  • In this video, we are going to talk about Parametricism & Patrik Schumacher.
    What are the principles of parametricism?
    .
    Actually..., What is parametricism?
    .
    stay with us, we want to talk about parametricism from the look of Patrik Schumacher, company director, and senior designer at Zaha Hadid Architects.
    .
    In the past years, so many projects created under the label of parametric style, but are those really developed in a parametric way?
    .
    Patrik Schumacher believes that parametricism is the only epochal style after modernism and the other styles like post-modernism or deconstructivism were only transitional styles and they were the first reaction to the crisis of modernism.

    I would not say parametrism is a style but a tool. It has the power to leverage mathematical equations in creating architectural forms. But it can be applied in many ways, not always to look similar to ZHA projects. Just like nature creates infinite varieties of forms from a limited set of building blocks and processes, so can architecture.

    Well done summary of Parametricism 👏

    Parametricism is going to be a phenomena which will make our structures resembles that of Sci-Fi movies...It is best thing that is happening to design concepts. I can say that School of Parametricism is going to replace the School of Bauhaus. May be David Rutten with light saber(Grasshopper) is Darth Wadar (in positive connotation though) who will bring balance to the Force..Amen

    Even with the good explanation above, I still don't understand why parametric design need to be an "ism". I thought we always use parameter every time we build or design something. I understand that parametric design term today is more corelated with computer aided design, but I only understand it sensibly more as a tool rather than a style.

    This work looks like it was inspired by the 1960s TV show the Jetsons

    Architecture is the combining of scientific, cultural and spiritual movements that simultaneously create. Buildings that are void of these inspiring, soulful elements and principles are merely shelters.
    (I’m not yet certain, but it seems that Parametricism has a lot of waste and may eventually tire the eyes and mind)

    Tectonisim is another way of saying functionalisim, and is the only one of the previously mentioned that has potential.

    One should understand that architecture is not only about forms and images, but the corporal experience those provide to human beings. I think we shall get rid of -isms... Very shallow subject, in my opinion, this is almost an insult to architecture.

    • @dtso2
      @dtso2 Před 4 lety +3

      Your comment is empty, silly and pretentious, it shows that you have no knowledge of architecture theory or history. The "isms" that are so insulting to you are a series of avant-garde movements that in their approach have proposed new ways and solutions. If you are so interested in "the corporal experience provide to human beings" I suggest you go into a cave or better walk trough a Richard Serra installation (which is a fascinating experience).

    • @yazgidemirbas7008
      @yazgidemirbas7008 Před 4 lety +2

      Daniel Sadaba Watch your language champion! The « insult » is not to me personally but to architecture itself if you are capable of re-reading and understanding my comment which must have been clearly quite spicy that gave you some digestive problems. I propose you a proper reading of Peter Zumthor, Juhani Pallasmaa and Christian Norbelg-Schultz before making any opinion about experience and corporality on architecture. If there is one thing « snobbish » it is to put labels, movements and -isms on epochs and /or on to groups and architects. And believe me, some caves are better than some of Hadid’s buildings. After all, they were the first dwellings of Sapiens.

      @@yazgidemirbas7008 don´t champion me and don't act snowflake. I still believe your comment was snobbish and pretentious.

      @yazgidemirbas7008 Před 4 lety +2

      Daniel Sadaba I don’t know what kind of personal pain you are in based on my opinion against making architecture a trend based discipline, but it is ironic that someone claims that my comment was snobbish and pretentious while raining down insults and belittleings on me. It is clearly some self esteem issue that you might want to work on there.

      I agree with you Yazgi, I'm a huge fan of zaha, but patrik in my opinion seems to be just a smart guy trying to make money. zaha was a pioneer on her movement, and patrik was the one that had the knowledge to explore her ideas, so she was his opportunity to ascend on his career. and yes this videos seems to know nothing about architecture, I felt insulted also. LOL
