaxation that comes with hunting.
Thank you, Brian Brown
You are right on the money!
Good stuff brotha keep it up !!
Appreciate it
good stuff
Great interesting video
Glad you enjoyed it
Awesome video
Glad you enjoyed it
Would love to see videos of the deer.
Wow!! You do everything! That is a lot of acres you have. I enjoy watching those nights time Deer eating. Look at that rack!! Impressive. No on Instagram but on CZcams. I need to send my Husband there. Thanks for explaining. Big Hugs from Northern Idaho> Deborah & Paul
Thanks, you too!
Don't eat dear meat..but I love looking at them..yes start a stream..if it isn't too much work for you..Love watching your videos.❤🇺🇸
Only deer I've seen up close..wear a bomber jacket saying flight school. Plush!
Live stream would be great
It is informative to hear the real side off deer management what is the most dependable trail camera in your opinion Thanks Pat
We are using Spartan right now. Stay tuned...
Yet another fascinating video. So, if we want deer to come into our property, so we can watch them (would never kill a deer) tell me what we should feed them and where we should get it. Would love game cam videos!
If you want healthy deer, you need to feed protein. Purina sells a good protein. Your local feed store would have it.
Jason it was good to hear your experience on your deer herd and not feeding corn, moving feeders and panel use, good common sense methods I hope to implement on our land we have acquired the last couple of years, we have a lot more hogs than you but that isn't a plus for sure.
Thanks for watching!
A lot of us like to watch feeder cameras. All kinds of interesting things happen there.
Yes!
yes sir would enjoy watchin some of gods dreat creatures eating and just plane bein deer thanks man for sharin ur life with us
Great Video and by the way there was a quail in the back seen. Thank you
Snatch snatch snatch...LOL!
I love that you want deer on the property. So many people consider them a nuisance.
I noticed y'all don't seem to be houseplant people, which leads me to wonder if you've got a garden of sorts? You've got the perfect property to set a Food Forest up and I'm curious if you've ever thought of actually planting a browsing area for the deer? (if anything to keep them out of a possible garden)
I don't know what kinds of vegetative goodies are natural to your area as you wouldn't want to introduce an invasive plant, but sticking some plant seeds in a bird feeder or making a suet cake out of fertile seeds is a good way to distribute them property wide.
Permaculture is your friend and animals are a part of that perfect system.
They browse on our alfalfa fields.
Great video
Content
Glad you enjoyed it
I was amazed to to have read (about 15 years ago) that TN has ~800,000 deer and ~160,000 are killed per year from hunting and road accidents
You should be on tv bubba!!
Thanks
Jason,
Maybe you've covered this in another video but what is your educational and work experience background? I find your base knowledge of all the intricate areas of the ranch very fascinating. That may come from living and growing up there but it seems to be much more. Some people have a natural gift of intelligence and information absorption but others (me) have to work very hard at it. How about a video about your story?!?!
Great suggestion! Don't confuse the education with intelligence. I am always trying to learn and surround myself with really smart, hardworking people.
It would be super interesting to see ai techniques with deer.
Yea I love see your technique on how you clone them
Would be neat to see some camera shots. I had a South Texas ranch which was mostly high fenced. Almost like pets. I was more interested in watching them grow than shoot them.
More videos please
Thank you for CORN comment. I have been saying that along time. Corn over all is bad
Hello. What was the name of the protein feed you use for your deer? I have a lease in Menard County and we’ve been using Purina Antlermax for years but it’s gotten so expensive. I’d like to try your feed if it’s available at the feed store in Menard that I use. Thanks. Love your videos. 👍🏻🇺🇸
Do the live stream !
Put some more of them big bucks on for us to enjoy 👍👍
Where in Amarillo can I get wheat mids and is it only bulk ??
I watched the last couple of videos where you were talking about the weather (and your ice storm) and was wondering why such the difference in weather from Nashville, TN since we're at about the same latitude....you're 2,000 feet higher in elevation.
It just dips down,, maybe the lower humidity. I'm not sure on exactly why.
Yes. Like your videos
On your massive bucks
Thanks for the video ! Do you have a runway on the ranch for guests to fly into?
The driveway serves as a helipad.
What is your long range guns manf. Cal. and optics I really love the deer vids
The one I'm shooting now is a Surge 300 Norma with a Night Force scope with Trimmer 3 reticle. Thanks for watching!
How do you mitigate the feral pigs?
Helicopter management?
Are they a huge problem in your area?
They are not a huge problem in our immediate area. They are just south of us, though. They are coming! They are shot from the helicopter and on the ground. I shot one last night from 1000 meters on the ground.
I've been feeding corn and would like to the name of feed your feeding and ware to purchase it cause I didn't no corn was really bad for dear?
Low fence ? Can the deer 🦌 jump over those white pen fences, or are there lower parts to the pens ?
Ah, re-watched the night vision of Mendota Max, saw one in the background jumping
P.S.- love to hunt there! Lol
The feed is wheat tips? I couldn’t understand though I listened three or four times. Looks like it’s pelleted.
Wheat mids. Creep feed is also a close option.
How about Mandoda BULLWINKALE....
What's the name of that feed? And or place you purchase it from?
Wheat mids. I order from my local feed store.
I can’t find any wheat midds, do you know where I could get some plz?
I buy mine from a commodity barn. Frontier Trading. Guthrie Oklahoma.
You look so extremely familiar
What is It that you’re feeding?
Wheat mids
How do you keep someone from shooting Max?
He never leaves the ranch. 26k acres
Hey where can u feet that feed
I order from my local feed store. Wheat mids
How is it to shoot a buck or doe I always wanted to shoot me one
That's very interesting. You are an fascinating person!! I just love your videos!! You just have to show us a video on embryo transfer and artificial insemination on deer!! That's gonna be interesting!!
I did one and it got blocked!
@@themendotaranch well damn!!!
what is your buck to doe ration out of 150 deer?
ratio
It is about 50/50
How does one start a deer ranch
Buy a ranch
Very interesting I’d love to see you flying around in that helicopter counting all those animals and do you have elk on your ranch 👍🤠🦌🦃🐴🐇🙏🏻🇺🇸🔫
The counting video is coming! We occasionally see a stray elk!
Wheat mids ? And where can I buy this
They are a bi product of a flour mill. Start at your local feed store. See if they can get it for you. Most creep feeds are made from wheat mid so a creep feed may work for you.
also call mill run best part of the wheat kernel
Wheat what?
mids. I order from my local feed store.
deer videos
My goal is meet I trophies nice butt my goal was mainly to eat feed my family down here South Carolina rdr2 don't grow that big because South Carolina game and what they brought into mule deer but if I took them as trophies and they didn't have time to pass on the genetic material and too many people here won't trophy dealers instead of weaning out the Kohl's take me home first and let them bucks pass on their genetic material
Makes a lot of sense also by taking the mature deer you're ensuring its Bloodlines been passed on but you're also ensuring that signs aren't breeding mothers that way you know we don't get no inbreeding I mean here South Carolina it got your system got so out of whack it's not funny I mean we got those where the only way you used to tell a doe here with seeing in a wreck on them or not rack on them you know that's big dose and mature bucks but when a rabbit head deer where they've been too much inbreeding in their heads and necks or two small is bad genetic material and overcrowding
You are right on the money!
I really thought my dad taught me all the important 411 about deer.
I tip my hat SIR, you win.❣❣❣
Browse line, your choice of feed, the astounding size of that buck. You coulda knocked me over with a feather. Steve Isdahl ( howtohunt.com ) and you have cornered the market on this subject.
Everytime I watch your channel I find tidbits and piles of serious know how, i wasnt aware of.
🤠😇🥰👋👋👍👍👍👍👍👍❣❣❣❣
You are SCARY SMART, WOW❣🤠
Thank you! Keep watching!
I’ll bet not having noobs shoot them all as 3 yr olds helps a ton
So you dont hunt tgecdear you just feed them..that's interesting..I thni you might be a good Nature type guy like Grixxly Adam's but much better looking..
There shouldn't be shot until they passed on their genetic blood bloodline for I don't know 4 years and then need to taken I believe in from that point on you know you can take that book but he has to pass on his genetic material first
DONT DO INSTGRAM...
Why not?
