  • After multiple rebuilding seasons with young, highly rated prospects, the Lakers signed superstar LeBron James in 2018. In 2019, the team traded several of those prospects for star big man Anthony Davis. The Lakers-led by James, Davis, and head coach Frank Vogel-won the team's 17th championship in 2020. However, the Lakers currently face a collapse due to team's defense, chemistry, roster shuffling, coaching and injuries.

    Like I been telling people all year they did not need to trade for Westbrook, the Lakers had a championship team last year when they were healthy. 21-6 before the injuries they would’ve easily been the number 1 or 2 seed last year and probably be back to back championship. Westbrook to the Lakers made 0 sense.

    It’s crazy to me looking back at the Play-In Tournament vs The Warriors to see how similar the paths for both teams were and what it eventually led to.
    The Lakers were fresh off the 2020 Championship and looked poised for another championship run. The started off hot but slowly fell apart thanks to injuries. They soon looked like they would possibly miss the playoffs.
    The Warriors however were the opposite. Fresh off their terrible 2020 season, nobody picked them to even reached playoffs. Yet Curry practically willed this team to keep winning and very much could have been higher seeded had Curry not been injured for most of the season.
    Now in 2022, the Warriors regained their Elite status again and won the 2022 Finals while the Lakers struggled and missed the playoffs.

  • @prominentsurge3205
    @prominentsurge3205 Před 2 lety +19

    Im a Lakers fan… but they got humbled this year. They believed that with AD and Bron they can win anything. They were horribly wrong. They won in 2020 because of their defensive team that got stops, steals and ran out in transition, with the right defensive tactic coach. Even last year they were Number 1 in defense despite Bron and AD missing a lot of games due to that defensive core.
    This year they panicked because of random injuries to their stars and gutted a great defensive minded core for star offensive power and gave that to a defensive coach. That is beyond arrogance from the front office to really believe you can win anything with Bron and AD, now look how bad they are overall because they can’t mesh offensively nor defensively.
    Some people are getting fired this off-season.

    You can't tell me that leaving Cleveland twice, leaving Miami, and the leaving LA, which he will do. Doesn't impact his legacy.
    He said he wanted to work with the young guys, traded them immediately
    Brought in the human bandaid, won a ring and now has had 2 bad years in a row. They might not even make the playoffs this year. He'll play with them next year then he'll leave. Potentially going 1 and 5 in his 5 years. That's a goat? Lol NAH

      @@Sally-uu3yt but Kobe and Jordan didn't trade away their team every single year and leave for somewhere else when shit didn't go well. This is what Lebron wanted, he didn't wanna play with Wade and Bosh anymore, he left them, he didn't wanna play with Wiggins so he traded him, traded a pick and IT to get him out of Cleveland, brought in Wade and traded him, brought in Rose and traded him, played with all the young guys in LA, traded them, sign vet minimum guys every year and when they don't work out they release em or trade em. Brought in Russ, gonna trade him.
      Kobe and Jordan never did this shit. I'm fine if a dude has a bad year, it happens, but I GUARANTEE aside from AD. No player on this lakers team will be back next year, he'll move them all

    • @johnhachey9239
      @johnhachey9239 Před 2 lety +12

      @@BWalker9313 Player movement is good for the league. Kobe was going to force himself out of the Lakers in 07 after many losing seasons before they made a major move for Gasol, then started winning. They also got Dwight and Nash which failed miserably (a lot like the Lakers now). Then Kobe got injured and that was a wrap.
      Jordan requested Rodman after losing to the Magic, but overall had a way better team built around him year in year out so he didn't have to move around. He benefited from retiring because he came back refreshed with an entirely new great roster from a previous great roster. Plus he retired since they were planning on getting rid of Phil Jackson.
      Also we have to consider that it was stigmatized to not be loyal to teams, even though time and time again we've seen teams flip loyal players on a dime (D.Rose, Demar Derozan, etc)
      Star players don't have to stay on losing franchises when they have free agency, they don't have to keep bum rosters when they think they could be better. The only thing players should be criticized for, which Lebron has never done, is quit on their team, sit out, and force their way out of a situation if it's uncalled for.

      Of all those choices, LeBron joining the heat is the only move I'd say has any argument of impact on his legacy. The move itself did influence the league, but at the same time, the Cavs offered him no help to win a championship, and even then he got to the finals with a ragtag cast team. As a player, I don't really think the Miami signing affects his legacy. The affect it had on the league was way more impactful

      Mostly agree. LeBron is still very productive for his age, but they aren't capitalizing off of it because there aren't enough young players to hustle where LeBron can't. Obviously he's not gonna defend like he could at 25. Adding even more veteran players just puts more pressure on bron which I think jeopardizes the whole idea of building around him. It's a fragile ecosystem in that sense

    What a lot of people (Lakers fan mainly) don't understand is when they signed Bron at 33 going on 34 they had a minimal window to get rings with the core of Bron and AD. AD barley played in 2018-19 season so he came into the season fresh and Bron missed the playoffs he's last game played was in what early April 2019. Also, most I don't hear a lot of people talking about how weak the West was in 2020. The only challengers were the Clippers & Bucks and MAYBE the Nuggets and Bron and AD got 4 months off to get ready for the playoff run. Lakers management and LeBron's request to trade for Russ hurt this Lakers era badly
    The year after the championship they went 21-6 2nd in the West before the injures hit so they fell to the 7th seed they didn't need to trade for Russ at all they were fine. Hopefully I can witness Bron get one more ring before he bows out but it's not looking like it.

    Lakers need younger, better shooters, rebounders, and defenders.
    Lakers had the oldest roster in the history of the NBA. Many of the players on the roster are way past their prime and are too slow to play defense and will not improve with age. Who among these old timers could improve beyond below average defenders: Ariza, Augustin, Bazemore, Ellington, Howard, Melo, LeBron, Westbrook?
