    I have the same engine in my A6 c6f. (Manual). Also tuned as yours. And i can also say that "nothing" happens before 2k rpms. When it hits 2k in f.ex 2nd gear, it send all the same power all the way up to 4-4.5k. These engines are perfect. 10/10 stars for VW/Audi diesel engines.
    And also the tune has a big difference in top speed. Drove mine 249km/h on the german autobahn. It's crazy what that 2 litre diesel engine can do.

    I could be totally wrong but when you had the camera on the rear end it sounded like the caliper is rubbing on the rotor...like those pins that the the pads slide on need lube. But it could be nothing. My GTI was doing that and it drove me nuts. Took it to a foreign car repair and they could not find the problem. I finally figured it out myself and I am really not much of a mechanic. And now, back to the Corrado. Cheers!

    That hesitation can be a whole lot of things. Could be N75. It could be turbo vanes sticking. Can also be throttle pedal, altough if its only between gear changes then thats unlikely. I would plug in an OBD tool preferably one that can record live data and go for a drive, re-create the problem and then look at the data to see if there is anything obvious.

    I've got the same engine as you 170 brd 2.0tdi, I get the delay between 1000 and 2000rpm (Turbo's kick in late on these far as i know) and i also get lag between gear changed where it dips off then suddenly powers up again after you've shifted up a gear and your foots down, and i think its fairly normal on them to be honest, i do know that these engines compared to the 2.0 140 suffer from a large amount of turbo lag, mines also remapped (Apparently to 205) with an egr dpf delete and straight through exhaust, you'll also struggle to get any more noise out of it cause like i say mines straight through and it doesn't really sound that loud, the only thing that's more pronounced is the turbo spooling down between gearchanges

  • @Logicalx
    @Logicalx Před 3 lety +5

    That's the problem with the generic maps. Wouldn't touch them without a full custom rolling road map (like your Golf). Now that the car is requesting more fuel, it would probably be a good idea to either get a new fuel pump or get an uprated one. We can all only guess what the issue is, get it on a dyno and have a full health check done.

    Hi Brad, I commented in the last video about the metal pd140 inlet manifold, I changed that and it reduced the stutter massively but it's actually in the mapping , the Siemens ecu has an Inbuilt boost limit and majority of generic mappers are unaware as they are just 10%ers who just resell on generic maps , Google KILNER PD170 STUTTER and read through all the posts Jamie kilner is the man for the pd170 as it's what he learned to map himself at home , not sure if he still does the mapping but it's worth asking him I can place money on the map requesting too much boost and the internal limit closing the manifold butterfly to stop the turbo over hitting the limit and then it reopens which then gives you the surge of power. Hope this helps mate I had these same issues with my old pd170

    • @BWTV
      @BWTV  Před 3 lety +1

      This would actually make sense and thank you so much for commenting again as a reminder. I'm gonna purchase the manifold now, but quick question, would it actually be dangerous to run the map like this without swirl flaps then?
      If it's a safety feature, and the safety "barrier" was no longer there, do you know if it could cause damage somewhere else?
      Thanks again for helping 👌

    • @leet7031
      @leet7031 Před 3 lety

      @@BWTV from what I've picked up is that the limiter is not there for protection it's just different to map around than on a Bosch ecu used in all other vag models , the reason the flap closes is to stop the turbo building up anymore boost pressure than what the limit is set in the ecu , the waste gate and n75 will control the boost and help smooth it out more say , when you remove the plastic inlet youl free up the air flow with the metal one which may resolve your issue see how you get on with that , been a fan from early on in your channel mate so if your having issues still il comment on the next video when you do the inlet swap 👍

    If you had no hesitation before getting the car mapped, I'd strongly suggest it's the map file... Don't go throwing lots of money at getting an in tank or tandem fuel pump when it's probably software related... Was the car custom mapped or was it a generic flash map file?

      Wooow I took it to 4k once when it was under temp. My engines now gonna blow up I guess!
      It takes a lot longer for coolant temp to rise due to the EGR cooler being removed. The engine can be running for 15 minutes in this cold climate and not reach 90.

    • @ZafiraSteve
      @ZafiraSteve Před 3 lety

      @@BWTV I'll try to explain. It's easy to say rather than type....
      Think of a diesel like a gate in a field. The field is full of cows. If you open the gate fully and let the cows out. They all get muddled up and bottle neck.
      Open the gate slowly and smoothly and let the cows out in a uniform fashion, they get out through the gate safely and faster....
      The map asks the ecu for more fuel(cows) than the gate(engine) can handle at WOT. Hence its the map. You'll find it will not do it if you increase the throttle pedal in a lineal manner. In fact, you'll find that the car picks up quicker.
      Try it. Let me know how you get on!
