  • Enough is enough... Ralf (60+) knows that he suffers from cataracts. So far, putting up with glasses was going quite well. But a nighttime car ride during rainy weather - a key moment - where Ralf could no longer see anything at all was the actual trigger to start his journey for better vision and get cataract surgery done. He opted for a new enhanced monofocal intraocular lens: ACUNEX Quantum. And his expectations were 100% met.

Advantages of the ACUNEX Quantum for more vision:
*High patient satisfaction - more vision in the intermediate area
*Contrast vision comparable with a monofocal IOL
    *No reported undesirable side effects
*Stable refraction results - insensitive to decentring and tilt due to haptic design

I'm confused. Why is the patient still wearing glasses for this interview when he appears to be seated well within or even beyond an "intermediate distance" from the camera and interviewer?

@@lisar3944 dear lisar, intermediate area covers appr. 60cm-200cm, so it’s quite a range. The lens Ralf got implanted is an enhanced monofocal lens, which is optimized for far distances but gives better vision in the intermediate area than a standard lens, but doesn’t give freedom of glasses for this area. (Furthermore, Ralf is diagnosed with strabismus, so he will never be glass free).
Nevertheless, to better cover the intermediate area patients can chose so called comfort or Edof (extended depth of focus) lenses. These cover the intermediate area. For near distances, reading you would need a multifocal lens, which covers all distances.
if you like, we have more patient journeys here: www.teleon-patientinfo.com/en/experiences/
Ute got a multifocal IOL, Brian got an edof lens.
We hope this information is helpful.
