The Cladery Heart was unavailable in 2016 (when this video was recorded) unless you had backed the game on Kickstarter. For those curious, it should allow you to skip the veils check Way Upstream. Thanks to those who have mentioned it in the comments.
the sun. the sun. the sun. the sun. the sun. The sun. The sun. The sun. The sun. The sUN. THE SUN. THE SUN. THE SUN. THE SUN!! THE SUN!! THE SUN!! THE SUN!! THE SUN!!
Yeah so I kinda decided to use the Zubmarine to go under the Dawn Machine? Well guess what it was a fucking orb of pure light, and when I went into it my terror reached 100 in literally 4 seconds :V Luckily I had saved beforehand because the Invictus is bullshit, that was an enlightening experience (I'm not sorry)
I literally just tried that a few days ago and I was like, "explorers of a new frontier" and then a second later I resurfaced on the other side of the dawn machine, terror 100, crew rioting, but I managed to convince them to calm down and we made it to port safely, to zail the zee another day
The Cladery Heart will help you zail south through Adam's Way. You'll skip the veils check and keep your hull, but you still lose all but 1 of your crew.
Probably someone has, but it's been hard to find it in a condensed to-the-point form. Most people who write "dawn machine" in their descriptions go there, get scared, and turn around. Keep it up.
I would advice you that you should only ever watch a video if you are stuck in the game after researching for something for 3 hours. Most of its pleasure come from the exploration, the discovery of the unknown, the fact that you and your fragile ship have made it to the south where the mightiest ships patrol, seeking a prey, no matter its nature. Yes you will die, yes the zee is incredibly dangerous the first time you explore it, but it is also a truly strange and wonderful experience And to make you see what I will tell you a glimps of a story: there is one place, on one of the edges of the map, where you won't suffer a massive stress penatly, and where you can go to see something magnificent. It's not the Avid Horizon. I won't tell what it is, I won't tell what it does, just to bring supplies and food with you, and listen to the song, that colorfull song...
@@rarr2130 Ok, so you actually got me curious because the last time I tried to zail up Adam's Way I had the corvette and the exact same thing happened. I failed the veils test and died. So now that I have The Cladery Heart, I tried again. Lo and behold, the ship allows you to skip the veils test entirely. It gives you an Outlandish Artefact, The Touch of the South, and a Judgement's egg; Consumes 4 supplies and all but 1 of your crew. But it doesn't damage your Hull. I just tried it.
@@rarr2130 No, it does, actually. If you have the Cladery Heart, you can skip the veils check and keep your hull. You still lose all but 1 crew, though.
I'm using The Fulgent Impeller which is the fastest engine in the game as well as the Caminus Yards Avid Suppressor so I can spam full power without blowing up my engine. That's as fast as you can legitimately get the Merchant Cruiser to go, as far as I'm aware.
+I Know Lots Of Things a nice and easy way to earn money is to get involved in sunlight trading. You first need to find Khan's Shadow where you should buy as many empty mirror-catch boxes as you can currently afford (up to 15-20), then stock on fuel and supplies and go to Cumaean Canal and from there to the surface. Just make sure you don't have a townhouse or a mansion in London (or sell them first). Fill the boxes until you see a tier of Yearning Burning quality that tells you look inside one of the boxes. Afterwards head back to London, the Blind Bruiser will buy sunlight from you. Rest until your Yearning Burning quality is gone and repeat. In a few runs you'll be able to afford the merchant cruiser. If you have trouble initially making money to get the boxes, find Salt Lions and sell the Sphinxstone in London a few times.

I don't know what's dumber going past the maddening sun or go up the corrosive blood river

Expert movement by the dawn machine there ;p

This was exactly the video I wanted to see. Was curious what the dawn machine was all about.
You're welcome! Colour me amazed nobody else had done this already.

Do not sail under the dawn machine
So "pretty".

Mate, you need a living ship to go south Adam's way. Aka the Cladery heart. In case you didn't know this
No, it doesn't help you. You need to have veeeeery high "veils" statistic. .

How are you this fast, did you edit your speed?

There is an engine. It requires human sacrifice tho.
For that speed I'd sacrifice a god of the zee, let alone a few mere humans
Can someone point to the storyline I can complete to get it without giving away the spoilers?
Follow the Tireless Mechanic's storyline. That's the hard part. The Suppressor is purchasable in London.
This game should have had a first person view version.
Your ship is fast. What engine do u have?
The Fulgent Impeller
PyrenZero alright thank you man
That, and they're using 'F' for Full Power every so often - more or less doubles the speed
how do you have so much fuel ?
Merchant Cruiser has a hold of 120
+PyrenZero yeah, but where did he get it ?
You can't be serious? I bought the ship and fuel at Fallen London...
+PyrenZero i know that. I just can't afford so much fuel. I can't even afford that boat.

god this game looks horrible with youtube resolution
I uninstall this game just because of the ship moving speed...lol
You missed out on an experience, but I guess it’s understandable. The sequel, Sunless Skies, has better movement speed.
