- Dead Space Remake vs Resident Evil 4 Remake - reviewed on PC
Well damn, some of you seemed to really enjoy my Resident Evil 4 remake review, and had loads of comments as to whether the Dead Space remake we got earlier in the year was better than Resident Evil 4 that’s just released, and well.. Seeing as so many of you provided your comments and thoughts, I thought I might not only provide my opinion, but also where maybe Dead Space might be preferred over Resident Evil, and where Resident Evil still remains the master of Survival Horror.
#deadspace2023 #residentevil4remake #gaming - Hry
I liked both games but I think I prefer resident evil 4, anyway I enjoyed them both and I loved them.
Resident Evil 4 looks terrible.
@@qwanathomas735 not even true, irrelevant, and also dead space launched on pc with the dookiest visual bugs and performance I’ve ever seen
@@AssClapCowboy You must be used to looking at trash if you think RE4 isn't a mess.
RE4 is superior in every facet. The originals and remakes.
@@qwanathomas735 which game has the higher metacritic?
They’re both amazing. There’s no winner in my book. Just incredible games.
Can't argue there my dude
@@DudiReviews re4 was never my fav re game. Its not even scary just an action thriller. the early games were genuinely frickin scary creepy and so was Dead space. i see re4 as the beginning of the downfall for RE. the games that came after it were mostly garbage. Dead space has much less titles with only one bump in the road. Dead Space wins it here.
Fair opinion mate
My favorite small detail is in dead space after Isaac comes back inside from a space walk his suit is frozen at first for obvious reasons lol but if u wait and watch his suit thaws becoming wet and having a shine to it from the water then it drys from the interior atmosphere and temperature... It blew me away when I first realized what was happening. I legit thought i had horrible texture delay at first 😂🤦♂️
Its wicked when there's that level of detail!
leon gets cold in the freezer on the island
Also Isaac Clarkes voice actor gunner wright literally voiced all of Isaac Clarkes lines twice one for him at full hop and the other when he’s low hp
The game is full of small great details....like, i just spammed the kick button at a necromorph cause i ran out of ammo, and Clarke would just curse at the enemy like he is super mad, something it doesn't happen when you just kick it once.
Both originals had a HUGE impact on my childhood and the remakes were nothing short of incredible.
Right on my dude
I felt disappointed by the Dead Space remake. Original did many things better than the remake still.
@@Devin7Eleven I love that they gave Isaac a personality and I miss Peter Mensah from the original game. I feel like the original cast had a lot more personality and brought much more soul to their characters.
@@Devin7Eleven I never played the OG Dead Space because I didn't get next-gen consoles until 2009 and by then I had become entrenched in Assassin's Creed. So, playing the remake right now, I think it's great and tons of fun. I like that there are virtually no loading screens in this game, which makes my immersion dial up to 100.
RE4 is more fun but Dead Space is actually scary and had me at the edge of my seat. The zombies in RE4, even when they sneak up on me, didn't scare me because it felt like a product of the action elements of the game because I usually had to be completely overwhelmed in order for that to happen.
Also, the sound and graphical superiority isn't something that should be easily dismissed. RE4 looked like a PS5 game for the first 30mins, but I felt the game graphically felt like a PS4.5 game once you leave the village with the castle and island having lots of low res textures and weak lighting. Dead Space looks like an actual PS5 game from start to finish and the sound design is half the reason it's so scary.
Fair point mate.
Re4 kind of felt boring
You know I feel like remake 4 probably is 100% PS4/Xboxone level graphics for the most part, and is that maybe due to limitations of the engine?
I wish they would stop making last gen games.
@@jakedizzle
I agree. We have seen it time and time again. Until they stop it, you will not be seeing games that max out the sytem's capabilities.
Finished the RE4 remake last week and it was fantastic.
After that I decided to buy the Dead Space remake and playing it as we speak...
And guess what:
Its also fantastic.
These 2 games combined with the Metroid Prime Remaster has shown early 2023 has been a great time for remakes and fans of the original classics.
Exactly my dude
I get to be excited for May too with the system shock remake. I can play 2 just fine but the original is hard to get into if you didn't grow up playing those types of games. This year is great for sci-fi horror games
These two games are incredible..I love both. One thing I love about dead space is the complete lack of a HUD and how your suit and guns convey your health and ammo.
Both Remakes are great so you can't go wrong with either really. I guess it really comes to preference. I love Dead Space RE for it's very spooky dreaded atmosphere, badass weapons, creative enemies even in groups that can scare/ambush you, redone sections for the better and combat is fantastic as ever with more refinement to some systems.. RE4 RE has phenomenal combat & I daresay it's a bit more engaging. A more refined darker story, characters for the most part are written well and the pacing is absolutely impeccable. Bosses are better here too imo.. I grew up with both games so I love both equally..
Well said my dude, glad you enjoyed both remakes!
The worst part of the dead space remake is that there's zero downtime. Due to the AI director you can get jumped anywhere. Re4 remake at least has some chill between it's big battles. But I think dead space stays more true to the original. Best part of RE4 was it's over the top campiness with dragon statues and ski lift shooting. Re4 remake lost a lot of that.
@@jwilliam6743 Dead Space remake drifted heavily from the original in many areas. Characters, story, atmosphere, etc. original was better because it felt more ominous
@@Devin7Eleven Structure wise, I agree with you. Both games change levels considerably. Tone wise, I would argue Dead space is more true to the original. Re4 remake is much more horror focused this time around with less ammo and tankier enemies.
This was insanely well done, took me a solid brick to even figure out you had 1K subs. Quality content, crisp mic, Good cutaways/memes, best of all that script is flawless.. My man I’m here before 100k. :D
Ah cheers for the kind words mate! Really appreciate it my dude! Hope there's other videos you enjoy
@@DudiReviews Dude I peeped some of your older stuff and your quality editing and scripts are far underrated man, I ended up getting you in my FY page, Ngl I was kind of thinking of getting into commentary/reviewing eventually. Bravo sir I’ll be most likely binging your content lmfao
@@uh0p oh cheers man! I tend to put memes in all of my videos to try get a giggle (helps if it's a bad game or bad video too)
Deadspace is scarier in my opinion and leaves you more "exhausted". Hallways, dark areas...
@@SomeoneIsAlwaysMovingOnTheSurf Deadspace is way more survival horror, But man I did enjoy re4 remake a lot more in terms of combat and fun.
I think what both remakes bring to the table over their originals cannot be understated enough. How they improved the Ishimura for example, turning it from a linear level design with loading screens and no back tracking, to a huge singular level with no loading screens and the ability to travel everywhere and backtrack is insane. Likewise with what CAPCOM did with RE4R, and for example expanding the entire lake region among a hundred other awesome improvements.
I like both but I prefer RE4, it kindof has it all for me. It’s scary when it needs to be scary, it’s over the top when it needs to be over the top, it makes you feel badass when you need to be badass. Also the 3 settings of the village, castle, and Island are all so unique and add alot of setting and enemy variety with all three areas having their own feel.
Well said my dude! And can't agree more with the setting
Dead Space for me all day. The Ishimura is the most memorable game setting of all time with maybe the exception of Skyrim. Also Dead Space had better characters, puzzles, combat, and story.
I have to go with Dead Space because I prefer that Kind of story and the weapons. The gore is unbelievable the way flesh rips from the bone. Such a great game.
Same. Dead space is a goty contender
They are different games. I like both. Resident evil 4 has grown on me and now I like it for what it is. DS had me grinning from ear to ear.
I LOVED RE2 remake.
So in what order would you rank them?
I mean considering one inspired the other, I don’t necessarily agree.
@@tyronecriss23 Same here. Re 4 is more fun too. Which is what interests me most in video games.
i am hesitating between these two remakes as well as a HD version of the OG RE4 just one choice to economize money
re4 just has insane replayability. it's def' goty so far.
Re4 Classic and Remake is not scary for me still love it. But Dead Space trilogy and Remake was scary and intense.
Fair enough mate
I like both of them but I really enjoy the vibe of RE4 a lot more. Dead Space gets a little too dark/scary at times.
Even when RE4 starts to get scary usually Leon will bust out some corny one liner to lighten up the vibe.
Well they’re pretty different vibes so yeah I agree
That's fair my dude
@@bd974k it’s the true survival horror experience
Great video all around. Your point about the sound design on Isaac during battles and combat was really well made, made me really reflect on how much that aspect really made a difference in the immersion and feel of the frantic and distressing feeling of every encounter. Fantastic video! You definitely deserve more views and subs. Subbed and going to check out more of your content.
Oh cheers mate really appreciate the kind words! Hopefully there's other videos you enjoy and some memes that provide a laugh or two
@@DudiReviews I’m sure I will man! Keep up the great work!
Cheers mate!
Dead Space has some music in certain areas that make the immersion to the Ishimura. Not just the scary music, sometimes you walk through hallways and these gorgeous outer space tracks come on. I'm gonna send a link under my comment and give the timer to the video if anyone wants to hear an example. I'm a bigger fan of Resident Evil(my channel shows that), but Dead Space Remake is put together so perfect and I feel it deserves the point for music too. Here's the link:
czcams.com/video/5i8ycugZ5fs/video.html
Fast forward to 50:30 minutes, walking through the Tram Station and hear how the music becomes wonderful while exploring the ship in a smooth area. It's tough to realize Dead Space has songs like this, but they do(in various parts). But RE4 is more fun of a game if ppl want to shoot allot.
It goes down like this: DS remake is a much better survival horror game, and remake 4 is a better action game with horror elements. I prefer survival horror games though, so I prefer DS remake.
Although I will also say that DS remake feels like the more polished and superior experience, especially with the difficulty settings, as remake did not have the best balancing on the higher difficulties I felt like. Maybe it is just me, but it feels like the other difficulties werent necessarily set up to work with fresh playthroughs in mind. It can be done, but it will be tedious. In DS remake, it is a matter of skill, and things will rarely go wrong due to a bullshit issue.
@desfefe I agree, I'm playing RE4 Hardcore Mode and it feels like they have HP. I do understand that the guns upgrade n all, but the bullet sponge issue makes me furious. Even REVillage on it's hardest mode is just too many bullets to kill a boss etc.
Two things I want to address that you left out. For one, unlike RE4 remake, when you Backtrack through the Corridors of the Ishimura in Dead Space remake, it's never clear when you're going to encounter Necromorphs. This ain't like the original Dead Space where the encounters are scripted. Some of them are in the remake. But each time you Backtrack through Medical or the Flight deck, Mining and Engineering deck too, they happen at random. Sometimes you can reload your save only for it not to happen. Other times it just happens when you least expect it. It'd be true what you said if it was the original. Thing is it's not the original. It's a remake of the original. But it's level of progression is different. It does a good job keeping you on your toes. You know not to let your guard down. So in that regard, it works well. Also you can skip the Village part either by going to the farm in the next area or just shooting the bell. That first Village encounter can be bypassed. The second thing is unlike RE4 remake, you can Backtrack throughout the Ishimura. This ain't the original where it was linear. You can backtrack each area and find highest level security clearance doors. There's some backtracking in RE4 remake. But like the original, once you reach the castle or the Island, there's no backtracking to those areas. So if you missed some important errands from the merchant or treasure, Better luck on your next playthrough. Dead Space remake again let's go back to areas previously explored. It's built around it. So yeah. That's what I wanted to point out. I like your video nonetheless. Maybe do a video on MGS original vs It's inferior remake MGS Twin Snakes.
Good points my dude! A MGS one could be fun, thanks for the idea mate!
You can’t bypass the village encounter on your first play through. You need a scope/rifle to hit the bell which you can’t get until your second playthrough. you can’t get to the farm until the bell is rung as the gate is locked (I’ve tried this bad definitely can’t).
You can’t bypass the village, in your first playthrough only in new game plus
@@Blinkx47 I know. Blake just told me.
From what I understand the Dead Space remake uses a horror Director AI that adjusts things based on how you’re playing. If you’re clearly apprehensive, or scared, or walking slowly with gun drawn, the AI director will purposefully freak you out with weird noises and sounds and fake outs. Where as if you’re running and gunning like a Chad, the AI director will spawn enemies to slow you down. Its pretty clever
I love both too, but RE4 Remake has a bit more to offer in terms of enemies variety, modes, environment...
Yeah fair point my dude
Re4 is more fun to me but dead space remake basically outdoes the original which is the ultimate goal of all remakes.
Just enjoy both everyone. I play them both, enjoyed them both ☺️ I can see why people prefer both.
Well said my dude!
Yeah I played the hell out of both when I was younger, and now I'm playing the hell out of both remakes !!! Takes me back in the day.
If you pay attention after Issac runs, you can hear his heart pounding. Little things like that make a gale for mw.
Yeah exactly my dude
These are 2 of my favorite survival horror games and maybe just 2 of my favorite games overall so I am super stoked on both. I am so happy they did justice to them in the remakes. I love the games for different reasons and both remakes completely redefine the original experience with updated presentations and mechanics. I would have to say I rate Dead Space higher simply because I am a huge fan of sci-fi horror/cosmic horror, and I just love the atmosphere of the Ishimura. The intensity director is also terrifying and a great new feature. At this point I have beaten the game several times and on the highest difficulty, and I am still excited when I start over. That being said, I believe the RE4 remake provides more rewards on multiple playthroughs and ofc there is the addition of the mercs mode that will keep fans coming back for more. RE4 is quite a bit longer too with its 3 main sections so there is just more game to play. All in all both are incredible and anyone who was a fan of the originals should be in heaven rn. It would be awesome if we get a DS2 remake now or possibly some sort of DLC until they figure out what direction they want to go with the franchise. At the very least I think we can all agree that survival horror is still very much alive and that gamers want more from our favorite franchises.
Well said my dude
I didn’t even finish Dead Space remake, it was so scary even after you learn all the glitches. Resident Evil 4 on the other hand was on the fun side, finished it several times
From someone who didn't play the either original I can say both are very enjoyable. I see DS as more horror where RE4 is a mix of horror early game and ramps up action as you progress. DS I literally paused a dozen times because I was freaked out from just the sounds. RE4 I felt as i progressed I had more control of my encounters. DS you are at the mercy of exploring to find weapons that help give more confidence.
Absolutely agree with you my dude! Glad you've been enjoying both games mate!
Imagine not playing the og games smh sad
@punished hek yeah was kinda hard being homeless.
This is really just a matter of personal preference if you never played a Resident Evil game or a Dead Space game the best way to pick between these two would be to flip a coin and assign one side to Resident Evil 4 and the other to Dead Space. I'd recommend that if you have the money too and you're interested in both games just buy both of them and form your opinion like they're two drastically different games that try to do two different things.
Well said my dude!
I just got Dead Space. It’s an awesome game, I like the similarities to Resident Evil, but it also reminds me of Doom. The Necromorphs popping up randomly have scared me once or twice. I like the atmosphere of the Ishimura and the science fiction tone of the game in general although I think Resident Evil 4 is much cinematic in its set pieces. Gameplay wise, Dead Space is a lot of fun, more so than The Callisto Protocol (although that one isn’t awful, just overly reliant on melee) but I think Resident Evil 4 is more fun to play. I like that you can backtrack and have to as part of the story. Also, unlike RE4R, when you end chapters in Dead Space, it’s a seamless transition to the next one with no chapter screen at the end. Inventory management and the Merchant are superior to Dead Space’s built in store, though. Overall, I think they’re both great games, especially if you’re a survival horror fan.
You basically play both games for different reasons. RE4R was so good and fun with the new knife mechanics, while DSR kept me on edge of my seat all time.
I totally get why you like Dead Space more, it is a great game and one of my favorite horror games. But man I love RE4, that game was my whole middle school age experience when it came to video games, and the remake is so good at making me feel the way I did when I played the original in the fifth grade way back in 05. I don't know how they did it, they changed so much of the game but somehow it feels exactly like booting up og RE4 on the gamecube... I can't get enough of it. In my opinion, RE4 remake might be the best remake ever made. It's longer, better, and badder than the original, and the original is one my top ten games already.
Dude absolutely love that you're re-experiencing RE4 and it's bringing back those first memories with the original mate! They're both great games and it comes down to personal taste and preference. Did a RE4 review last week and loved the game, makes me want to check out the OG release. Cheers for your thoughts/comments man
That’s how I feel about dead space 🙏🏼
Dead space remake is better
I think both RE4R and DSR are both amazing Remakes, not perfect nor terrible just pretty amazing.
Can't argue there mate
i do genuinely think DSR is perfect remake
I played both and just finished re4 remake yesterday and it’s the best action horror game I ever played
right on my dude glad you enjoyed it!
This video is very entertaining! ❤ Thank you for the content sir. Resident Evil 4 2005 is my favorite game of all time!
Cheers for the kind words my dude! How are you finding the RE4 remake?
@@DudiReviews I haven't played it yet because of my financial situation but based on the gameplay im watching, i think it respects the original so much and holds up on its own 💚 Cheers!
I never played neither original games. I beat RE4 remake and enjoyed it too much, best game I played since tlou part II. Freaking brilliant.
glad you enjoyed the remake my dude!
I wish he mentioned the peeling system of Dead Space. The force gun is not just a shotgun. The necromorphs have layers of skin and muscle you have to get through to finally snap the bone and sever the arm. Weapons like the force gun and flame thrower are great at eliminating those outer layers to allow you a nice clean cut.
I feel like, between the success of Dead Space Remake AND the RE4 Remake, we will most definitely either get Dead Space 2 Remake or a #4, the boom of survival horror-action games with Dead Space still being in top 10s on sales charts and RE4 selling 4 million copies
Fingers crossed my dude!
They are both top notch remakes that raise the bar for remakes. But I think re4r is one of the best remakes ever made. It goes out of its way to try to improve upon the original while staying faithful to its roots and it nails it. Anything that was cut felt like the right decision, considering they were going for a more serious tone. I think it's a improvement because it better fits with the horror roots of resident evil its not always scary but the tone is more in line with the rest of the series now. The gameplay is also a big improvement to I liked the knife mechanic alot more then I thought I would. Love how the game has physics in it and it's not some static world like most triple a games it's so fun. The game is so immersive time flies right by I have not played a game this good in a very long time. Considering the original was already a masterpiece Capcom really hit it out of the park. The dead space remake does a lot to improve the game to like by making the by making the ship a open world basically rather then linear, adding side quests, voice acting for Isaac, gameplay improvements, etc. But I've always kind of felt re4 is a better game and the fact remains with the remake. They are both masterpieces in their own right but I think re4 just has a few more things it does better and it just feels like a more ambitious remake. Dead space was inspired by re4 after all. With gaming how it is rn I honestly wouldn't mind more remakes like these because at this point the game industry is creatively bankrupt but the remakes are phenomenal.
Fair opinion my dude - agree that both games are masterpieces mate
I like both. Re4 is simply better cause it’s Re4, wether it’s a better remake or not does really matter to me.
Remake 4 reimagined to much, but Dead Space tried to connect to 2 and 3 by making Issac Clark a character, unlike how he was a “self insert”-ish in original DS1.
If we talk about 1:1 recreations we should see Bluepoint.
Shadow of the Colossus was perhaps the greatest remake of all time.
The real winner are the gamers. Two amazing remakes.
Not wrong there my dude
Both were incredible to experience. I’d never played either original. I’d go Dead Space because I felt it was more consistently fear-inducing
Aiming in Dead Space felt so fiddly, the look and aiming camera sensitivity were locked together so it was hard for me to play. RE4 let's you have the aim sensitivity much lower then when looking around, which already made the game so much better to play for me
I think RE4 takes the cake for me personally. I fucking love dead space but there was something about it that I couldn't quite put my finger on as to why I wasn't over the moon about it. I think the pacing was a bit slow, the director system didn't really change much and also the side quests weren't that interesting to me. RE4 remake suffers from pretty lame quests too but I love how they've redone entire sections that feel like the OG but new and also taken out the stuff that felt out of place in the OG. It makes for a much better paced game and the combat mechanics are much tighter now. Dead space felt more like a texture and dialogue update than a full remake.
Can't argue there my dude!
RE4 for sure. One factor you left out is the characters and dialogue. The way that Leon and Ashley, Luis and Ada play off each other is so well done. The game is like that too. Sometimes dark and scary, other times it is campy and funny. I mean Ramon Salazar is so over the top, you gotta love him! So the game plays out like an adventurous graphic novel. Replayability is off the chart.
Right on my dude! Glad you loved your time with RE4
When it comes to dead space. Love the immersion, the atmosphere, the increasing of space mechanics, and the dynamic dialog (damage changing Isaac's tone). When it comes to RE4R. I love the new mechanics around the knife and Ashley. I loved that the enemies got updated, love the new krauser fight, and mercenaries is great. I recommend both for slightly different reasons. Hope Silent Hill 2 remake can keep the standard they have going on.
Exactly my dude can't go wrong with both
Great video man!!!! I was wondering which one some people thought was better.I figured it was probably a close tie…
Cheers mate! Yeah was a hard decision but it all comes down to personal preference
I think replayability is where re4 shines. I finished re4 and immediately started a NG+.. I finished dead space and haven’t picked it up since.
From a time sense I played 10 hours of dead space and that’s been enough. I’ve done a 16 hour run, a 10 hour run on ng+ higher difficulty and a 5 hour speed run of re4 and I still am keen on picking it up once again to try to get all weapons.
Both good games but re4 was much more enjoyable IMO
And they also added mercenaries mode which is an excellent addition. You can even earn the hand cannon without having to do fresh playthrough on professional.
Literally flip a coin, you can’t lose! Both are great! I prefer RE4 personally, but it doesn’t take away from Dead Space.
Exactly my dude!
My main gripe with the remake of Dead Space is how easy the game was as necromorphs are both slower and weaker than the og ones; where in the original they would sprint at you and take half your health in the remake they barely run or deal any damage when they actually hit and this problem bleeds into the experience as a whole: suddenly instead of feeling under threat or tense I feel just bored because despite the weapons and other options you have at your disposal to try and strategically take your enemies out your are never encouraged to do so, as anything you do will work. I used to play a lot of Dead Space even before the remake and I'm not the biggest fan of the original but in this remake the gameplay itself is both extremely fun and challenging, so despite the enemies or the enviroment being less conceptually scary I'm way more invested and actually feel like under threat. In terms of tone, story and general feel I still prefer Dead Space but with the remake dropping the ball so hard on gameplay I can't have the same amount of enjoyment I'm having with RE4.
I dont know if I can agree with that mate. I pumped up the difficulty on DS, and I felt as tense as with the OG. If anything it felt exactly the same.
There's no comparison .... I played the original Dead Space once and never again, Resident Evil 4 I've played on The Gamecube, PS2, WI, PS3, PS4 & PC and just recently I played the incredible VR remaster on the Oculus Quest 2 (I actually played it 3 times in a row to completion in VR and I intend to do so again shortly)
I can't wait to play the Remake in VR on the PSVR 2
I’m just gonna go ahead and say what everyone says to an underrated gem of a channel they’ve just discovered, how do you not have more subs?! All jokes aside, your quality is top tier. 👌
Thanks my dude really appreciate it! Hope you enjoy my current and future videos as much as I enjoyed reading this mate
I think there are a lot of shills in the comments. Factually, I believe the Dead Space Remake is better because they didn't cut content. They also expanded on the story and filled in the story gaps the original had. The RE4 Remake just slightly switched some things around, cut content, and didn't really revolutionize anything. The biggest thing of all is the horror atmosphere. Which DS Remake is much more consistent in. That is the biggest factor in my book. Even the intensity director is a great addition that will never have you sitting idle. Basically, you can't ever be comfortable playing that game cause it will throw something at you constantly.
Me seeing the video title:
"Feeling bold today, are we?"
I think what gives RE4 Remake the edge for me is that it's getting ported onto the PSVR2.
Oh that's a good point my dude
Event horizon is a great movie! haha! Great video! I love both games. Went through ds 4 times and currently on my 2nd play through of re4. The ds hardest setting is 1 life. So it has the hardest setting between the 2. Professional in re4 with a fresh play through no infinite ammo is gonna be diabolical tho so challenge wise if you like getting achievements/ trophies it's damn close. I have 1 left in ds and still 10 or so in re4. Great games. I basically played these games back to back. It's been a blast. I can't say which one I like better need to play more re4. It's so close tho, both games are 10s to me.
haha 100% agree my dude! both with Event Horizon being a great movie, and both games being basically a 10/10. Glad you're getting mad enjoyment out of both titles mate!
Really good video going to subscribe now 👍
ah shucks cheers my dude!
This video is exactly what I’d had on my mind recently, except at a high quality. I was also thinking about red dead redemption 1 vs 2 as a spaghetti western vs Hollywood western.
As someone who’s finished re 4 (original) and dead space remake while also have had played re 4 remake and og dead space I have to say that both games are fantastic, but all four are quite different from each other.
Re4 og has a better vibe and tone then it remake although the remake has far better gameplay
Dead space og makes you feel far more isolated and trapped while the remake gives better motivation and brings more life to the ishimura and characters
I’d highly recommend playing the original re4 because although the story is the same the tone and character are far better and although the gameplay may be a bit outdated it feel very good to play. I’d say out of the four of re4 is still my favorite, but I need to finish re4 remake first before deciding.
Anyways great video I’m looking forward to content you plan to make.
good points and suggestions my dude! thanks for checking out the video and hope you enjoy my other videos :)
Both great games, but Re4 remake or not is just the better game. Better gunplay, much much much better boss fights, better story and pacing, more varied environments, more interesting and memorable characters. RE4 also gets progressively scarier and more dangerous whereas Dead Space is pretty frontloaded as far as difficulty and scariness. I love Dead Space but RE4 trumps it in almost every way
fair opinion mate
You gave a great review. I thoroughly enjoyed this. Both are great and we got two survivor horror games in the same year. EA saw how well resident evil kept fans going and they wanted to remake dead space bc they knew they had big fan base there. Also like re6 dead space 3 was action game. The horror left. And big props too for showing some days gone. I love that game. I’ve beat it at least 4 times and still enjoy a good playthru once a year. I think the both hit it out of the park. But EA is suffering from success. Bc they are worried about remaking dead space 2 and capcom still ignores fans who want code Veronica remade. I never played code Veronica. But I heard it was a great game. We have reached the Hollywood era of video games. I’m 36 a older millennial. And I’m happy to see remakes and they also fix more stuff or add to it. Make the story better. Again this was a great review. In my opinion I feel dead space took what re4 did with over the shoulder shooter and perfected it even more. But it’s EA and they make huge mistakes all the time. If you read this. Thank you for a great review of both games.
Cheers my dude! I've done separate reviews on Dead Space remake, RE4 remake and 2 videos on Days gone this year (and I have some strong thoughts on that ha ha). Cheers mate!
The Dead Space remake me gave me goosebumps. As much as I enjoyed the RE4 remake, there were no goosebumps.
That's fair my dude
I played both original games to death and I say re4 remake, I haven’t even finished dead space remake but it’s pretty epic we got both within 3 months of each other
Yeah exactly my dude two great games releasing so close to each other
Hard to believe u have 1.6k subs. You definitely have a knack for youtube content ✌ from 🇺🇸
Oh cheers mate!
In terms of story it's not even close, we agree it's better than RE4 on that front, but like Dead Space's story is objectively better in every aspect, Isaac actually has internal conflict and character development that gets explored in a good way, Resident Evil 4 has none of this, it's a character driven story with a simple plot and it has terrible character writing and dialogue. I have a full video on my YT breaking down how shit Resident Evil 4s story is, and I didn't even cover more of what I could've ripped the story for. Dead Space doesn't have a masterpiece of a story or anything but at least it's solid, Resident Evil 4's narrative is terrible.
In terms of gameplay I think the kind of like force abilities, and the slow orbs, as well as the non generic weapons and ability to get more creative with them, combined with the horror atmosphere give gameplay in Dead Space the slight edge for me, I feel like every level in Dead Space felt like the artic cold room boss fight from from RE4, I was constantly shitting myself playing Dead Space, while in RE4 the horror aspect kind of went away for me in the first 30 min except for a couple levels, while I would agree the Resident Evil has better level design and boss fights, Dead Spaces atmosphere in unmatched for me, the world design and sound design is fantastic and makes every level feel tense and it always had me on edge
Fair opinion/points my dude
Great content, new subscriber.
Might need your opinion on this: Dying light or Dead Island series?
Haven't played either and unsure if I want to buy Dying light 2 that recently came out or wait for Dead Island 2
Oh good one my dude. I'll be covering dead island 2 shortly so hopefully that answers that question for you
I’m on my 7th play through of RE4 Remake installing mods after getting the platinum and Dead Space… well….8-10 hours and you’re done
That's impressive my dude. Glad your enjoying re4
Is your channel new? How do you not have more subscribers?! Loving your reviews. Dunkey 2.0
Cheers my dude, glad you're enjoying my videos :) - channel has been around for 3 years ha ha
Both are great. While id say dead space is maybe a bit higher, because of the flesh system. Both have decent voice acting across the board, save for each having two characters that are played not as great. Saddler and Ada, Kendra and Hammond. For those performances the OG games take the cake. But they are both still amazing remakes and a testament to what Remakes should be. I'm looking at you Halo remastered.
I'm just happy to have both of these badass games and I'm grateful I finally got my hands on a ps5 to experience them! I just hope Silent Hill remake is able to reach this level of awesome.... man, 2023 is turning out to be the best year for horror gaming in a very long time!
2023 so far has released some banger games so far!
It's unreal that we got both of these games within a couple of months, the winter/spring gaming experience might be pale in comparison next year.
Exactly mate
Really great video bro!
Cheers for the kind words my dude
Both 10/10 legendary games, choose res 4 if you want more action, choose dead space if you wana crap your pants
Exactly mate
We play dead space for the horror
We play resident evil 4 for the action
I have a question for people who played both, just want to know which one is harder? I platinumed RE4 Remake, Professional was nightmare but I manage to get an S+, how is Dead Space on impossible? Is it the same or less difficult compared to pro on RE4 Remake?
Both are must play games. In all honesty it's a tie. We are so blessed to have two 10/10 remakes in the same year.
Exactly mate!
I think in terms of being a remake, Dead Space wins. It’s more faithful to the original while also adding a ton of stuff, and even making the map more metroidvania like. As well as getting Issac’s original VA to reprise his role! While RE4make feels more like its own game that’s a homage to the original.
Dead Space is better as a horror game, while RE4 is better as an Action game.
Like, RE4 is a horror game, but it's not scary when you're doing backflips, parrying chainsaws, and screaming at Ashley so she doesn't kill herself in the stupidest way possible.
Haha yup! My Ashley died so many times just outside the castle
They’re both two of the best video game remakes ever. I was really, really impressed with RE4 tho, it wins. After re3, I thought it would be a disaster, but it turns out Capcom actually genuinely listened to the fan feedback on RE3 remake and they basically gave RE4 the RE1/2 treatment, IE, a genuinely good remake. Hopefully separate ways dlc adds in the few missing details from the og
Well said mate
Dead Space remake takes the cake for me. Got the platinum, and even played through it again with the foam hand just for the hell of it. Re4 remake was frustrating and felt off. I was ready for it to be over at the halfway point. One playthrough and I went back to the original and enjoyed it so much more.
RE4 IMO - much more was changed and adapted to fit the modern era. Game play was dramatically improved whereas in dead space the majority of changes felt cosmetic or more superficial
That's fair my dude
You nailed it! Cool video bro
Cheers my dude
I had never seen or played both games and literally had £50 to spend on one I ended up choosing re4 because I regret never giving it ago mostly cause I was scared 😂😂 but I wish I had played it. Loved the crapped out of it. Currently on my 6th play through trying to unlock cosmetics
Right on my dude! Glad your enjoying RE4 and having a blast with it
I think Dead Space is the better Remake. Here's why.
-DSR only cut 2 sections and refit them with enhanced gameplay versions of the original concept
-DSR has higher visual fidelity, the peeling system is a sight to behold, making Doom Eternal's fleshy demons seem like a gimmick
-DSR did not mess with the original game's tone. If anything the team at Motive took steps to make the tone stronger.
-DSR added side content. While REmake 4 has requests they don't really deviate from the content in the original. The blue medallions being a perfect example. DSR added new side content that fleshes out the story, characters, and world while also providing worthwhile upgrades.
-DSR has a new ending. The alternate ending for DSR is great and adds a great deal of replayability to the title.
-Subjectively I think the combat is stronger in DSR. While I appreciate the combat changes in REmake 4 it still feels like visual damage feedback is lacking, unless you use a shotgun. Every weapon in DSR eviscerates Necros making damage easy to visually communicate.
There are more reasons but I think I've provided a solid case. I love both remakes but I miss all the dialogue they cut in REmake 4. Especially the I got gum line.
I'll give Re4r the slight edge due to gameplay variety. Both fantastic remakes.
Agree my dude both fantastic games
Re4 I keep getting bored of but dead space I can binge play
Oh? Well right on my dude glad your enjoying Dead Space
@@DudiReviews it was just my personal opinion
@@attackontitanfollower you're all good my dude 🤘
I loved Dead Space, but RE4 is a class of it's own. There's an insane amount of depth in the combat.
That's a fair opinion my dude
Dead space is the receipt the entire gaming industry can follow - be faithful and have love on details.
RE4R cannot be followed by other companies. No other company can add parrying with knife in a remake. That’s just pure Capcom exclusive.
In conclusion, I will praise Dead Space more so more companies can get remake right.
What a time to be alive.
Amazing remakes. And the Resident Evil 2 Remake.
I probably prefer Dead Space by a hair, but the Rezzies are incredible, and without them there would have been no Dead Space to begin with.
Can’t pick but all I know is that both games reminded me of how much I love survival horror
You can pick both my dude they're fantastic games
I think Seperate Ways sealed the deal for me on being the better experience before that Dead Space would have took the cake what a year it has been for survival horror with Alan Wake 2 hitting that home run, 2023 the year that keeps giving in gaming.
They are both incredible. But I love the dead space remake more.
That's fair my dude
They are both amazing games in their own right. To me, RE4 is a tad better because it's just more fun. Dead Space does Survivial Horror better but RE4 has way more variety and each encounter with enemies are unique and can be tackled in so many different ways. Dead Space has the same basic tactics from beginning to end on how to handle the enemies. Also, Dead Space bosses leave a lot to be desired while all the bosses in RE4R are stand-outs and tense. On another note, the originality in Dead Space weapons are a plus but the sheer number of different weapons and upgrades/unlockables in RE4R give each playthrough, a different feel. While the Ishimura is an amazing location for horror within Dead Space, the variety of the setting in RE4R and the various different segments and locations keep RE4R fresh. Also, the enemy variety and unpredictability make RE4 a challenging and rewarding game experience from beginning to end (especially on higher difficulties). Both are amazing games but I give the win to the game that inspired Dead Space in the first place. RE4 plays better; every encounter, a tense puzzle in reflex and skill. There are gameplay moments in RE4 that no game has and when you master RE4R, there is just no other game like it. From beggining to end, RE4R is a thrill ride of various, enormous proportions.
fair points mate
The RE4 remake kicks the shit out of the dead space remake so much that it’s really not even a debate. Like it is on an entirely different plane of existence.
These are literally the last two games I’ve played (currently still playing Dead Space Remake)…enjoyed RE4 Remake more. RE4 has better bosses too
That's fair my dude. Both great games
I think they both did the originals justice but if I had to pick it’d be dead space
The original games Dead Space > RE4
The remakes RE4 > Dead Space
They’re all amazing though
Good video. Keep it up.
Cheers mate
Tbh dead space remake is the definitive way to play ds1. Re4r is different enough to be a good alternative instead of a replacement.
The “well, damn” shot me straight to gman reviewer. Then you talked about gman meme and I lost it 😂😂😂😂😅😅😅😅😅
Well actually I think The Callisto Prot nah I can't even make the joke....
Great opinions, honestly for me, it is impossible to say that one is better than the other, both are the best gift the gaming industry could give to the lovers of Survival horror, the comeback of the best games of this genre. The only thing I can say that DS is more inmersive and terrifying and RE4 its more "Arcade" and dynamic to play.
Right there with you my dude
As much i am of a RE fanboy, dead space wins as THE SURVIVAL HORROR game. Its so terrifying and every encounter is a challenge because the necromorphs are insanely intelligent and the enemy variety keeps you on your toes to counter them and the crazy peeling/mutilating limbs combat is crazy
Good point there my dude
I was thinking this question this morning. They're both excellent. I like the Dead Space series more and I think as a horror survival game, it outclasses RE4 Remake. I think the Dead Space remake has a more memorable experience. But in terms of fun factor, I lean more toward the RE4 Remake.
Yeah they're both excellent games too so hard to decide which is better
Really similar remakes. And both awesome
