I started MWC with my 5 year old a couple months back after seeing your reviews of the upper levels. We are LOVING it. He actually enjoys the lessons (as much as a 5 year old boy can that is 😊) and is picking up so much. Glad that you shared this curriculum with us because I had not heard of it previously!

I think K5 was very thorough. I'm extremely pleased with where he landed at the end of it. My daughter is actually in ABEKA 1, and I can see how rich it is in a variety of topics, (time, shapes, money, temperature, addition, subtraction calendar, measurements) making it the most balanced curriculum so far that I have used. We chose Masterbooks level 1 with her for kindergarten, and it did an excellent job laying the foundation for place value, so she easily moved into Abeka.
I chose to use Abeka with my son because after seeing his sister's work, he's picked it up really easily. I had hoped Abeka would be more rigorous.
My only reservation is that since he is newly 5, I don't want to overwhelm him with concepts that are too advanced. He pretty intuitively picked up time and money. As he progresses, however, I would like a guide that helps me explain the WHY behind the math.

We are using TGTB at the moment but we may switch my youngest to MWC!!! My grade 3 instructor guide I use on my phone!!! I love the tips to make it work, I think my kids in it!!! I prefer fewer things but for my youngest I need enough for her to understand math so I get creative!!! This lesson is tiny but awesome!!! TGTB math has a long lesson for me to read!!! MWC isn’t too gentle but uses a gentle approach to get kids to a deeper level!!!

Can you dona flip through of MWC level 1? My son finished his level K5 Abeka, and I wondered if MWC 1 would work in the interim to finish the school year?🤔

@rosalindareloj7928, how did you like Abeka k5? I'm halfway through MWC k and just bought Abeka k5 to hone on some skills. I really struggled with the amount of prep and repetitive activities. Maybe my teaching style is more mastery than spiral.
