​The Thillana, followed by the Mangalam, marks the conclusion of an arangetram. It is an energetic and elaborate piece that brings out the internal beauty and joy of the dance. Interestingly, the thillanas of Lalgudi Jayaraman are known to contain ragas that originate from Hindustani music. The dancer conveys praise and adoration to Lord Muruga, who is also known as Valli’s husband and is greatly revered amongst gurus. Many of his sages have devoted their lives to him and attained great bliss.
