Thanks Dad for all the help, you're the man.
Forget the money you've saved, the bonding and father/son relationship is PRICELESS.
Steve is such a champion, and has passed this passion on to next generation.
Loved the video and so nice to see Nadyana's smile, even though she's not feeling well, poor little love..!!
Your Dad is a true legend and a true gentleman. Well done.
This is how I learned to fix motor’s with my dad back in the day and I still have his torque wrench, the same as your dad’s.Thanks for the memories.
Me also, and still have Dad's torque wrench and a lot of his tools.
Your dad needs a reward "Father of the year" you guy's are so lucky too have such a craftsman as a dad
I dare say the reward might be cruising the Greek Islands on Cherokee catamaran.
@@markd1070 or come and visit Morocco, Mharba khoya
Super Dad!
What a great team you all make. Steve is a legend I love how calm you both are. I so enjoyed the video ❤
Your Dad is a true time served engineer, with the temperament of a saint. Thanks for sharing your engine’s rebuild experience, it’s been truly engrossing
I could watch your dad work all day. He does everything correctly with great attention to detail. Very Zen. That engine will be around 100 years old by the time it needs rebuilt again.
Amazed by the delicateness and meticulousness your father treats the engine!!!!
What a dad! You lucky bastard…..
Excellent to see you working with your father, those are memories that will stay with you for life. You father is an excellent mechanic. You are lucky to have someone you can learn from. I overhauled a straight six engine with my father when I was 17 and it is one of my fondest memories. I enjoyed this video immensely.
Great job Dad…I know this is more than an engine rebuild, time with your kid is priceless.
Dad’s a star quietly gets on with it no drama saving you money and teaching you some stuff in the process . Life lesson , it doesn’t get much better .
Your dad is a true gentleman and a scholar. The World would be a better place with more men of substance like him! Well done!
Your dad is a superhero ! How lucky you are to have such a dad !
Your Dad is so soft spoken, patient and excellent teacher.
Yay Steve! Mark your dad is a star... Can't wait to see the engine back in the boat. Well done. Hope Yoshi looked after Nadiyana while she was feeling unwell and hope she is feeling better now.
Congratulations! Now you have a good as new engine for a lot less than a used one, and you know everything about your engine. A great education.
Steve is a legend.
Ahoy from Sweden ! Top notch work from Steve, and it is clear he is enjoying it. Now I can see why Mark took such good care of the Beta in GT. He is a chip off the old block ! Nadiyana is a strong woman, but she looked so happy that Mark is back. We did not see Yoshi bouncing all over Mark.
Mark your Dad is a wizard, now you boat will be safe with a dependable motor. Glad to see you back on the boat with Nadiyana
Your father is such a humble smart man. You must love him very much! Thank you for all your hard work filming and editing just so we can enjoy the rebuild. I'm so glad to see you two back together! Take care of your hardworking sweetheart. Hope she's feeling better soon.
You are so lucky to have this time with your dad even if there were some frustrations and pain along the way. This video will be a treasure for you in years to come.
Never heard truer words!
I could watch your dad all day, a real trades man.
Who knows? That old Mercedes marine diesel might be like new again! Wow, very impressive...right down to the executive decision to leave the rope rear seal´n as was´n is. To me it is already clear: You made the right choice to "rebuild" the engine. Maybe you knew it all along!
I can't imagine a more satisfying feeling hearing that engine running.
Kudos to Steve and great bonding time between Dad and Son. You will always remember these special times with your dad Mark.
I bet that timing had been off for a while. ( I was thinking this a while back also ). It had also been burning oil. It's hard to know what someone else did to it before you got it. Your dad did a good job on the overhaul and it doesn't smoke anymore.
Wow seriously dude your dad is a pleasure to watch doing his thing! Fancy rebuilding my Bukh DV20? What a top guy
I know nothing about how an engine works. But I loved watching this process from start to finish. It was fascinating seeing all the bits and bobs taken out and then putting them back where they belong better than ever!!!
Well done, your dad is a legend in his own lifetime. I learned how to deal with engines way back in 1971 when I had to pull my 850 mini apart, interestingly after all those years the basic engine principles remain the same with the obvious difference of the injection. Well done on the editing and the filming , one day you should add up all the time , I know for my tragically short videos it takes an age so 33minutes terrifying to think. !!
Shut up
Great fun watching a father and son working on a project; my dad and I built his house, memories I will always cherish. I was worried we weren't going to see Nadiyana's smiling face but she made an appearance at the end :D
Your dads a legend, not many like him left with all these modern vehicles. 👌🏻 great video.
Dad’s are just the best. Well done guys . Nearly there
Father and son working on an engine don't get any better than that! congrats!
Thanks 👍
Your Dad is great! Well done to him. My own Dad has been gone since 2012. I still have a lot of his tools including his Torque Wrench; same as your Dad’s. It always works!
Your dad is a champion. Great job Steve!
what a great Dad you cant beat having a good motor
Brilliant episode and get well soon, you both look rough..... from 2 ex Perkins diesel engine employees this one really took us back to training school days. Good job! Just be careful with shipping engine back not to fall foul of EU customs. Declare this engine as returned EU Goods ( detaile timescale) with no increase in value to avoid import duty. We'll buy you a beer if we bump into you this season.
your father is a great man, you and your family are a great team! fully watch full support greeting from USA great channel
Hi Mark - you are so fortunate to have such great parents and a loving Wife. I am sure you realize but please tell them as often as you can.
Cheers TNJ.
So happy to see you and your Dad working together. Nothing better than Father & Son working on a major project together. You are my hero. I hope Nadiana is feeling better soon.
So glad to see the engine running. Isn’t that such a relief after all the issues you’ve had with it?
Love a good old Mechanical diesel, this reminds me of working on boats/cars/bikes with my dad! Good stuff
I have NEVER watched anything motor-related with such interest as this whole series. The whole package of father & son, doing this amazing job for the catamaran, for the family that lives in it, and all... quite inspiring! Thanks for the Master-Class all around from your dad, you, and hoping that you are with Nadiana soon enough to celebrate sailing together!! Thanks again for this great series!!
Possibly your best video, a superb account of the realities, obstacles, unexpected surprises, and the benefits of DIY, knowing what can be left as is, such as crank journals, and where to sweat attention to detail, like aligning the block, sump, end faces to ensure flat surface for the cam drive casing. I've done many rebuilds since teens, exactly like this, clean, strip methodically, label/ mark everything for correct assembly, and then scrutinise every part, and take for machining. Its becoming rare, this approach, but is absolutely best, self reliance, to be able to have best confidence in your abilities, and, your great little ship. I know your Cat very well, i kept my sailing dinghy next to Reg Whites Sailcraft factory, even raced with him, and his son Rob, though they were at Warp Speed, in Tornado Olympic Class, multi gold medals winners.
Yer dad, what a lovely guy, great attitude.
This is a game changer for you guys!!!👌🙏👏👏👏
Your dad is a absolute legend ! It was so cool to see the engine fire up once he had a proper battery connected to it , and so easily I might add . Seeing him smiling and giving two thumbs up was great ! I don't know who was happier , your dad or you . I know he loved working along side you on the motor . Once again BIG PROPS to Steve for helping out . This job could not have been done without him .
Your Dad's Garage Reminds me of "The A Team" what comes out is awesome...
Yeah, its such a great place. it has everything a man could ever need
@@WildlingSailing don't forget to take us out in the corvette lol
Your dad is so soft spoken. What a great dad you got there. And lets give mom some credit for raising a great kid, you.
Your Dad is such a nice person, an a very good mechanic!
Good old Dad! He did a great job.
A few months ago I started a mechanical restoration project with my son, in his garage. It was on a 52 year old 2 stroke Suzuki motorcycle, that had been off the road for over 30 years. We got the engine running well, and converted it to electronic ignition. Then I brought the bike back to my home in Spain. I have now restored the paintwork, new wheel spokes, new tyres, seat cover etc. Finally got it on the road this week. Running well. I especially enjoyed the father/son time we spent working on the engine. It's good to show love in practical ways like that. His help was very valuable.
This video was very enjoyable to watch. It reminded me of when I worked with my dad on my boats and cars. Thanks for sharing. Your dad should have his own CZcams engine repair channel.
agreed!
Well done!! Great father and son project well filmed and edited.
Your dad is such a huge help to you and Nadyana. It is such a Blessing to have parents who are so willing to help their children succeed in their dreams. Good luck with the re-install.
Excellent! Dad is a great resource, asset and teacher! Best luck! Thanks for sharing!
When I thought my sons to work on engines, I used the same method my dad used to teach my older brothers how to work on engines. Which they then used on me. Make them do all the wrench turning with the teacher telling them every step of the build. Hands on IMO works a lot better than just having them watch you doing all of the work.
Your dad needs his own channel! Could watch for hours, proper legend...
This was like the best episode of the Repair Shop ever. Sure your dad should have his own CZcams channel! Glad the fingers looking better.
Great to see the engine running. What a wonderful experience to get to work on it with your dad! I’m very happy for all of you!
Well done. I know how amazing the feeling is. One of my favorite memories with my dad is replacing the engine in my schooner whilst still afloat in a tiny fishing village in Spain after it destroyed itself after crossing the Bay of Biscay. I have a video just like yours of the first time our engine started.
Nice! sounds a similar story to this, but without the treacherous Biscay!
Mark, your Dad is amazing. What a true legend he is.
If I could hit that Like Button multiple times I would. So glad to see the smoker running!! Kudos to your Dad!
Great video and also super nice to see you two back together after what must have seemed an age
So cool! Really chuffed for you both, all the struggles & hard work with this old lump have finally paid off.Steve did a great job, & the filming & editing was top notch, well done! Hope you're feeling better now Nadiyana x Minke is going to be amazing! Cheers!
What a legend your dad is, and how special for you both to be able to work on this engine together. Glad to see an old beautiful engine come back to a new life.
Three cheers for Dad and a job well done!
This was a great video and a wonderful portrait of you and your Dad' s relationship. You're bonded to that motor for sure
Absolutely fanfastic Mark been warching you guys from the very start. The look and your Dads face when the engine ran was priceless. Great job on the heads upgrade nads xx
Credit to your Dad Steve...you are lucky to have him Mark...I think he and your Mum deserve a sailing holiday with you and Nadiana in the med soon. I have been following your story from the start and its great to see that it is finally coming together for you both after all your hard work on the cat. Well done to you both. If you ever come Down Under to Australia I have a mooring in Sydney for you and it would be great to buddy boat up the east coast, sail up to The Barrier Reef and show you this great land Down Under in the South Pacific ! - Fair winds to you both and thank you for sharing your dream with us. - Sean on SV Valhalla
Good job Dad we can see Dad loves building engines and loves helping his son.
well done wildlings and wildling-dad! you got some goosebumps out of me on the last clip that your dad sent you. So very pleased for you x
Excellent. Wonderful! What an amazing journey with everything especially the engine. Your dad is the BEST and a great addition to the channel albeit temporary.
You have just lucked out with your Dad. He's of the stock that put the 'Great' into Great Britain. Treasure every second you get with this quiet giant. You made SUCH a great video record of this engine job. Make sure you save copies in safe places. He would be an inspiration to future generations. If I met him, I'd buy him a pint - no question.
And yes, Mark. The work you put into the production and editing of that video shows all the way through. Some amazing close-up work! I know the effort that goes into editing and re-editing and uploading. Fair flying f***s to you, mate!
You guys did a great job on that engine! Please thank your awesome dad for allowing you to film him! Please pass on my best wishes to him! I can see your bond was nice to see! My dad has been gone now for 3 years and these are the things I got to do with him! So Mark Glad you got to spend quality time with your dad! Cheers!
Wow... I really thought you would o had to re bore the block. Great job. You and your dad are wonderful together. Happy sailing
What a great opportunity to learn from your dad! I learned a lot from my dad who had carpentry skills as well as minor mechanical capabilities. I did not accept learning from him as a child but as an adult I wish I had paid more attention. Got a lot from his work ethic though.
I thoroughly enjoyed this episode, what a great dad you have but you I can see that you already know this, you have a solid bond, good to see you back at the boat with you lovely wife looking forward to the installation of the engine best of luck
Love your channel - but can't wait for the "Wildings Senior" channel hosted by your dad! What an absolute legend!
Yippee, I'm really chuffed for you all , your Dads a bloody trooper, I love your video's and look forward to fridays and your updates. Lots of happy sailing coming your way folks, Congratulations and all the best from sunny Blackburn.
Great work ! You are blessed with a wonderful father ! Good luck in mounting the engine back in the boat!
Having a dad who knows how to rebuild an engine comes in useful :-)!
What a great memory with your dad, I'm a dad and love working with my boys, which are now married men. The knowledge you are getting will benefit you for the rest of your life. Cheers you two!!
Looking forward to the install. Your Dad is awesome.
Loved watching you work with your dad. A great experience for both of you.
Your father is such a master craftsman! He reminds me of my grandfather. God bless them both.
She sounds really good, and you got some great time with your father that you'll never forget.
What an awesome experience that you got to have with your dad. Thanks for sharing!
Great to hear the engine running, looking good hopefully this solves your problems on the boat.
Thanks to Dad for the care and attention to detail - a lesson to be learnt there!
Every time you start that motor you will think what a champion your dad is. Bravo for all involved.
Nice job dad is definitely a great mechanic you can tell how he takes his time and is precise it is his passion and you can tell
The engine sounds great, congratulations and thanks Dad!
Good on your dad for being there for you!

You are so lucky to have this quality time with your brilliant mechanic dad. We'll done ✔️ dad !
Thanks Dad!! Feel free to do a video of the Mustang sometime, I have a 68 coupe with the 200 straight six. And who's old decks were those hanging around the shop?? Great to see you two back together again, she looks sooooo happy! Love the channel!
Great job! A big relief to have the engine situation settled. I smiled with you when it fired up. :)
Now I understand how you had the nerve to pull your engine apart. Your Dad is a treasure I’m glad you appreciate him as much as you do.
You will cherish days like this forever, greatest dad in the world 🙏
