Honestly loving how the internet has transformed horror as a genre, like args, creepypastas, found media horror, etc like it feels like there's been an explosion of creative horror fiction on the net and it's great.
Ironically since args are so successful and easy to produce its getting old pretty fast

Another one that I'd really suggest if you haven't watched it already would be Monument Mythos. Not so much because it's scary, but the lore of it. It's ending it's second season and it's about to move on to it's third season. It's absolutely massive.

I know I’m late, but when I was rewatching the series, I noticed that at 0:32 of Mandela Calagoue Vol 1, it says that an alternate can be identified by looking identical to you. If alternates are created by people killing themselves to come back as members of Satan’s army, then you would never see an alternate of yourself. In order for there to be a “you” alternate, you would need to be dead.

Well, the most likely theory for the missing children is a pretty smart play. The intruder knows that a parent's worst FEAR is losing their child. Adding onto that the mom you-know'd herself after she lost her child, which means they can now possess her body.

This series is genuinely unnerving, I’ve watched horror series before, and in the night and didn’t usually get the creeps, but in the morning when I watched this series, I lost it, I still have nightmares after 3 days. It’s truly a series which shocks you down into the core.
At first it unnerved me. When I woke up about two or three days after, which is today, I randomly thought of it, and I couldn’t get any more sleep until my girlfriend had woke up & was out & about.
especially the video where it says something along the lines of "when the man in the corner is looking at you inches away from your face do not open your eyes" made me not open my eyes

The part that got my insides struggling was the “entity messing with victim’s dead body” video.
I havent seen any piece of horror use that idea to its fullest extent, but man

@Big Juice Same, but I'm a Christan who happens to be Lgbtq+ so it's more of the fact that throughout my entire life I was told to be terrified of God because of me being lgbtq+.

I'm pretty sure Lucifer means "Bearer of Light" (since he used to be an angel) making him an (ex) angel of light, so it would also make sense if he appeared to others in some version of his old angel form

If anyone else want another similar theory/explanation on the Mendela catalog I’d recommend the video done by wendigoon. He also goes in-depth into this series and has some amazing analysis that is a bit more organised (matpat did a great job too but it would probably make more sense). Wendigoon had also talked to the creator himself and builds his theory on the recommended way of watching the videos (which is to start on the video ‘the Mandela catalogue - The THINK Principle).

“Something about the 1980s was terrifying” it’s the production quality. Lots of old vhs camera quality, packed condensed sound, low quality material strips your senses of clear stimulus so it adds that small sense of uncertainty to your body and it effectively makes you fear/feel different with old school horror. For example old Texas chainsaw compared to reboots
The 1980s also had real life slashers (dahmer for example) and the satanic panic
If you have a little Lovecraftian Knowledge, you can really imagine that the "Angel" Figure has real close traits to Nyarlathotep, the Underling of the Eldrich Gods, who blends in with men, lies to them, and makes them either become his followers or reach madness.
Nyarlethotep isn’t the underling, I’m pretty sure he’s FAR alive most of the others. Cthulhu is the underling.
Nyarlethotep is an outer god himself and is only bound to azathoth in lovecraftian lore. I imagine it's not an arrangement nyarlethotep would be happy about since if azathoth Wakes up it's all over and that would spoil his fun.

@@john-paull4943 The Cthulhu Mythos, aka the fictional universe of H.P. Lovecraft's that encompasses all of the monsters/gods he wrote about (though other authors worked on it as well).
Nice. Wasn't the Slenderman also based on Nyarlathotep? Victor Surge apparently had Lovecraftian horror in mind among some other works when he created the mythos. Idk if the Slenderman was meant to be a direct parallel to the Eldritch God but there's definitely a similarity in form and behavior, there's even a Fandom page about it.

I think the intruder is kidnapping children because he is a demon who took his own life because of grief because his wife left him. And now he actively seeks children to take care of, but every time they cry, he is reminded of the child that was taken away from him. And so he sacrifices them until he finds one that doesn't cry when seeing him.

As a Christian, this absolutely terrifies me cause it could be a metaphor for how easily Satan can sneak his way into our lives. I also see it as a metaphor for how easily he can distort the truth

I found this theory to be extra creepy. The mixture of spiritual and sci-horror hits the sweet spot for me, and the imagery is very unsettling. Something about that decades old vintage look to things makes it way more disturbing. I'm excited for the next part!

My take is that when the “Gabriel” stumbles on the first letter of the word “angel”, he wasn’t saying “I am the alien”, he was saying “I am the Antichrist”. Also, if Alex read up on some Bible theory, he would know that demons usually appear as humans with certain warped or irregular features. The alternates fit this profile perfectly.

I think one of the things that make analog so scary is how we associate it with unedited footage.
Before analog horror, this type of video quality was almost exclusive to old home videos, ones that show old real life events.
That makes it subconsciously harder to comprehend that what's on the screen is edited, because we equate the vhs style to old, unedited footage.
Never thought anything could top the terror of biblically accurate angels.
