    Honestly, after having ridden on and behind jets and owning wakeboats, I don’t see how anybody chooses a jet over a wakeboat if watersports is one of your main reasons for buying a boat. Even over an I/O the only valid reason to buy a “surf” jet, is if you want a better wake and the ability to surf and your waterways force you into a jet.

    Matt this video makes me real happy with the 2018 Tahoe 700 I bought recently. 6.2, captains call, extended platform and wake tower woth big stereo. Had 75 hours , got it for $35k. She runs 58 mph easy. Will try for a 60 mph run when I get more time in it. Long time boater but only had her to the lake 3 times this season.

    What About Regular I/O vs Wake Boat

  • @chrishackett554
    @chrishackett554 Před 2 měsíci +3

    The next war on boat owners is versus wake boaters. There are now lakes in the northeast that have started prohibiting wake boats or regulated specific zones for wake boats. The east coast are late comers to the wake boats craze since they’ve been around the west coast for many years.

    So in the video you were talking about the water coming from the jet boat into tubers face. Does the booster ball eliminate that? That's the biggest complaint I get. I usually try to get them to one side or the other but was just wondering if there's something else we could do

      They work great

    • @bks252
      @bks252 Před měsícem

      @@BoatBuyersSecretWeapon the water doesn’t hit the tubers. This guy is completely wrong. I have a 2018 Chaparral 223 VRS surf edition. It makes a great wake. It has 2 large ballast bags. The wake on it is great and doesn’t do what this guy is talking about. Mine has dual supercharged BRP engines. I’m not sure what jet boat exactly he’s referring to but he’s just not correct. Mine has all of the programmable cruise control. Me and my daughter have been surfing and tubing with this boat since we bought it. One more thing, the swim platform has what they call a wake shaper. Works great! He should research other than Yamaha jet drives.

      @bks252 On a Yamaha it certainly does.

    • @bks252
      @bks252 Před 29 dny

      @@ripler16 as I said, don’t know which jet boat he was talking about. Chaparral has a different type jet drives than the Yamaha does. You can steer mine going backwards easily. It also has a neutral position that you can adjust based on the wind or current so it stays in one spot. Only thing that happens in neutral is if the wheel isn’t pointing straight forward, the boat will spin in that direction. Dealer took me out and showed me all the nuances of it before I took delivery of it. I know this is way more than I was initially talking about but I wanted to give a highlight of some of the major differences in a Yamaha and Chaparral jet drives.

    Do the supercharged engines in jet boats only get around 300 hours of life?

    • @BoatBuyersSecretWeapon
      @BoatBuyersSecretWeapon  Před měsícem +2

      No, with proper maintenance, I'd say 1000 to 1500. Curious where you got 300?

    • @vervi1jw1
      @vervi1jw1 Před měsícem +1

      @BoatBuyersSecretWeapon when I was looking into supercharged jetskis a loy of resources noted how the engines only had around 300 hours of life before wearing out.

    • @BoatBuyersSecretWeapon
      @BoatBuyersSecretWeapon  Před měsícem +2

      Jet skis are a little different animal because they are run a lot less and a lot harder with more stress on the motor.

    • @DocSSavage
      @DocSSavage Před měsícem

      If you are over revving your jet boat that has jetski engines that will produce more wear on those engines. Can you provide link to Kyma Boats? The V8 on that will tend to have less stress on it.

    i don't know, all i can say with complete confidence is that i'm happy that i don't have to work on them anymore. i'll work on mercruiser and volvo / penta IO's but i refuse to do another gelcoat repair and or even one more oil change, not under any circumstances for any amount of money. this is the only good thing about coming up on retirement age, well, that and i dont ever have to take one ounce of shit from any service writer ever again. I quit a couple of years ago, they begged me to come back and these were the conditions. i should have quit 10 years ago.
