      It isn't. Every University has a code of conduct, just like a Criminal can be given terms of parole. Any violation of those terms has consequences. I don't know if you went to a University but the Degree is not just for academics, it's for Academics and Character and not meeting the criteria of either is enough to have a student kicked out of school. When did America start supporting TERRORISTS it ones used to pride itself of not negotiating with. It's still this same generation of young people who just some few months back trended on TIKTOK with OSAMA BIN LADEN letter, saying Osama Bin Laden is a HERO. UNBELIEVABLE. And to think these same young people are the leaders of America's future. Incase you are not seeing it, America is GONE.

      @@UnclePumblechook Corporate rules does not supersede Constitutional Rights. Also, they paid for and passed their courses. Therefore, they cannot hold their degrees. They could have expelled them if they had not already completed the course and thus withhold the degree. But course work and been paid for and successfully completed. This will be revered without the need for a lawsuit. And they are going to take the "Corporate" stance then they should lose the government funding side and lose their accreditation. Since, losing their accreditation is essentially equivalent to withholding the students' degrees.

      @@jonq.public5892 you are forgetting that if any student breaks the law or behaves themselves in a manner that breaks the school’s code of conduct, they can be suspended or denied a diploma. Hate speech, illegal occupation of school grounds, calling for genocide of Jews - all are against the BASIC code of conduct for any school. I would also add that if they are protesting against something they can’t even articulate or provide arguments for (outside of what they read on TikTok), then they should be denied their diplomas by the virtue of being simply a pack of ignorant morons

    As the extreme left is fond of pointing out: actions have consequences. Hundreds of people engaged in those protests but only 13 were denied graduation, not because they were expressing their opinions or participating in a protest, but because their conduct during the protests violated university policies. This includes things like hate speech, and threats and intimidation. If you weren't total hypocrites you would be "cancelling" those 13 students for their bigoted and hateful behavior, not defending them. But, because you agree with their bigoted and hateful opinions, you see nothing wrong with their use of threats, intimidation, and hatred.

    A Diploma is the result of studying and passing exams - what has protesting to do with it? Are those universities holding back those diplomas as punishment, and despite the fact that they have been earned by the students?

    How can you legally' withhold a Degree or Diploma, because of a Protest, which has nothing to do with the Degree??? !
    'This is not Legal' they Paid for their studies, they passed their studies. Disagreeing with some body does not give you the right to steal their degrees from under them,!!!!!!!!!!!!!

      It actually does give Harvard the right according to the school's code of conduct. This decision was likely made by a committee; it's rarely if ever done as a knee-jerk reaction.
      If they protested as alumni then their degrees would be be untouchable.

      Harvard ranked last in free speech out of 345 colleges meaning if any group was criticized the speaker was immediately shut down. That rule was always enforced unless it came to israel or Jews. When someone complained the president and DEI department said too bad we have free speech. That kid has a good lawsuit.
