I love the fact B is for Boat has been posting soo much!
I'm more interested in this than his other builds lol
Facts definitely feel like we got uploads a lot more frequently recently and that’s 🔥🔥🔥🔥
I agree
B for boat?
I like how Chris was like, The original engine's water pump was $2500, so we decided to go with the 15,000 Texas Speed engine
Yeah but water pump costs 1/6 of the entire engine cost. That's crazy value
considering a wp for a chev 350 is around $50 you can imagine how much the rest of that original engine would have cost. most diesel engines out of big trucks are over 35,000 i'd say 15,000 is pretty affordable.
And no parts to be found anywhere. So I think swapping the engine completely is a good deal long term
Texas Speed partially sponsored the motors IIRC so he probably paid little to nothing for them. Also, going off what others said, it becomes unfeasible to pay high prices for rare parts for engines that aren't produced anymore. You'll spend that 15k in a season easy on old hardware with no support. Especially on a boat that big. Labor isn't cheap either. My source is I literally do this for work, and I have for half a decade.
@@TheBigdaddyslimtimthats why they are called "boats", aka "Burn On Another Thousand"...
About a bazillion times more than it would have cost to do a little basic maintenance on the original engines before setting off at high speed for the 1st time and destroying perfectly good engines unnecessarily.
Yeeep
Exactly!!!! Run out of oil? Did it not have any before they left? You can get parts for 903's but it is difficult.
Thank you for these cost breakdowns. It helps put a lot of these projects in perspective, even with all the sponsored products you get.
This video just shows how much of a wizard Oscar is. Is there anything he can't do? 😂
He is too powerful 😂
O is for Oscar should be his channel name
wash the yacht's fridge
win the BIFB olympics
@@carlosarmiento926yeah! Should not of been Oscar cleaning the fridge!!!!!
Was all the labor free? If so, that’s a massive savings.
The v8 cummins (903) has a scant following among truckers, so you probably could have bought a running 903 powered semi for $10k or less, used the engine and sold the remainder. Of course, the Bradley fighting vehicle uses the 903, so surplus engines would have been available. Or re-powered with common Big cam 855 Cummins, or perhaps two Duramax diesels. The transmissions would not have been necessary.
Congrats to the whole team! I know this has been one of those ongoing projects but the best part is, you came out cancer free and the boat is back in the water under its own power. Awesome! ❤👊
Boating is a money pit with never ending spendings. But the time you spend on the water is priceless. Great great job !
Yeah, you can't go into boating (or RV's for that matter) thinking about getting your money back. It's a hobby/lifestyle, not an investment.
Smiles per hour
Literally throwing money into the water
I have a 20 foot wellcraft with a 150 yamaha. I spent $30 in engine parts over 2 seasons. It costs like $40 an hour running on plane in fuel and 2 stroke oil. Boat was 3k
BOAT - Bust Out Another Thousand
Can’t wait to see the interior refreshed, wanna see the fridge get cleaned out sorry Oscar
What an epic episode! All those projects - the nostalgia 😢
@Bisforbuild your probably going to want to look into getting some new propellers for that boat, the ones on it have their pitch set for the diesel engines you pulled out and as a result wont alllow you to take full advantage of the power curve of your new engines since their pitched for high torque and low RPM
Aye the boat has a lot ov tunning issues torque/ propeller/ rpm/ ballast, needs to go to boat tunning shop
@@johngibson3837 yep for sure
I love this project, it's different. Let's be honest most of the builds on this channel are different. When a build is started I'm ashamed to say some of the time I'm like there is no way this thing is going to get finished let alone look like what it's designed to look like. Then, i'm blown away by the finished product. Now 3 to 5 to 7, 8, 9 crazy builds later and I'm following a long the journey to the end because I know these things are going to be awesome! And they always are! Kudos to the problem solving and the determination to build these crazy projects. And most importantly, beating cancer. A lot of people aren't so lucky. F**k Cancer. Bravo guys, well done on another one. B is for Betting on yourself!
Well done team, I’ve really enjoyed this content. Here in New Zealand I am around boats a lot and these videos have really helped. Im so glad you have managed to fight off cancer. It’s so impressive to see how much work you got through against all these challenges. Keep going, keep inspiring people. I wish I was as talented as you and ma brother Oscar! Maybe I can get a boat like this one day… All the best for the next projects!
Absolutely Love you guys, I'm so happy your Cancer FREE !! I'm a Cancer survivor myself. I've followed you guys from start to finish on this project and I have to say, You Guys Rock. Oscar is amazing and where would you be without him. The guy can do anything. I just hope that after all this work you get to spend some good quality time on the boat and just enjoy your self. You guys certainly earned it. Good Luck with the rest of the project. MUCH , MUCH Love from Northern New Jersey !!!
My favorite project build on CZcams. Not a car fan but this boat series was the best ever. Thank you.
I would love to get some spec's later on. Top speed, crousing speed. Fuel consumption. Fun project!
As long as you are happy with it Chris it doesn't matter if you put a million dollars in the rebuild, the only thing that mallers is the smile it puts on your face because that is priceless! Something to smile about these days are few and far between!! But i still think you should have went with 2 dodge cummins 6 cylinder diesel engine or 2 ford powerstroke diesel engines for the torque and fuel mileage, i wonder what the cost would have been if you went that route?
Think a couple of Detroit's would've been good especially when you consider there duty cycle and how much they have been used in commercial fishing boats over the years
Awesome boat build... I want to see it go full throttle!!
The grim reaper came nocking and you said not today satan! You're a beast and I'm glad you are good brother. Ii did not realize those diesel engines cost that much. I thought replacing both engines would be way more.
Hells yes, the boat is back in town! Spotted it the other day in the marina... good on ya!
I love price breakdowns, thanks Chris. Also happy to see the boat on the water and everyone being able to enjoy it again...she's definitely a good lookin boat!
Chris: I loved the last vid in this series, the trip home. Absolutely superb 👍
Also like this cost breakdown, keeps it real.
Oscar is worth his own weight in gold.
I love all builds, I’ve been watching you guys pretty much from the start. Once this boat is completed, it’d be nice to see some update videos on some of the older builds. Love to see the updates Chris!
One of my absolute favorites I can't wait till the next one. Let's go oooo b is for boat everyone knows that
Not to mention you're a CZcamsr, so subtract the earnings from the boat video views, and there you go. You still have the experiences, the content, the memories, and the boat. You could sell it and be even at worst. I'll take that. 🤙🏾I can quite remember why you didn't throw 2 Cummins into it, but I loved this series. Can't go wrong with LS's.
17:28 makes the diesel look like a good deal 😂
I’m glad you stuck with it even through your hardships. Would be really interested to know what you earned from the boat CZcams videos and whether that covered the cost of the build.
Really enjoyed this series Chris and well done to you and the team for sticking with it through all the challenges. Looking forward to the finale and maybe in the future some videos of trips where the boat can repay you with some relaxation and enjoyment.
Holy shit. I’ve been watching for years (admittedly I do miss some episodes), but I had no idea about the cancer. I hate when bad things happen to good people, but I’m glad you’re cancer free at the moment. You made the right choice by traveling and not focusing on builds! It certainly puts things in perspective. Loved the video as always.
Epic project! Oscar is gem man. Guy can do anything!!
Lots of money but in the process you continued to make content and bolster this as one of the best channels on CZcams. And during that time you were vindicated on the whole Eleanor b.s. And you beat cancer during that time. All the life things that would break most people, you broke through. Good on you. What a journey. Thanks for your and your crew's dedication. Often when I'm trying a DIY project that I'm scared of, I think, "What would BIFB do?"
I’m excited for the interior upgrades as well as your next adventure’s on the boat! Hopefully you film at least a couple.
Crusaders are PCM engines, PCM is Pleasurecraft. Although Mercury does build LS motors, they tend to only do 7.0L racing LS7's for championship boats. PCM makes decent stuff but they're slowly disappearing it seems. (I've been a marine technician for about 4 years.) The 5.7 that mercury uses is not an LS block. Just free info for the crowd that cares to learn.
Been following from beginning of build, thanks for the breakdown. We had an 1947 40' Hunter Wooden Cruiser that had two HUGE 6 cylinder Gray Marine gas engines. We were considering swapping to diesel, but the boat sank, so solved that problem. Was really cool to see the LS engines in there, this yacht is really cool and thank you for documenting the build!
Love your boat. Take care of your health and keep doing what you do.
What an epic episode! All those projects - the nostalgia . What an epic episode! All those projects - the nostalgia .
It’s been a cool series so far. I love the look of that boat too. Worth every penny in my opinion.
This is the most likable creator I've ever watched! Love B is for Build!
I loved following this journey. Hoping for more boat episodes in future.
What matters is that it’s what you wanted in the end. I will say for reliability sakes I would ditch the dual throttle body intakes for something like a Holley high ram with a big single just to eliminate the extra bits that could cause running issues and please revisit putting mechanical raw water pumps on the engines, if this were a much smaller lake boat I’d say they would be okay but in blue water I could never trust them with out flow meters and having several extra waiting for one of them to eventually fail. But seriously this project has turned out way better than I though it would and I’m glad that you are happy with it no matter the cost.
Awesome outcome and above all we’re so glad you’re in remission now. Prayers for continued good health for you and Chelsea.
Awesome work, really stoked this project is getting done and not scrapped. 😎👍
Bloody impressive skills. Staying healthy = Priceless!
Exciting to see phase 2 when you do the interior!
awesome montage! so glad all worked out!
This was a lot of fun to watch, as a non boat person I learned quite a few interesting basics
I enjoyed the series. I have a boat myself and so this series clicked with me.
Definitely look into changing the propellers to ones that suit the engines
I am sure it is a relief to be cancer free above all else. And you're a fortunate man on top of that to be able to afford not only this project, but all the others and a staff at the same time. It's what the rest of us can only dream of.
Awesome as always. Thanks for sharing and taking us along
Live your best life @B! Thank you for taking us along for the ride! o7
I've really enjoyed this series. Given the cancer and Covid set backs, you completed a lot of work in a short period...especially the last couple months. I can't wait to see your interior upgrades and the final performance figures. That boat should haul a$$. Congratulations, you're almost across the finish line.
Thanks. Great work B is for build.
Including the exp plus b is for boat vid sales revenue id call it a win. Consider the team building and fun that came along the way man. That is priceless
Love the boat updates!
Thanks for sharing the cost breakdown. My favorite project on the channel 🙈
I so love this series! (something said many times by the net), and a sarcastic reply to the vast majority . Chris and his team are one of a kind, acknowledged.. Can you imagine those that would invest on something like this and die a quarter way through, if that? We have ALL judged Chris on the decisions to keep the project afloat. Determination and (let's be honest) a foresight on a return, gave us this entertainment. Good on you Chris. The sheer demeanor in your closings of the video is SO REAL. THAT, is why I enjoy this series. If it were me driving that thing home, seeing Chelsea on the bow going home, enjoying the timeout with my partner is what would have ligitimized the hurt and burden if it were me. At least a bit.. Chris, your willingness to make the jump on a project is something that a lot of us (including me) would like to experience but either just dont or cant. You have just done it so many times that I just can't stop watching. Thanks for ride.
Heck yeah it was worth it! What a story! Congrats on another completed build guys! Don't forget to enjoy it and celebrate 🤘🏼
Thanks Chris, I've enjoyed the boat journey.
It's the experience and the journey to get it done. Thank you for sharing. You guys rock🎉
Great series. The only reason I found your channel.
All your videos are not boring at all I love you Chris I wish you the best❤
I’m loving these boat videos maaaaan 😂
I think the best result here is that Chris battled cancer and is winning ,for that alone i am truly thankful. Remarkable story Remarkable man .
Love a boat build, only thing I watch on your channel (sorry, fix cars everyday, so intrested in more) been here from the start of boat, great to see it done and going, enjoy it!
Well done from the UK. Been with you almost from day one, on I think the finishing of the 1st build. Still with you and love your channel.
It sounds like the old phrase that there is nothing more expensive than a cheap Mercedes now has a contender - there is no boat more expensive than a cheap Italian yacht. :-) Great video!! I have a couple of 1987 Mercedes and if I wasn't the mechanic, I could not afford them.
I’m so glad You got it back in the water and it looks good!!!!
Insane that this all started 3 years ago. As a viewer it feels like it wasn't all that long ago.
Glad you beat the cancer!
I said it on the very first boat episode, "you have yourself a money pit."
What a journey! Love you guys!
Well broken down! Thanks. And not nearly as bad as I had thought it was. They say a boat is a hole in the water that you throw money into… and I don’t think you’re doing too badly on that front… all things considered. Bravo.
Can’t wait to see the interior restoration!
Congratulations on another great build!💪
This has been such an awesome story to follow! For some reason boats interest me, all ways have. I cant help but think back through the years! I've gotten a new job, got married and am having child all in the span of this series. I might just be high though...
Awesome video! Always love your stuff.
I pray that your healing and for complete remission
Great video.I found your channel recently and have enjoyed it very much.I hope you make many more.
Loved that i tuned in to the B is for boat episode really enjoyed it!! The end result id say it was worth it!!
Can’t believe it was 3 years ago! I’ve been watching you for too long.
Bro you and Oscar are wizards! Great job you two! 🎉
I'm glad your healthy and back to the grind it's been good to see you moving forward 🎉 the boat looks good tho and the engines are gas guzzlers lol wonder what the previous engine were compared to them 😮
Just amazing work guys absolutely stunning 🤩
Definitely worth it as it’s a gorgeous boat! ❤
Great video really enjoy this very much been watching every episode
You guys are MVPs
Don't even have a boat and live in the desert, but this build was addictive!
I love the boat content, regardless of how long it took. PEACE!
Should have done a price breakdown of how much a diesel engine rebuild would have been, I think that would be more convincing lo l
Such inspiration. I’m a week into taking 3 weeks off to get our Alberg 30 running.
Great project, love it PPEACE ❤
Money well spent. You gained experience and viewership. I learned a lot from your videos. Thank you.
Looking forward to seeing it all back together again. Hopefully next summer you can really enjoy it more 🙏🖒👊🍻
I can’t wait to see the final product, and I’m even more eager to see future products.
Lots of love from Australia mate. I'm happy about your cancer outcome.
Call me crazy, but i think this boat should be gifted to oscar. That man is a machine and put tons and tons of work into this boat lol
Hey glad you mad it back. I have a boat at Tidewater Cove Marina in Vancouver full time. Boat all over from the dam to ocean and Portland. Get that guy out of your slip😮. Been watching you for years. Good stuff❤
Congrats - I don't know your weather situation where you are, but hopefully you get some nice weather to enjoy it before winter arrives. Also get a few other people to have the marine tickets so they can drive and you can enjkoy a drink or two while out and about.
I love watching this channel
Your momentum...rate of progress...and accomplishments..ARE TRULY OUTSTANDING..!...
The cost of your enterprise is OUTSTANDING as well...
Oh my...
