I recall telling my wife when I returned home (Pennsylvania) that all you could see on some of the homes were the chimneys, I was amazed. This is nothing new to this area, it isn't "global warming," it is nature doing its thing, and these people are rugged individuals.

This kind of snow used to be more of the norm when I lived in Tahoe, Truckee and a little town called Floriston (All in California). When I lived there in the 70’s and beyond, Used to park at the bottom of Floriston which is just off interstate 80. Then bring all of groceries up to the house using sleds! We shears had lots of snow that would be there until late spring. I’m glad to see the snow coming back! It’s beautiful but hard work! Keep your roof’s shoveled, propane tanks cleared and watch out for frozen water lines!

@@pats9414 Even on that mountain area there are so many of these roadways that are just tunnels through the snow. There are higher areas and low areas all this melting snow will fill all the low areas like lakes.
Worse is: low areas around homes will fill with water with not where to go but into the homes and condos. All this melting snow water has to have a place to go. All the creeks and streams are blocked with heavy snow and ice.
I am wishing and hoping for the best for everyone in the sierras this spring and summer heavy snow melt.
