Hey Doug - You are so lucky to have a wife who is as passionate about music as you are. I thought she really added alot to this video! Great review, great song, loved hearing the Marc Cohn version
Huge thanks!
The Beatles song “in my Life” is a very special song for me and my late husband. The lyric’s really describe our life together throughout our almost 40 years together.
Awwwww!
Doug is living walking proof of a ball of sunshine encapsulated in human form. Just a truly happy genuine guy. As someone who is coming of age and in college he makes me both think about life and have hope and optimism for life ahead in a time of high uncertainty.
Hello Megan and Doug 😊
🌹🌹
What a wonderful episode....
Both Songs are really beautiful. Mc.Cartney's song is really Mr.Paul and i never heard music of marc Cohn I'll did like the song of M. Cohn and just now I liked his song even more....it gave me immediately a nice, warm feeling. Just like Megan mentioned in the video....😊
Great voice, beautiful 🎵 song.
Thank You both for sharing these songs with us. And of course for all the song information as scales, diatonic, details of the scales, diatonic, chromatic and further and thank for sharing Your bits and parts of your datingepisode....so sweet seeing you both glow as We listened to the song of Marc Cohn....that loving smile at each other....really Heartwarming. Thanks again for sharing...
Happy Valentines day 🌹🌹😍😇
Greetings, Aleksandra & Lewi🍀🍀🍀🤗🥰
🌹🌹❤️❤️
Cohn 's version has a "Can't find my way home" feel
Nice! You two are adorable.
Rhyming "Understand" with "Understand". BALLS!!!!
Love seeing other couples that can enjoy music together. Great video.
I had this record on one night a lonnnngg time ago, sitting with some friends, doing my first trip (Yikes)...well, I couldn't get off the couch and change the record. This album get going round and round, kept repeating on one of those old time turntables that get repeating...the arm just kept going back onto the record. MaCartney I is emblazoned in my brain and cells. My favorite record of his. I love it.
It's sweet that you guys can bond over music. Sadly that's not the case for all of us!
DOUG & MRS DOUG 🤘
Like and Love. Thanks you two. Graham UK
This was sooooooo heartwarming, I loved seeing the two of you together! Happy Valentine’s!
I've been a HUGE fan of Paul McCartney's music and The Beatles for as long as I can remember, and was very lucky to get my hands on a ticket for the gig he played in Liverpool's Kings Dock back in 1990. Best concert I've ever been too, but this song will always be one of my all time favourite songs from his solo material...
Always liked this song. Especially the guitar solos & his vocals with that grit. Paul McCartney was my fave of the 4 after the break up. The live version from Wings Over America is awesome.
Oh gosh that song hit me.....thank you wife
Wow. I didn't expect to care much at all for Marc Cohn's version, but I love the feel of it. It's somehow really touching and beautiful. Thank you, Doug- and Megan!
Mark Cohn's "the Rainy Season's" is a wonderful record. I hadn't heard his version of Maybe I'm Amazed, thanks for sharing!
“The Rainy Season” is a great album, isn’t it?
Love his first 2 albums. 'Healing Hands' is a stunning song, and 'The Things We've Handed Down' never fails to give me wet eyes
We love Dancing Doug too 😎
You two are BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!! Thank you for the video
Paul is one of a kind
Great to hear this song again. Also love the cover by Marc Cohn, I think that Marc got it spot on, if he tried to do a exact cover it would have been a mistake.
Agreed 👍
Paul is my absolute favorite. Glad you did this but would love to see you review more of his work outside of the usual.
I don’t know what it is, but Paul straining his voice just sounds great and has a more emotional feel. And I still have a question for those who believe he died and was replaced by someone else… Who’s the amazing person who replaced him?
NO ONE, he DIDN'T DIE, folks!!
Cool dynamic between the 2 of you, thanks for doing that.
The Marc Cohn version intro sounds exactly like Can't Find My Way Home by Steve Winwood/Blind Faith - the acoustic guitar, the descending lick, and it's even in the same key of D...!
It's a great song. But IMHO, the definitive version is the live one from Wings Over America.
I remember that one. It got a ton of radio airplay, well into the 1990s.
I'm going to check that out!
I was just about to post the same thing.
It’s one of my favourite McCartney vocals.
You're quite right. Wings Over America was their definitive release, in my opinion. Great LP.
Just when you think Paul’s a cheese merchant he pulls a real classic out of the hat and reminds you just how great he could be
Happy belated Valentine's Day to you, Doug, and your lovely wife. I've always loved this song , but I've never seen the video you played and I have to say, when they showed the scenes of Paul with Linda and the kids, I was initially fighting back some tears. Paul and Linda had one of the most solid and loving relationships in the history of rock and then Linda dies of breast cancer....makes me question any type of order in the universe.
You guys are awesome, thank you so much for taking the time to do this video
Great to meet your lady. Thumbs up! She looks like she could be a teacher, a music teacher?
The three songwriting Beatles had such a good arsenal of tunes ready, some of which were rehearsed with the Beatles, that made up their first solo albums.
The first thing I did after buying an electric guitar in 1970 was to buy the songbook for this album, McCartney. Thank you. It was great to celebrate V-Day with y'all. I can relate to so much of what you are saying. I can still play the guitar solo for "Maybe I'm Amazed" and the guitar part for "Oo You". The Beatles breakup and Paul's first solo album were so meaningful to me. It was my sophomore year in high school. I was playing third clarinet of the third clarinets at an outdoor concert when my Beatles cover bandmates told me about the breakup. We were just devastated. We didn't see it coming. We were working on covering "Get Back" at the time.
You have got to hear the version by The Faces. Rod Stewart's vocals are great and Ronnie Wood's solo is equally fine.
It may be McCartney's song but the Faces version is much better in my opinion.
Never knew Faces covered it. 🙏
@@josephgallagher945 and let's not forget the superb musicianship of Kenney Jones, Ian McLagen and the nicest guy ever in music, Ronnie Lane! czcams.com/video/SLhoLkTyNkM/video.html
@@hughwalker5628 Ronnie "Plonk" Lane, much missed. Small Faces are wonderful too.
Maybe your the only woman who could ever help, by the way your coat is on the stand!!!
My favorite song by Paul
Happy ❤
Thanks for this. Bless you both.
The live version is so much better than the studio version, I'm my opinion. I love it. It's on Wings Over America. So awesome.
I'm just going to listen to this version
Was thinking the same. The live version is so good! Slainte!
Oh my gosh you guys this was sooooo cute!!!!! I absolutely love this. As I comb through the catalog I'm finding such gems...but this is by far one of the best!!!
So good! Much love to you both!!
Also Marc Cohn's version kinda sounds like Clapton a bit...really reminds me of "Can't Find My Way Home".
I rarely like covers of Beatles/solo Beatle songs, but that was good!
Also Meg, you were spot on about how that neither version is better or worse but different as the tone of the relationship is expressed as the early days in Paul's...and that they've "been doin it awhile" in the Cohn version! So spot-on!
"Your hair defies air!!"
So good!!!
Straight to listen to Marc Cohn's version again. Thanks, guys.
You all are the Valentines Day find. Thanks for the great breakdown of the songs and sharing stories and anecdotes about your relationship. You and your wife could start your own series about songs that have meaning for both of you.
Steel Panther has some heartfelt romantic tunes. Highly recommend…..
I say it a lot but thanks again Doug. Nice to see Mrs Doug too. Glad you passed the audition and the shares are much appreciated.
I Love this Song Its just perfect ❤💙💐
I love these two together. What a great couple!
i vote to have the wife on the show
regulary)
One of my all-time favorite songs, but this Marc Cohn version is stunning! Thanks for this reaction, you two!
Happy Valentine's Day! Love, love, love this song. Very nice cover by Marc, change it up to fit your style, but keep the essential ingredients in there. All the songwriters in the Beatles had gifts for how to start and finish their songs. That piano intro just announces that this song is going to be epic. Also, as a guitar player that is guilty of playing too many notes when it isn't necessary, just like everybody else, I really miss the Beatles ability to make memorable, melody-based solos in their songs, nobody seems to do it much anymore.
My wedding song. And the album version blows the live version away.
Thanks again you guys for a great show… I so love experiencing music with the both of you… Our arms are forever wrapped around you… From Kennewick Washington Washington state on the mighty Columbia River💖💖💖💖❤️😍
What I love about so many of McCartney's songs with and without the Beatles are his usages of both diatonic and chromatic line cliches. So cool.
thanks :D
Im impressed by Cohns version. Very soulful & bluesy feel to it.
What a wonderful and awesome reaction with your wife! I loved it.
Happy Valentine's Day Doug and Megan. Tons of love songs out there, I like Something by the Beatles written by George Harrison
One of my all time favorites 🥰
My wife and I have totally different musical tastes. We were going to an orchestral evening and one of the pieces they were doing was Pictures At An Exhibition. I said that is a good piece and my wife said that I did not know that piece and if you do whistle it. So I did and my wife was amazed. I admitted that I knew it through ELP.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
What a great addition to an already great channel.
The Faces do a very good (live)version of this too.
Steve Hogarth from Marillion does an Amazing cover
The Sheepdog in the photo is Martha: the song Martha on the White Album is about that dog!
Full title "Martha My Dear"
I love how McCartney uses both diatonic and chromatic line cliches in so many of his songs, both with and without the Beatles.
Nice and proper choice - spreading the love...
Great reaction!
Classic McCartney song, and such a long list of hits outside Beatles, you have to keep in mind that he was seen was the person viewed on my the public as causing the Beatles strife, it must have been a lonely time where he needed his wife more than anything in the world
Hey Doug, in the 70's I had the Wings over America album which had a live version of this great song. Happy valentines day to you both.
So cool to see you share it with your wife. Nice change
Hey, Doug, it's nice to see you with your "Valentine". Me and MY Valentine celebrate our Silver Wedding this year on the 14th! (Clever planning on my part - no chance of me forgetting our Anniversary!!).
Being from Liverpool, we appreciate this choice of my wife's fave Beatle (mine is John!)
Btw - that voice (particularly when he goes high and almost screams) is always going to sound like The Beatles.... It's the voice from songs like Helter Skelter and the more "rock-y" Beatles stuff - completely distinctive - it can only be Paul's voice.
Maybe I' m amazed : don't forget the version of the FACES wilth Rod The Mod, phenomenal.
Happy Valentines Day to the both of you. Hope you have an awesome time. And Doug, if you play some romantic music...try to do a romantic reaction clip to said music.😁🎼🎧🎹
Ahh….so good!
My ex went into labour 14 February, 2004 and gave birth to our beautiful son on 15 February. She was hoping for a Valentines babby but it didn’t matter to me. LoL Happy valentines to everyone! Love and peace to all!
Dancing Doug, I really like this and you need to do more shows with your wife. Have you ever lost your self (as well as others), somewhere in space and time? I have , your wife reminds me of someone I knew (when, where, and how i knew them???), ok, good stuff, rock on.
The Faces do a great live cover of this song.
The music on the Marc Cohn cover sounds more like Blind Faith's Can't Find My Way Home.
This is unrelated to this song, but please review Kansas - The Wall/Pinnacle, or for a shorter but equally epic song Journey from Mariabronn.
How can I convince you? Haha
McCartney is a God of music, and plays a pretty damn fine bass too.
Doug, Paul was perpetually drunk and was saved by Linda, very interesting days for him!
New channel title time: It's The Dancing Doug! Same song intro though.
hi Doug....check out the FACES version.
It's also scary to start a new relationship when your last relationship didn't turn out so well so you have plenty of doubts. As a guy who has been married and divorced three times, I know self doubt is a very real and scary issue to deal with. I can't even imagine going through all the pain again.
Whow, that is what I feel like! Women (and men) can be quite hard on the partner. It is no great fun trying and trying and finding out the partner was not involved very much.
It's because, you maybe haven't yet met your match but life directs you to it.
@@caroleann_2142 You could be right, thank you.
Damn how much is the combined alimony coming up to🤣
@@caroleann_2142 Thank you :)
Stevie Wonder played almost all the instruments on his Songs In The Key of Life album. Amazing…considering he’s blind, and like McCartney, truly gifted. That’s my “Maybe I’m Amazed” moment. Except I’m not “maybe” but I’m truly amazed. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
A great demonstration of song writing, arrangement and production; my grasp of it all these years has been purely emotional and intuitive, so thank you for opening it up technically.
Not heard of Marc Cohn but this is a very good introduction; J J Cale meets McCartney? I'm not sure I want the song to be laid back, but I accept that it's a plausible and pleasant reading.
Lovely. One of the greatest musicians alive, or even ever. Try his counterpart in Beatles, John’s Happiness is a warm gun and also “The long one “ from Abbey Road.
I have a dollar that says you absolutely love The Beatles...as do most of us...hahahahaha. I’m a big Sir George Martin fan. 🌟🏆✌️
Happy Valentine's Day!🌹❤️🌹
I got "MILK DUDS" I'm easy.. I love MILK DUDS! I love Paul and Linda... Tru-Luv-4-Eva!❤️💜❤️
Try "My Love" He wrote great songs for her🥰
I’d love to watch you do a reaction video for Paul’s song called “Beautiful Night” from 1997.
BTW I will be back to patreon. I just got back to work after covid attack.
You’re welcome anytime
Nice to see you and Megan collaborate on this video! Awesome! It be neat to see you do Let’s Get Metaphysical by David Gilmore. Some really nice horn in this song.
We are blessed to be living in the time of Mr McCartney. I think the best recorded version of this is the 'Wings Over America' version. More alive and emotive imo.
The Faces do a great cover of this too
Hey Doug, thought of doing a grungy Sunday? Of course the 90’s was grunge mania especially Nirvana with Kurt’s genius way of constructing songs and a voice of pure power. Be interesting to see your take on it.
with. You might not know this, but he used to play with a band called the Beatles, or Beetle, or something to that effect.
After thinking about it I realized there were more songs by Paul McCartney that are good Valentine's Day songs, Let me Roll It and No Words, they were probably love songs to Linda.
HVD Y'All. Please extend the Luv to Rae. Glad that U went over so much info. Review is good 2
I think it's fair to say that Maybe I'm amazed at one of Paul's best compositions, and at a very sensitive time. At the time of the recording in February 1970, the Beatles were only three, since John - which was not mentioned - strangely enough in September 1969, on the return flight from Toronto with his new band, said to Allen Klein on the plane that he was leaving the Beatles become. Strange because before that, after Abbey Road had finished mixing, all 4 met at the Apple office and there was no question of a split at all, but George said that the band could continue to work and everyone could release their solo projects.. What about John in Toronto changed his mind. I think Paul was also tired of losing 1:3 in various decisions and he was against Allen Klein anyway, and rightly so.
Mahavishnu Orchestra : Meeting of the spirits
Please!!
Greetings from Bonnie Scotland Doug,I've just seen your review of hocus pocus ,and I'd like to propose you look at another Dutch band,Golden Earing playing radar love, also have you tried Status Quo?one of my favourites is accident prone from the album if you can't stand the heat
Are musical notes, like numbers in mathematics, allowing the construction of new melodies infinitely?
Check out Masayoshi Takanaka - The Rainbow Goblins album! I think you'd love it.
